What happens during your 15 minute layoff meeting?

I have not received one. I am just curious.

I know they read from a script and they don't deviate, do they bother to say at the end "Any questions?"

I'm assuming not, and if not do they give you an opportunity to say anything before they end the call? Even if you realize that they probably cannot respond to it.

Trending Needs Improvement

M2 here, I had a needs Improvement at mid-year and at my end of year. I knew that was going to be the case because I'm also on the map program.

I was told during my end of your meeting that this was in the past. But, we all know that if you're trending , that's not a good thing . Has anybody recently survived two inconsistently meets or needs Improvement?

Here is a great idea to anyone getting a meeting invite !!

Everyone in the company should do a sick call out!! Legally the company cannot make you attend a meeting or perform work( which is what a layoff meeting is) if you are out sick. It doesn’t change the end result— just messes their plans up, and gives you a sense of control in this.

“Read the room”

…something i wanted to say about 50 times today in meetings ads happened and assigning more work on projects that don’t even matter and likely are to be put on hold but can’t because no leaders are actually saying anything about the flattened structures or whatever, and we’re supposed to all act like nothing happened…the toxicity is toxicity-ing hard

Trump Meeting

Trump's White House meeting of oil execs on Friday to discuss Venezuela just showed the massive difference between Exxon and Chevron. For starters, Chevron's CEO didn't bother showing up, which was an absolute disgrace. Second, when the press was admitted into the meeting, Exxon's Darren Woods articulated the Venezuela challenge clearly and articulately, while Chevron's inadequate proxy of Mark Nelson only wanted to thank the Trump administration, not present to the world what was needed.
It just further illustrated that Chevron's leadership is second rate compared to Exxon, who play chess while Chevron tries to learn how to play checkers.

All Epic positions moving fully to Ireland

In recent meeting, we were told to expect all current and new Epic positions moving to Ireland. Apparently Epic is Ireland's national system. Never assume your job is secure. They will find a way to outsource when ever possible. I wouldn't be surprised if our entire division gets sold off soon.

Nawani seemed to be very nervous in the recent townhall

His body language was off and he glossed over the questions with one line replies, especially to the question on what the regulators have said or done since the last time they visited Citi.
and Why did E Drew throw the former leadership under the bus and was boastful about the data catalog (which is just a retooled version from a vendor I believe?) and other very average things that her huge team of 50+ have 'delivered'?

Lowlights of the staff meeting

Please post fun lowlights of staff meeting.

  • AI and agentic agents. Fortunately B. didn’t talk about autonomous workspace vaporware. Dex was supposed to be competing with control up several years back. Revenue is still not able to cover Bharat’s travel.
  • Guada talking about recognition slack channel to motivate everyone.
  • Someone asking about valuation in 2028. Will Omnissa be around by that time?
  • Suni forced laughter.
  • Simzhu volume is going lower quarter after quarter due to declining revenue.

Very interesting meeting today

We had a very very bizarre product team meeting where people kept licking AJays boots and got lectured on completely random and unrelated subjects. When topics on strategy and company health were arose, very very strange and veiled answers were provided by the CFO.

Spending on Fire - no one watching or cares??

There are many, many fun and frolicky events taking place and planned for January and February, sponsored by senior leaders, who have zero concern about spending money. Pretend meetings with special team building events costing hundreds of thousands of dollars. Can the Board know? Company is crying poor mouth and yet leaders seem to have no concern dropping company money on ski chalets and wine tasting.
