Layoff Call - can someone help explain it?

How do they communicate the severance agreement? Personal email or what? I know my coworker was laid off in November and lost immediate access to computer. So how do they communicate the info?

I have thought about this. If I get the layoff call, I will not be speaking on the call, I will type in the chat only. I am not giving them that final satisfaction of hearing my voice ever again or any of my emotions.

This was a Good Layoff in IT - Long Overdue

Targeting the level 15 was long overdue. Most of them were promoted due to favoritism and not talented and do not contribute anything significant over a level 13.

Many of the grade 15 I knew were given LoP out of favoritism, failed many deliverables and instead of being put on PIP, was covered by their manager pulling corporate politics. The 15 were getting paid more than midpoint.

The majority of 15 in TOS are a serious waste of the department budget and I approve of them getting laid off and they won't be missed.

Laid off 9/2, Job offer 1/15

I was laid off 9/2 in MA. Developer, Database org, over 50 with 25+ years of service. The job search absolutely su-ked. Coding tests, ghosting, false promises, impossible interview questions; just brutal.

I finally did get an offer for about the same $$ as I was making at O.

The biggest obstacle was the lack of cloud based buzzwords on my cv e.g. snowflake, kubernetes, lambda, etc. Oracle development is composed of all proprietary cr-p of absolutely zero market value in the real world.

I am sharing this info as a data point for others who may be in the same situation in case someone finds it helpful to know the search is not easy but not hopeless either. I was close to giving up but glad I didn’t.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake and more cancelled by Ubisoft, with layoffs potentially on the horizon

It also appears that more layoffs may be in Ubisoft's future too. We already knew that their Halifax studio is being shuttered, but according to VGC, the company is also considering the sale of other assets. On top of this, CFO Frederick Duguet said, "There are some people who will be refocused on other big projects, and some may leave the company." An exact figure wasn't specified in terms of staff members being moved or laid off.

I have yet to see these layoffs make sense

Some teams have been literally butchered, but kept in place. I lost three people you could always rely on. What's the deal? Destroy institutional knowledge? Make sure to get rid of the most valuable and competent people? Save thousands to lose millions down the road? Does anyone in this company think strategically, or beyond maximizing profits like right now?

Why is T-Mobile not releasing layoff numbers?

T-Mobile has refused to release the exact number or even a ballpark number of positions eliminated. One has to wonder why? What is the leadership hiding?

Srini Gopalan and Deeanne King must be cowards if they dont have the guts to share the layoff numbers. Usually people do things quietly and with lack of transparency when they are not doing the right thing.

Severance costs absorbed by orgs now

In case you haven’t heard, severance is no longer funded by the company at corporate higher level. Organizations have to absorb those costs now. Those orgs are not going to be as willing to lay people off vs just firing for whatever reason they come up with.

Of course they have to RIF at the bottom. They keep hiring at the top

Look at the super senior, very expensive roles thay have created just in the last 3 months. one or two levels just below Stephanie

Chief Tecnhology operations Officer
Head of commercial finance
Head of Corporate Finance
Global Talent, Learning and AI Work Enablement
global head of pricing
Head of incident management
Client success for strategic accounts
Market Engagement leader

each will build their own new army, duplicate costs and add confusion to respoinsbility and accountability

Has anyone contacted a Lawyer?

There’s a clause in the severance that states “you can not work for any competitor with in 12 months of accepting”. This seems highly unfair after a whole career in wireless. What an I supposed to do? Finds a completely different field and forget my years of experience? That’s so unfair… take the money and shut up or starve while you look for work!

Regional and Area done Today

Today is a really sad day. Losing such talented and hardworking colleagues hurts deeply. You all made a real impact and this doesn’t define your worth. Wishing you strength and success as you begin the next chapter of your life

Brace yourself, layoffs coming soon

I work for NetSuite ACS Team, I had a one on one with my manager, I'm close to my manager. I was indicated, we might have another round of layoffs soon.

Oracle as a company is doing bad, debt is very very high and the funds for NetSuite has been bad or over y months now.

My manager said, layoffs happen on random people, nothing to do with performance mostly.

Any idea? Anyone heard of this?

How Do Layoffs Work here?

I'm newer to OI... how do they typically let people know that they have been laid off? Is it a last minute meeting? Do you get an meeting invite at the beginning of the day? Are you told individually or is it in groups? Is it your manager sharing the news or is it typically HR? Like all of us- I am nervous!
