Serious trouble

AI is being implementd offshore by teams that dont have the necessary AI expertise and struggle with English communication and comprehension. What could possibly go wrong? It would be funny if it weren’t so sad. This company is in serious trouble. They keep laying off experienced, highly skilled employees in the US, and at some point you have to ask: who is left with the knowledge and experience to actually take care of the customer?

People still dream about 3M

Employee from Poland office here. Back in 2024 we had some layoffs, this year the company sold 75% of the workforce to outsourcing and we're just vegetating here, waiting to be disposed of as well. But no matter how bad it gets I'm still seeing people who believe that everything's going to be fine, the CEO will turn around, PH can't possibly offer the same level of services (there are romours that they will move everything from PL to PH) and keeping us is the best option. Seriously, where do people like this come from? The CEO is responsible for keeping profits high ( that means getting rid of me in favor of someone from India or PH), a drop in quality of service has literally no impact on company profits, and the remaining PL workforce, now packed in a 3M company barely anyone heard of (GSC got deleted from existence) is just a liability, but I still see people who think that we'll have a job this time next year. Am I working with mentally unstable people, are they toddlers, or is this some kind of shock caused by stress?

What would you tell a family member thinkng about joining cisco???

Need some advice from other folks on the board... my brother in law really wants to join cisco ... he thinks it would be a great move now. he has 10 years of experience as a developer (multiple stacks) in two F500 companies... He's been pushing me to help set him up with an interview...

problem is i'm prety jaded at this point. after so many layoffs, long hours, constant reorganizations... and general dysfunction, i don't exactly have a glowing view of the place anymore. i also don't want to dump all my frustration on him or make it sound like i'm trying to ki-l an opportunity he's excited about.

if someone you were close to wanted to join cisco right now, what would you tell them? ??? what are the biggest things you'd make sure they understood before interviewing or accepting an offer? trying to give him a fair picture without turning it into my personal rant.

Tech Layoffs - # of SV cuts in 2026 is already nearing 2025 total [Palo Alto Online]

Take it for what it's worth:

  • Silicon Valley tech layoffs are surging: 7,295 jobs were cut in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties in the first half of 2026—already within 9% of the total for all of 2025 and on pace for the worst year since 2023.
  • Layoffs don’t necessarily signal a recession: Despite heavy cuts, Silicon Valley unemployment was only 3.9% in June. Joint Venture Silicon Valley argues the region remains in an innovation “bo-m,” with pandemic-era overhiring and AI enabling companies to operate with smaller teams.
  • Meta accounts for a large share, and the true total may be higher: Meta cut roughly 3,382 local positions. The analysis relies on California WARN notices, which generally capture larger layoffs at larger employers, so researchers say the figures likely undercount actual job losses.

4900 Layoffs?

I know the rumor mill runs strong, especially since there is zero transparency. read a comment here that said 4900 layoffs were this week.

But if "4 out of 5 Centeamers who will be leaving are part of the VSP", is true - that means what, almost 25,000 overall reduction in headcount?

there's no way this is right. if so, GOOD LORD.

Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital Reduces Staff and Beds

Vermont Psychiatric Care Hospital has reduced its patient bed capacity by four. This decision was driven by a consistent decline in patient census over the past five years. As a result, three staff members in non-direct care roles were laid off. The hospital currently has nearly 60 open positions across the state system. These changes aim to better align staffing with actual patient needs and available resources.

Silicon Valley Tech Job Cuts Accelerate

Tech companies in Silicon Valley have significantly increased employee layoffs in the first half of 2026. These reductions are approaching the total number of job cuts seen throughout all of 2025. This trend suggests the tech industry is experiencing its most substantial workforce reductions since 2023. Despite these layoffs, the unemployment rate in Silicon Valley remains relatively low. Experts attribute the cuts to companies recalibrating after pandemic-era overhiring and the rise of AI technologies.

Crazy times

I find it so disturbing that there is NO communication going on about who has been let go, what the more global impact is going to be. The layoffs WILL affect every team at Centene in one way or another. My team had several take VSP but no lay offs (this time or so far)....they haven't even publicly said who on our team would be leaving by VSP. Absolutely zero communication from manager and above on any impact. I mean, we all know things will change across the board for folks still here....yet it feels so hush hush....meanwhile the VSP folks sit and wait until late next year to actually leave......assuming Centene is still around to pay folks out by then I guess......But lets keep preaching about that transparency......

El Paso Schools Cut 55 Positions

The El Paso Independent School District board of trustees has approved the termination of 55 employee contracts for the upcoming school year. This decision is part of a larger cost-cutting plan aimed at addressing a significant budget deficit. The affected employees include teachers, instructional coaches, and social workers. District leaders stated the move is a necessary effort to align the budget with student needs. Further administrative cuts to at-will positions may also occur without board approval.

What the actual fu-k is happening in this company right now?

I feel like I've drank some poisoned coolaid at the FY27 kickoff. Ever since the last round of restructuring, layoffs, optimisation or whatever the fu-k else you wanna call it the company processes have ground to a screeching maniacal halt. Sales? Unexistant. Licensing? Can't provide you with a license, can't tell a license for two completely different products apart, need to involve 50 people to provide a client with anything. Developers? Now part of Support?! Support? Can't hear a squeal out of them unless you invoke an ancient Latin spell - oh wait thats just all of their senior management's names im writing in the CC of this email, not Ancient Latin. Do they have the clients locked up with a g-n pointed to their head to keep signing up for these dorky a-s shifty products or something??? Every day in this company is like a Benadryl trip where any issue I have needs to be solved by the hat man I keep seeing with the corner of my eye that apparently doesnt fu--ing exist. Absolute misery.

PLs- VSP/RIFs can we all agree that most PLs are just there to look pretty and credit off their team’s work

My dept is losing high quality high performing employees. In my personal experience, my PL is an airhead that has absolutely no idea what they are doing. Has earned his title by faking it up the corporate ladder and with our losses they are not capable of picking up the extra work around. Is Centene reviewing the anon employee surveys. This would shed light on a trend that PLs are aweful when it comes to helping us get our work done. I wish these people would be let go of first. Thoughts? State your dept/state
