Need advise what to do with PTOs as I am one affected by the recent layoffs. Do we get them paid out or take them prior to leaving?
US Employees Mostly
I’m hearing that it was mostly US employees affected. Input from overseas origin management drove much of the selection process.
Mainframe Roles
Any mainframe developers affected in this layoff?
Pandemic cuts
Fidelity pushed the non-tech to tech roles during the pandemic. Then finally someone realized it’s better to pay more for people who know what they’re doing. Next cut will be managers who aren’t qualified and have been in their roles too long. Weak... — read more
Best thing that could have happened
I was laid off last week and I have to say I feel nothing but relief. I was one bad week away from resigning with nothing lined up. Now I get a package and a clean exit. I know not everyone is in the same position, so I hope the others affected are... — read more
For the people laid off what was your total comp?
Curious.. What was your grade, salary, share amounts?
Audiobooks until the end of the month…
Do not recommend House of Fidelity.. but… This book really helped me get through a tough transition when i left the firm. I highly recommend for those impacted in the tech space https://a.co/d/0jkcO8Xz Bit of a click bait title - but Erika used to... — read more
very strange !! keeping contractors, laid off only FTEs
contractors paid more then FTEs for same work ? any company will retain their FTEs and lay off contractors for any scenario!!
For laid off employees:
Would you consider finding an internal role and staying or are you completely done with fidelity? What are some of the pros and cons? I’ve seen a lot of people who were laid off last round come back either full time or contract so just curious.
For those who think it’s over
1000+ roles might not seem much but majority of these were VP, SVP level roles. When these leadership roles are filled, the teams are consolidated and there WILL BE natural redundancy introduced that will further fuel reduction in future. The... — read more
Age?
This comment from a Fidelity spokesperson gives me pause and makes me wonder what the median age of those impact by the RIF is. I’m 52 and was laid off last week. If you were laid off, share your age below. “These changes are about getting the... — read more
How much will they really use RTO to clear out the ranks?
It's been an attrition tool everywhere else, first and foremost. But people are hanging on to their jobs. The market is brutal, so they're meeting all the RTO demands. I wonder how this will actually play out here.
Anyone else have their role changed?
Maybe your role wasn’t eliminated but it’s different now… you’re managing a lot more people suddenly or not managing people anymore? Or you were asked to go down a level in title or comp?
Profound build out and planning
To have a modern workforce, nimble, ready to work at anytime and anywhere, and now they return us to our father’s old fashioned office drudgery. We aren’t “liberated” we’re back to being pawns and cogs whatever you want to call it! All that... — read more
FCAT
Is FCAT impacted? Are tech teams in Boston impacted?
Earlier post brings up vesting
Do you think we’re more of a target for a layoff if we’re under five years? When u got hired it was a big deal Fidelity wanted us to stay on and it seemed they wanted us happy now I’m worried since I’m just a year a way from fully vested.
At least the severance is still decent for now
I keep thinking the day is coming (probably sooner rather than later) when they’ll cut that too, and layoffs will become ten times harder on people. Finding a new job already isn’t easy in this market, but having a solid safety net while you search... — read more
FILI

Delivery Owner?
Who now truly owns delivery if scrum masters, squad leads, and coordination layers are reduced?
Which roles are being removed: Agile roles, middle managers, product roles, contractors, senior ICs?

This is how I am understanding it: much larger teams with fewer leaders mgrs w/ more direct reports Scrum master, Agile coach, program, project, and squad-lead roles being reduced More expectation that engineers and ICs manage execution... — read more

This isn't temporary
People keep saying the cuts are done or will end soon. I've been here long enough to know they won't. This is just how we operate now.
Any G8 who were force to take a pay cut to G7?
Heard some G8 were force to take a pay cut and become G7 and if they didn't accept those terms. They're gone and would not even get the severance package.
did “agile coaches” know about this ahead of time, strategically speaking?
We were first introduced to these ‘traveling’ resources when the Spotify model rolled through. Are they the ones leading the “next re-org” too? If not, were any of them impacted in this? Or are they the ones pushing the enablement lead lingo…
