I actually want out now

Things changed dramatically after my last manager was laid off and the new one came in. The constant criticism, micromanagement, and obvious favoritism have made the job exhausting. I'm actually finding myself hoping my position gets eliminated because leaving with severance sounds better than continuing like this. That's how bad it's gotten.

My team is filled with scam artists

They always act like they're doing something, they always have to talk about something to the manager to make it seem they're so busy, but at the end of it all, they end up doing nothing! It's the rest of us that do the actual work. they just appear busy. How do you even deal with people like this when they have your manager's ear?

Good news

It's Friday and this is the first full week that I am not working for a company that doesn't appreciate the value that at least one employee brought to a company's customer where we always kept the customer's well being top of mind. I was in the OCI org in North America, and I would be lieing to you if I told you that I had a great relationship with my manager who I would call today a true id--t -- he would be a great engineer but an incrediblly stupid manager and the irony is they kept him haha. Sorry for my ex-peers that are stuck with him.

Do you know what my favorite memory of this place is?

Losing both my direct and skip level managers in a single layoff round I survived. Both were complete a--holes, so to say that was one of the best days of my life would be an understatement. Yes, there was a lot of confusion and issues until everything settled down, but it was worth it.

PIP Program at Fiserv is a pure Fraud.. Manager doesn't want you to succeed and come out of PIP..

Fiserv's back door program TO GET RID OF GOOD PEOPLE WITHOUT SEVERANCE IS is PIP..

Manager puts you in PIP.. cr-p .. you have been here for 20+ years , recorded high performance, then puts all kinds of restrictions to not come into office , not show up in office over the weekends to make up the work.. then HR sh-t terminates in 2 minutes.. no discussion and no conversation...

We need a class action lawsuit on this process.. working with a damn good employment attorney..

Be careful how you deal with problematic leaders at EJ

A senior leader kept making derogatory remarks, so I eventually stopped engaging with them socially. After that, my manager started ignoring my contributions, and not long after that, I suddenly had a bad performance review for the first time ever. Funny how that happened.

What was the moment you realized the workplace was the problem?

Source: K. Box

Harvard Business Review found that 58% of employees trust a complete stranger more than their own boss.

That sounds wild until you’ve worked for the wrong person.

Then you understand it immediately. A bad boss doesn’t always yell.

Sometimes it’s vague expectations.
Feedback that changes depending on the day.
Credit that disappears before it reaches your name.
Meetings you stop getting invited to.
A paper trail that somehow only includes your mistakes, not the context around them.

Then your behavior starts to change.

You over-explain.
You reread every message.
You stop asking direct questions.
You start keeping receipts because you don’t trust what will be said later.

That’s what broken trust at work does. It doesn’t just make the job harder. It makes you second-guess your own judgment.

And most people don’t leave after one big blowup.

They leave after one more meeting where the story changes.
One more rule that only seems to apply to them.
One more moment where they realize they’re documenting reality instead of doing their job.

At some point, it clicks:

You didn’t fail in that environment.

You were trying to survive it.

Worst Managers at WF

Previously, we had a Manager who failed to manage effectively and merely offered praise to the 'assistant' manager on the team, who contributed very little. Now, we have a manager who focuses on overseeing the fonts we use in our emails. Wells Fargo really knows what they are doing.

“It’s either you or me..”

My manager put me on a PIP. He basically made it clear it was either him or me without coming out and saying it directly. Then he told me this whole story about his newborn having health issues, his parents struggling, and how he can’t afford to lose his job since he’s the main earner in his family.

What about my family?

new assessment system is a tool for insecure managers

You get moved often, and when you do you will run into a crazy i secure manager who just thrives on power and is absolutely incompetent. they ill see your rise and out of envy tank your ranking — this was not possible or allowed in previous ranking system. an important check to not let people move too much at the whim of a crazy manager. why is this even allowed? is our HR crazy? the amount of talent we lose actively and passively because of this is not worth whatever this process is going for. please do the right thing, do the human thing — EM managers are not trained or capable of running fair talent management processes, protect the employees.

I'm enjoying the schadenfreude

I was laid off at the start of the year, but managed to find a new job quickly. My team was dysfunctional to put it mildly, with no support and a manipulative culture. After 6 months, a friend tells me they replaced me with someone younger and cheaper, who lasted three full weeks before quitting under the same strain. Can't say I didn't laugh and feel somewhat vindicated.

VATC AI failure

VATC is such a joke, my prediction is Visa will rollback on their layoffs and try to hire back alot of people next year after they realize the tool is a complete failure and waste of time and money and literally has caused incidents to shoot up.

VATC is a such a failure, work that took minutes to do now takes hour or even days because they are shoving this failed tool down peoples throats.

I haven’t spoken to a single person that thought this was going to be a success.

