Volunteer for PIP / Pil denied

I am 57. Dropped from Excellent to good, to NI over thr last 3 assessments. I approached my supervisor about volunteering for NSi and would take the PIl. He told me it could not be arranged. Anyone experience this? I am ready to leave. I guess just wait to see where i fall in the assessment this year

Can someone explain how only 2,000 employees (<3%) are being laid off??

The email on 1/29 from the HR boss said: “In addition to those colleagues who chose to participate in the latest Voluntary Retirement Program, we plan to reduce our global workforce by approximately 2,000 roles (less than 3% of the enterprise) by the end of February.”

All the teams I’m aware of were cut between 5-20% on 1/29. So how is it possible that Cigna is cutting LESS THAN 3% of employees? Were there a lot of areas that didn’t have ANY layoffs? If so, which ones?

It seems like more than 2,000 people were laid off just on 1/29. And more layoffs are coming in Feb. based on the email. I don’t get the math unless they’re outright lying.

Erosion of People Culture at Dell

Over the past two to three years, there has been a noticeable and troubling shift in Dell’s people culture. What once stood out as the company’s strongest asset—the fabric of trust, inclusion, and employee-centric values—appears to have steadily deteriorated.

This change feels less incidental and more deliberate. Decisions increasingly seem driven by cost-cutting and downsizing, with little regard for preserving the culture that once defined the organization. Instead of investing in engagement and retention, there appears to be an unspoken acceptance—if not encouragement—of voluntary attrition as a means to reduce headcount and save money.

It’s disheartening to witness the gradual unraveling of a culture that many employees valued deeply. What was once a source of pride has now become a cause for concern—and that is truly a shame.

Eisp will be the regular on the associates side in march

Sounds pretty sure thing there will be a regular eisp in march for union side.Pretty much after the frontier communication merger is over.Sound alike it will be across board to all groups but with limited head count. Not to say if an area has some more people in one location that want it yet not so many in another they can’t shuffle it around under that director .But no way if they ask for 2 they let a whole gang leave just not sensible !Good luck 2026

Keene State College Cuts Dozens Of Jobs

Keene State College is addressing a four-million-dollar budget shortfall by cutting dozens of jobs. Of the 25 positions eliminated, eight were vacant and 12 faculty members agreed to leave under a voluntary incentive plan. Most cuts take effect on January 2nd, with the remaining ones following early next year. The school’s deficit follows nearly 18 million dollars in cuts to the University System of New Hampshire.

Last month at Oxy coming up.....

Took the VSP and now going to the next phase in my life. Oxy has been really good to work for and I appreciate being able to leave on my own terms with the help of the VSP. I wish all those that are taking the VSP well on this new journey in life, and I will be pulling for all those still working at Oxy. Good luck to all and I hope you and your families are all blessed. Thank you Oxy for making this possible.

VSP

I got pretty lucky a while ago after almost 30 yrs i took the VSP and was in the first group in September 2024 at 62...

my verizon health care ends at the end of november and if i want to keep it, it will be out of pocket.

i am covering the last 22 months till i hit 65 and get medicare with va health care, and i still have a good chunk of my vsp money left to live on for now...

i have not touched my 401 or my investmnts yet, and i have not filed for social security either.\

i agree that simplifying your life helps a lot and the drop in stress is a huge bonus!!!
but everyone has different situaitons, different ages and their own finances to adjust to...

work every angle, you might be surprised whats out there to help you.

i wish the best of luck to everyone at verizon dealing with the rif, and if you were good at what you did, another opportunity will come along.

Anyone plan to volunteer for the next RIF?

Does anyone else plan to volunteer for the next RIF? My manager said she firmly believes there will be another RIF after the Frontier merger and that it will impact our department. I have been unhappy in my role for the last year or so (largely due to changes that happened since the VSP). Can we volunteer for the next RIF? Or does that not carry any weight?

The Ellison clan is spreading their magic. :)

LE's son's acorn didn't fall far from the tree:

I wonder if LE is more interested in this industry more than high-tech.
The circus continues.
