Scrum Master at Fidelity Merrimack, NH, heard rumors today of layoffs tomorrow, 5/7/2026. 30 minutes ago, received an unscheduled meeting with their Mgr at 8 am tomorrow. Believes they are being laid off, despite excellent performance. 1/1/2027 would be their 2nd anniversary.

Asked my manager straight if I am part of the layoffs. He seemed to be unaware and pretended that he didn’t know much. Either he’s on the chopping block with me or is playing d-mb. I do see a 15 min slot booked on his caleder tomorrow at 9:30. 😂

What to expect

So I just got off a 1:1 with my manager and it was just the quarterly check-in, thinking it will be for the worse. The past few days were filled with anxiety with the rumors and the posts on this site. I think on a mental standpoint I'm done reading these comments and posts. Not to say that it may or may not happen and I do relate to those affected. For those who are worried and anxious these are just rumors. Take care of yourself.

Are you all hearing anything about layoffs on the trading floor? I hope all the girls with the nice feet don’t get cut.

I heard bv is exiting Chile with all employees there laid off. Is this true?

We have temp employees, managers are still frequently traveling, we are hiring.

It’s highly unlikely there will be layoffs in my BU. We also still have OT. The entire company is not at risk. Maybe 5%, but there’s no real indication there will be a massive layoff.

Everyone please sleep tonight. Layoffs do happen annually, but it’s usually something you can see coming, if there will be impact to your group.

Assuming it will be in the SEC papers but trying to see what timing of the next round could be.

I know we're all scared, I am too, but don't take what you read on an anonymous forum at face value.
There is no firm proof. Saying "I'm a people manager" anonymously is like saying "my uncle works for Microsoft" on Xbox live.
Fact of the matter is, if you are on a list whether it exists or not, there is nothing you can do about that until it is communicated to you allegedly in 2 days.
If you want to plan for the worst, great, not a bad idea to have a backup plan regardless of a RIF. Please don't let anonymous Internet posters scare you into getting sick over a possibility. Take a breath.

Just heard the Org under Sinclair/Vlok facing layoff last week of May. Total about 20% of those working under Vlok.

When are these layoffs supposed to happen? There have been posts about it here but nothing is going on. Fill us in!

Is there any truth to the rumor that people who received inconsistent performance rating last year due to not following in-office adherence will be laid off? I am on a very small team and I believe I am the only one on my team who got an IP so I’m freaking out. My role is a grade level 3 phone role.

My understanding is there will be another round of layoffs end of this month with the end date being middle of June. It is possible it slightly gets pushed back but from what I’m hearing they want the list locked and announced end of month. Optum insight and optum health for sure will be impacted.

Like many folks at Fidelity, most people don’t have a separate QCI meetings but those managers randomly schedules a QCI this Thursday can only mean one thing. RIF. The RIFs have been verified by multiple sources who have access to high level management. I got the random QCI invite this morning which coincides with managers getting the list of people on the list. Stay strong. Nothing we can do but move forward and hope Abby can catch up to the 3 trillionaires in the world while destroying countless families who have elevated her there.

Anyone have any realistic estimates of how many will be impacted by the alleged layoffs this week?

The consensus seems to be this Thursday. I haven't heard much beyond that. If the rumors are true, does anyone know which orgs or roles are on the block?

And more next week? Is that the actual timeline? Just piecing together rumors and posts.
