I currently work at Oracle Pleasanton office. I previously worked at the Santa Clara office. I am glad to have gotten out of there.

At the Pleasanton office. Every day I am surrounded by self-entitled D-Bags. These people really think they are better than everyone and look down at you. There are also many D-Bags at the Santa Clara office too. Hopefully with continued lay-offs at Pleasanton and Santa Clara Oracle gets rid of more of the D-Bags.

If you have any regard for yourself, don't take a PIP seriously

It's a torture device that ends one way - you getting shown the door. PIPs have been used as an excuse to purge people for years, now they're just cranking it up. My advice is to play along, put zero effort into "improving," and spend every ounce of energy job hunting. XOM isn't the greatest company on earth. There are plenty of better places, smaller ones, often, that actually value their people.

How is it that they always manage to lay off the best performers?

I'm dreading the coming week. Losing the literal backbone of our team has made it impossible to keep up, and everyone around me is struggling too. Work was stressful before, now it's three times worse. And you know what happens if we don't perform? That becomes the excuse to cut us next. If results actually mattered, maybe they'd have thought harder about who they let walk.

Was on Medical Disability for Cancer treatment, was laid off

I was undergoing cancer treatment and radiation therapy when my manager asked me if I could work three days a week and take a part-time FMLA instead of the full disability leave. This would allow me to regain my rhythm and continue earning commissions.

I decided that this arrangement would be beneficial for my morale and overall well-being, so I agreed. However, two weeks later, I was laid off! I had been pre-approved for the entire year to receive 90% of my pay and full medical coverage. Now, I will lose my coverage and have no job or income while I am recovering. I spoke to a few lawyers, but they all told me that I was in trouble.

D-mb question

If you get laid off and get say 6 months severance and you currently put 1k per month into 401 k does Nike give you the 6k or do they deposit the 6k into 401k? Trying to figure severance numbers just in case. Thanks

Elimination of Pension Security

This week’s announcement has serious implications and indicates the company is moving towards elimination of the pension. You could have worked for decades and be days away from receiving your pension at 55 and lose it all under the new system. If you are staying for the pension and it is what is keeping you here I recommend you think hard and critically on what the chances are that you actually receive a pension. Clearly Darren wants it gone. Executives have their huge pile of RSUs and the pension means very little to them. They would like to eliminate the pension so the stock pops higher.

OLD SYSTEM
If are NRE and placed in NSI:

  • you are put on a DPC. You cannot fail the DPC. Basically you couldn’t be fired for “low performance” if NRE

If you were not NRE and placed in NSI:

  • if 3 times in last 5 years you have been NSI you were mandatory to be fired (PIL)
  • else if you are NSI you could choose between PIP and PIL
  • if you failed the PIP you were fired

NEW SYSTEM after 2026
NRE and DPC eliminated from policy. You can be fired for “low performance” even if you have worked successfully at the company for decades and are just a few months or days from reaching 55 when you would be eligible for retirement. You can lose it all.
If you are placed in NSI:

  • if 2 times in last 5 years you have been NSI you are mandatory to be fired (PIL)
  • else you can choose between PIP and PIL
  • if you fail the PIP you are fired

NEW SYSTEM IN 2026 ONLY
NRE and DPC eliminated from policy but if you are NRE and NSI then PIP will be offered and if you don’t pass you will be fired. You can also just take the PIL.
If you are placed in NSI:

  • if NOT NRE, NSI at any time in last 4 years, and NSI in 2026 you are mandatory to be fired (PIL)
  • else if NSI you can choose between PIP and PIL
  • if you fail the PIP you are fired

Message from your former leader

Group, I should have been more aware of my demise by reading this forum for the past couple of years. I should have put on my clown shoes a few years ago and sat on the plank of the dunk tank as you all would have saved the company at 10 quid a toss. Anyone out there have a good number to call HR so I can get my golden parachute? It's so tough to get an audience with someone who can help. Best regards, Bandy

It’s time to leave

This company is going down, the job market isn’t nearly as bad as what people are saying. You are so smart! There are companies that value your time and won’t fight you to make progress. It’s time to send out applications. It’s not worth staying here and fighting, they sold us all out, but the future for you is bright.

Documented Coaching out of the blue

Manager put me on documented coaching out of the blue.
Last quarter review was good. This quarter was slow with no high-impact projects and zero vision from the Tech Lead.
No feedback on what I did wrong and no forward-looking plan. I’m not getting any actual coaching, just told to "do my work" and document.
Questions:

  1. Is this just a paper trail to prep for an LR?
  2. Should I just tell them I’m happy to leave if they want me out, or will I lose my severance/leverage?
  3. Anyone actually survive this?

Anxiously awaiting the “Ka-ching”

Today is supposed to be the last day of my waiting period. Did anyone get their final shot separation papers yet? Maybe it’ll be end of day. Oracle will be giving my retirement a good start with 6 months salary and I will also qualify for unemployment, because maybe I still want to work, maybe…LOL. This is a much better retirement gift than any going away lunch or retirement watch. I’m very thankful for this blessing, I just need that final check to sail off into the next chapter.

NCR Atleos Botched RiF

I am ex employee who was affected by last month's RiF. To date, my health insurance was terminated 4 days early and they have "ghosted" me when I am asking for updates on when I will receive my severance payments. Not surprising for this company of course. Anyone else have similar issues?

Find your next!

If you are thinking about leaving, leave! This MC is making a ton of bad decisions and the titanic known as Fiserv is taking on water. Find your lifeboat and get out. It is only a matter of time and I assure you, they do not value you or your knowledge. And at this stock price.... decision is a lot easier.

February commission payments still not done

EMEA commissions statements are typically ready on 6th-8th of the payment month. January looked like an outlier, being the 9th. However, as of 10th April, there is no statement for February.

So, what happened:

  1. The comms team got RIF'd - unlikely
  2. It's just a bit late - possibly
  3. Something more sinister is going on in EMEA linked to the RIF - probably

Lack of respect for employees by Oracle - the gift that just keeps on giving.

Cleveland District Pays Consultant $272K for Layoff Planning

Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) hired an HR consultant. The district paid coLeague $272,000 for a seven-month contract. This consultant was engaged to help plan upcoming staff layoffs and reassignments. Critics question the high cost, arguing internal staff could manage this task. CMSD states the consultant provides interim leadership and supports decisions, not determines staffing levels.

If there are layoffs…

I think they will be announced by April 27-28. That would allow the layoffs to wrap up before the start of Q4 while also giving 60 days of notice under the California WARN Act. They did the same thing in 2023. Hang in there, everyone.
