Today I was impacted by layoffs over at Mattel. I'm completely heartbroken bc this was my dream job. It was a privilege working on Hot Wheels, Barney, Thomas & Friends, American Girl, Jurassic World & more.

EMEA CSG layoff started this week. Already heard from 3 different coworkers. They're also saying VSP is beginning in countries where people can't be easily laid off.
Any other region impacted?
Those impacted in Caleb’s org - were you told that it is strictly due to your location? Any other reasons given?
I work in federal services and am wondering if anyone knows if the reopening of the government will restore a lot of the members we keep losing due to the shut down. It’s been awful hearing from members how this is impacting them and their family. Those have jobs aren’t getting paid and others are now losing their health coverage.
I heard from a very reliable source 15% of the VEC MDU team is being impacted(Fios or Fixed Wireless) leaders have already had meetings with the HR Team and senior executives at the end of October to go over which employees will be impacted in the roles includes Client Executives,Associate Directors, Directors, and Senior Directors, basically each team will now have 4 client executives and covering more areas, 1 Associate director for the entire state, No more director roles, Q1-Q2 employees last day on payroll not December…if you dont believe me ask your leader what there “all day meeting was end of October” and see if everyone is giving vague answers, this layoff is starting from the top and trickling down to the bottom. calender invites will be sent out Nov 19th end of business day and your leaders will have two meeting Nov 20th, one is with the impacted employees and the other will be with the remaining team to notify them of what is happening. If your received a Leading you are technically safe, if you have any correction action disciplinary/attendance action, or your area is not performing or has decline in performance that might be an opportunity. There will also be a meeting being held with the new business module this week everyone should have a calender invite, I cant confirm any other areas of the business being impacted just this one!
If so, what orgs were impacted?
I have already asked my supervisor and he does not know.
Please share if your team has been affected.
Do you know if we'll have job cuts soon and whos affected? Also, are they planning to close any stores and what's the impact on Shake Shack corp?
Any insight on the impact for the next big yearly layoff that occurs every 2nd week of Jan.? I estimate 15% for 2026.
Anyone here impacted ?
Brace for the impact :(
Big news next week. Chris you are not doing good job. You should leave with Venkat sinking entire company...
1st announcement shocked all employees on Nov-14-2023. Second one on March-2024 , repeating same window. you couldnt recover company even after 10% layoffs in last 2 rounds and silent layoffs from past 2 years. Dump your OneTru OneDev; At the end only you both will remain as ChrisTru and ChrisDev
Now you are ready to dump your stocks with the result of layoffs
If so then your org is impacted for Nov LRs
Big layoffs hitting tomorrow unfortunately
Multiple people in Operations in Carlsbad. Any impacts anywhere else?
Hearing rumors of a change in corporate domicile from UK to USA. How will this move affect jobs in both countries
If you as a US Citizen Worker cannot see this now (yet) and think this is all jargon talking points or fear mongering, I think you probably need to think about it.
Just spend an hour or two doing some internet searches on the subject matter. This will not only effect you but your children and grandchildren’s economic futures.
This will be a global impact, the US will be hit the most. just my opinion based on the vibe.
There seems to be a big RIF coming. Not sure exactly who’s impacted but seems like there’s going to be a lot. Today was the last day HR submitted it in their “RIF Tracker”. Goodluck yall.
Is it a coincidence that as soon as Verizon partnered with these two Indian companies everything started getting much worse? Or am I being unfair?
Let’s try to keep a list in one place. Based on what people have shared so far, it might actually be easier to point out which orgs seem safe. It’s looking really bad. I’m so sorry we all have to go through this.
how are these areas not impacted?
Got the layoff email from Melissa - 9am ct today.
I heard that everybody but GT (why not???) is having layoffs today in EMEA. Is that right? How many have been impacted?
I find the ask to wfh next week really icky. What happened to all that talk about connection and collaboration? These are layoffs. There are real people that are going to be affected. Not just another headline.
Anyone have insight oh how thia will affect Engine?
Good luck
How do you think we will be impacted by layoffs.
Was let go along with a few of my colleagues. I was not expecting anything different from management. Sent my stupid worthless laptop they think is more precious than people. Hope everyone is doing well. I have 2 kids and it hurts me to see them in their eyes to say Daddy is not working today
I was impacted and reading everyone’s threads has been both reassuring and sad. Thank you to everyone for sharing openly and honestly— when work culture suffers from toxic leadership and snuffs our ability to have actual community and honest conversation about the company we work(ed) for, we came here— I’m glad for that. I also am not using “toxic leadership” to score a hit— it’s a real construct with indicators and impact. Reading about it might help you put more objective (sorry for this term) language to what you’re experiencing.
If you’re still at Gartner, I do not envy you. I would prefer to still be working there rather than be unemployed, but I also can’t imagine what it was like/is like to be making calls and selling people on a place you can no longer trust. That would be hard.
My advice to those currently recruiting would be to not trust internal communications about Gartner performance. Remember that it benefits them to make you believe we are doing well. This makes us more effective sellers. I was an effective seller, and I am left feeling guilty for selling people on a lie- I put them in a position to experience what I have just gone through.
Trust what you are seeing with stock prices and quiet layoffs, and make a plan for if things change quickly. I had no plan, and I am paying for it now- the best I can do now is to suggest it to others.
If you’re a well-intentioned leader and you’re reading this, please know that I (and others) understand that you passed down the information you were given, which was the misleading “Gartner is doing great” speak that was all but smashed over our heads in the Q2 town hall. The best you can do is to not repeat this kind of speech to your teams: it leads to us being unprepared. We also get enough of it already through the carefully crafted corporate comms that reassure us we are a great company at all times. You don’t have to add your voice if you know there’s risk ahead for your people.
I will never get to speak to those who intentionally misled people who make 5% of their salary. Those most senior leaders manufactured security through talk tracks and inside Gartner emails that assured us of growth and opportunity, while designing layoffs in private. They do not know you and do not care about you. They will end your healthcare at midnight and give you four weeks of severance, all while telling you “when we do the right thing, great results will follow.”
Be very cautious, whether you’re still there or not. Have a plan. I am still most grateful for the people who did work ethically and without acting like Gartner gave a damn beyond the bottom line.
Myself and a bunch of other people got laid off in the health area at Allstate.
Barnhart layoff update…pls post which department(s) were affected.
Spell out acronyms please. I see lots of posts about people working 8 hours in the office but there are some of us who are worried about working zero (0) hours soon.