I've worked in stressful places before, but Nike is something else

Constant criticism, impossible expectations, managers who seem to enjoy making people feel small, and the list goes on. It isn't just unpleasant, it's psychologically damaging. I'm now questioning my own competence, my value, and my sanity. This place is something else.

my life after intel

just joined the best tech company and they gave me a stanley, as a gift. had a flashback about how right after joining intel i wanted similar stanley from intel store and asked my manager to gift it for me one day, and he said "you can forget about it, we are not even gonna gift you a fu--ing pen". can confirm that during all those years of service, indeed, not even a pen(ny)

Managers here are a joke

I have this recurring fantasy to swap roles with my boss for a month. Let them try to handle the workload, the complexity, and the constant pressure. Let them see what it's actually like. I'm pretty sure they'd be begging to trade back within a week. But they'll never know, because they'd never survive.

gift from USAA

you guys hired one of the worst managers in your compliance teams to fill up the role in the compliance team . she was one of the worst managers I ever had plus zero understanding of the space. glad she was hired by frost. enjoy ruining your culture & program. soon it will be realized. I hope she hires the baby ducks left here.

Nutanix strives at finding new ways to pay you less

Nutanix has become filled with outsiders from Dell In VMware. They were worthless at their prior companies and they’re being brought over by their friends. Nutanix strives at finding new ways to pay you less. When I first started the company you had really good opportunities to make money. Those days are gone. My manager was a joke. He managed up and didn’t care about the people that worked for him. He would set one on one calls and ask you what you wanted to talk about. I didn’t wanna talk to him because he was useless. The great people have been let go one by one and the clowns run. The circus morale is in the toilet and people are looking for jobs. I wish all the people there are the best of luck get out while you can.

Well said, @3zv+1kz6hy1a0.

Stop dressing it up as “leadership.”

"Some bosses aren’t leaders.
They’re bullies with titles.
And pretending otherwise only protects the wrong people.

A bad boss doesn’t just make work annoying.
They make people doubt themselves.
They drain confidence.
They turn Sunday night into a stress spiral.

They make good employees wonder if they’re the problem.
They usually aren’t.

DDI found that employees with leaders who genuinely care about their well‑being are 3x more likely to be engaged — which is the least surprising statistic on earth.

People do better work when their leader actually gives a damn.

And you can hear the difference instantly.

A boss says:
“Figure it out.”
“That’s your problem.”
“I don’t have time for this.”
“You’re lucky to have a job.”
“I don’t pay you to think.”

A leader says:
“Let’s work through it.”
“What do you need?”
“Let’s prioritize.”
“I appreciate what you bring.”
“Tell me what you think.”

That’s not “soft.”
That’s real leadership.

People remember how you acted when things got hard.
They remember who had their back.
And they absolutely remember the person who used authority to make them feel small.

A title makes you a boss.
How you treat people decides whether anyone follows you."

DO NOT WORK HERE

its a sh---y place to work, its a sweat shop where employees are treated badly. H1b workers/contractors be careful before joining, you will be under constant threat, fear and micro-management. Be very careul from the indian managers they are the worst, and extremely incompetent, constant org politics goes on here and constantly different teams are fighting with each oher, also constant outsourcing to India is another part of the story, be very careful beore joining unless the work cuture improves.

How does the other half live?

As long as you're not on the Gainwell account and not within the contentiental U.S. You have it made compared to the other.

Working on the Gainwell account is as if you're never left Gainwell. As you still have to put up with all the B*S, gas lighting, etc. Now you have the benefit of experiencing from both Gainwell and the NTT leadership directly over you.

Good luck trying to find another position within the company, unless you're off-shore. Most of the available positions for what I do or want to do are based over in India/Asia.
Basically, the hype about you building a career and being who you want to be at NTT, is just that hype, as it baised towards the cheaper labor overseas.

Training that isn't skillsoft. I payed out of pocket myself. It was the only way to get decent training opportunites.

The only upside is I work remote. Which eliminates me having to pay for home visit healthcare that I otherwise would have to pay for , if I had to go into an office. (The wife is disabled and wheelchair bound)

As you can tell, I don't have a high opinion of NTT and my immediate managers. Everyday is like being thrown into a pool with your hands and feet tied to a concrete block, as you try to wade water and catch your breath whenever possible. And they just keep dumping water over your head.

I used to think leaving a job meant I failed

This place taught me that couldn't be further from the truth. I have been a high performer, always available, never complaining, and yet I got miserable raises and no promotion. Elevance is the one that did everything wrong and accepting that has been so liberating. That was confirmed to me when my manager panicked when I told him I was leaving. They even wanted to counter the offer I got. Too little too late.

The six-month lesson

I lasted just over six months at CDW. The red flags were there from the start, from disrespectful culture, to no innovation, to managers who couldn't manage. I stopped caring how it would look on my resume. I needed out. More power to the people who can handle this place, but that's not me.
