Seems the 30000 layoff is not immediate and it will be over long term. Seems the estimate was done by the firm for long-term analysis and not for this year and the estimate was purely based on funding to the future commitments.

Basically Senior Management with mostly India team with non-revenue workloads beware . You will be major targets. !00% you can start searching new jobs.

If you poke around some of the other company layoff pages, almost none seem to be as active as this one. Bank of NY Mellon is pretty dismal, but still lacks the sheer volume. Citi folks don't seem happy either, but even less volume there. Why does Wells Fargo seem to have the most vocally unhappy workforce? Is that a sign of how bad it actually is?

Does my performance review increase/decrease chances of being laid off?

To everyone freaking out potential layoffs:

1) Ask yourself the question, would they really have another round after laying off so many people?
2) why spread the pain out over a long period? Most firms, just rip the band aid and get it over and done with in one go.
3) most of the fat has been trimmed. What's left is some muscle and bone.
4) our stock is through the roof, aliviating any pressure from Wall St. No need to take out any further costs
5) the only people served by all the layoff talk are disgruntled ex Vz folks or current employees who think we can cut our way to prosperity

Whoever posted this on Reddit is right. This is why Unions in the United States are of the most absolute importance. If you did this in like let's say Japan? People would see this as a leadership failure and start to distrust the company entirely... In Sweden,? They'd be paying out these employees so long that the short term gains they might want to see before ramping up again in hiring would not warrant going through this. It is truly only in America that this sort of thing is seen as feasible.

Cigna plans to reduce its global workforce by approximately 2,000 positions, representing less than 3% of its workforce.

The layoffs will occur by the end of February.

A spokesperson for The Cigna Group said by statement: "As we drive greater efficiency across our business, we have made the difficult decision to reduce roles in our workforce. This decision was made with deliberate care and focus, and we are providing a package that includes a variety of transition services for impacted colleagues."

Cigna did not give specifics on which jobs or departments would be impacted.

The news coincides with Cigna’s Q4 and full-year 2025 earnings release in which the managed care company reported better-than-expected results for the quarter but set its full-year earnings guidance below expectations.

Well right before the centerwell town call meeting, Conviva/centerwell staff was laid off. Thats SW, CHWs, RNs and Managers. All CIT staff.

Nearly 96 employees at the Snyder of Berlin snack plant are in their final week. These workers were laid off almost two months ago. The plant is located in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. They cost too much. It's that simple. Companies prioritize immediate savings over quality and short-term gains over long-term health. That’s the core reason we’re in a downward spiral, and it will almost certainly get worse. There's no vision. No grand plan. The College of Wooster is reducing its staff due to financial pressures. Twenty-two positions were eliminated, including 18 full-time and four part-time roles. These cuts primarily affected administrative and non-student-facing departments. The college cited declining student enrollment and lower birth rates as key reasons. Enrollment has decreased from over 2,000 students in 2011 to more than 1,600 currently.

I just received a message from my amazing physician 2/7/26, that she is leaving Hennepin Health. My family is heartbroken. She was the best doctor all of us have ever seen. She listened, respected, was compassionate and always made time for us. Even the specialists we saw were amazing. We were at Whittier Clinic in the wonderful integrative health care clinic, which is being permanently closed at Whittier. Our community here in So Mpls is losing so much, in terms of medical accessibility and local businesses. Our community is already a food desert as well.

South Minneapolis is such a special place and my family has been here for four generations, since the redlining and covenants existed, which is why my grandparents could only live in this community.

I cant believe how much fraud and mismanagement has destroyed this community specifically (district 5), the city and the state. So many Americans are suffering under the impending economic collapse here and all anyone seems to care about are immigrants rights, as if no American citizens are also facing food, housing, medical and resource shortages and insecurities. We should be united and protesting this fraud! But no, the insanity and violence of these protestors and agigtators has negatively impacted our community and taken all of the attention away from the larger problem of state-wide fraud that hurts us all. What a shame.

I just heard over the wall of a manager who knows another manager that someone in HR who knows a director who said that 90% will be laid off on Wednesday. All sites. No WARN notices though because they do it in a way that they don't have to.

It looks like HP is laying off employees only to quietly rehire for nearly identical roles at significantly lower pay.

Blaming it on AI advancements or the so-called chip crisis feels like a convenient excuse
