When layoffs become the sole tool for every problem, it shows management has no real plan. It's a clear sign of failure and desperation. I've started my job search, and you should too. There's no future here.

UPS Kinston center will be closing, but there will be no union layoffs
“Today we had a change of operations meeting for the closing of UPS Kinston center. Fortunately, while the building is closing, all the employees have the opportunity to follow work, and none will be forced to be laid off! The benefits of having a union contract!! Thanks to all the Business Agents and Shop Stewards who ensured the company followed the contract protecting our.” – said Rick Armstrong of Teamsters Local 391.

January layoffs
Is it happening or not?
Layoffs 2”26
11 posts in a row with nothing really about layoffs. I made thru 25. I know there’s stuff brewing for 26, but I’m not sure how it’s all going shake out. AI and automation are going to play a big role in change. Just not sure what that looks like.
Entertainment and media layoffs up 18% with over 17,000 jobs slashed in 2025
In 2025, over 17,000 jobs were cut across television, film, broadcast, news and streaming in the first 11 months of the year. This figure was up 18% from last year, continuing a trend from the past few years as the industry has wrestled with consolidation and other pressures like the double strikes in 2023.

My team is a textbook example of botched layoffs
Almost all the strong performers are gone, and the useless su-k-ups are still here. Our old manager still reigns supreme and remains the worst I’ve ever had the misfortune to work under. They couldn’t have messed this up more if they had tried.
End of cleaning contract results in 211 layoffs
Some 200 Dallas residents will be out of a job early next year as Southern Methodist University makes changes to its janitorial services. In late December letter, ABM Texas General Services informed the Texas Workforce Commission that 211 team members will be laid off effective March 12.

Dan the Hatchet Man
Let me get this straight, Dan is Mr. AI, sits on multiple AI company boards, can clearly see in the the future so much that he slashes 13k jobs because AGI is 10 months away. But he only does email? Wait Mr. AI only does email a century old technology and doesn’t like slack a new technology with tons of AI functions. Yeah I don’t buy his little AI story. Hans was ousted by a coupe and Dan is trying to boost his pockets along with other prominent shareholders before Starlink takes ours and TMOs lunch.
When is the next round of layoffs?
Anyone hear anything?
Severance Portal Help
I can no longer access the Severance Portal from my personal computer following my last day worked (it worked prior to 12/19). It also won’t let me reset my password. I sent an email to the address I located with no response as of yet. We’re supposed to have access to it for 6 months. Is anyone else who was impacted also experiencing this? If so, any tips on how to get access again?
What are they thinking?
After so many rounds of cuts, good people leaving on their own, and a hiring freeze for ages, who is even left to lay off? The teams are already skeletal, and morale is nonexistent, to put it mildly. The next logical step shouldn't be just more layoffs, but questioning if the company can even function with the people who remain.
More layoffs are coming
Yes, more layoffs are coming but not before new year... all signs point to January/February time frame. Its about time they do something about our decline! They should have leaned out a while back but didn't want to pay out people's packages so instead they tried to push people out or change people's job to create a scenario that would allow them to let people go without a cause.
Bumping this for info, the OP is @10d+1kbqefsjs.
Nike heritage is over
was in outlets and Nike stores during holiday shopping with family. And they all had tons of AJs, AFs, Dunks and other classic styles by the tons and in deep discounts.
After this effort by Nike, I don't think that anyone with correct mindset will pay outrageous and bloated Nike Classic products in the future.
JD and Nike management couldn't stand resellers and tried to get rid of them. They couldn't stand the fact that anyone was making money off their product. Well they succeeded!! Because no one will touch it!! Nike Classics RIP, you are dead and buried.
Nike management in their infinite wisdom tried to ki-l all the roaches but ended up burning down the whole farm. LOL what a joke.
I have talked to few of the resellers and afficionados that I know and they are all out of the business. And they are so burned, they will not touch Nike products with 10 foot pole.
Sapiens layoffs
Employees describe shock, demotions, and a rapid overhaul following Advent’s $2.5 billion takeover.
“Sapiens was a very family-friendly and pleasant company for many years. CEO Roni Al-Dor was a people person. Employees went through fire and water with him, which is why everyone is so surprised now, and deeply hurt,” says one employee.

Stress causes mistakes
With nonstop stress from layoffs and constant overwork, I’ve been making more mistakes than I ever used to. I know I’m not alone in this. So far, my mistakes have been minor, but it’s hard not to wonder what happens when enough of us start slipping on things that should be straightforward. At what point do small errors turn into major ones?
Done with this place, off to greener pastures
Just joking. It is not even equal pay and benefits. But it is a much smaller, cozier company, the people in charge seem decent, overtime is not really a thing (I made sure to check), they are not doing constant layoffs, and it is an entirely different role. A change of scenery and pace is more than welcome, and I wanted to get ahead of what is inevitably coming - more cuts, offshoring, and mind-numbing stress. It’s a win in my book. Wishing you all the best.
Did layoffs ruin your mental health?
Wondering how many folks are seeking mental health services for the last 2 years of rolling massive layoffs to now end with performance management to reach the final HC. At least with Pat, there was compassion and empathy with the reorganizations.
Questions for those who've been RIFed before
From Verizon or anywhere else. What happens if you get a job right away, can you work at another place and still get your severance? On the opposite end of the spectrum, if the severance you got runs out before you are able to find another job, are you allowed to apply for unemployment?
Rider lays off 30 full-time faculty
The administration laid off 30 full-time faculty members on Dec. 29 as part of Rider President John Loyack’s March to Sustainability Plan. The move comes after the administration went to arbitration with Rider’s faculty union over how to layoff faculty.

So, no big layoffs yet?.....
At least they had the class to wait until after the holidays.
Waiting for redundancy
If DXC gets sold or has to declare chapter 11. You will get close to nothing. We just had a colleague laid off after 25 plus years and only got 15 weeks (based in US) For the love of whatever you believe in, read the terms for YOUR contract and location. I'm all for sitting around and doing nothing (it's quite nice) but look for an exit while you can so you are not blindsided. Leaving on your own terms is much nicer.
Failed managwrs
It has been over six months since I left Honeywell. And in that time that time looking back retrospectively, failed managers at Honeywell are constantly trying to keep their talent cheap and over worked.
Seeing people leave for more money was always a sign of hope that people are capable of more. Often managers are forced to offer, less than ideal candidates for rather serious roles. Seeing work flows occurred by people doing the minimum, or even just resume building for the presumed manager role in the future was scary.
If, and that is a big if, you find another role. Jump. It will be only be the best decision of your life. At least for me it was a less of a gamble, but rather, a healthy environment where you are treated like an adult and have actual opportunities to learn, grow and yes advance.
What will next week be like?
Do you foresee more mass layoffs? Reduced benefits? Or maybe some positive changes?
10% layoffs to start 2026

Forever Layoffs in 2026
Companies are going to avoid large layoff announcements to skirt the WARN Act. The new trend is to target specific employees directly every day with small, bite-size layoffs. It won't be departments anymore, it will be me and you with a number and date already set for us.
Performance Improvement Plans going to handed out to Seattle associates next week
Our IT manager let it slip today saying Leadership wants to cut 20% of low performers in Seattle. The performance improvement plans were created by HR to make them extremely difficult to pass.

Leave or always be ready, protect yourself.
This is coming from your friends across the highway in Deerfield (for now) at Essendant. Sycamore will destroy Walgreens and it will be torture before death. Watch out for yourself, try to get out, don't wait around for things to get better or any claims of severance payouts or bonuses. If not be ready for that day to happen at any moment. Don't get comfortable. This is just the beginning, they are not out for the best interests of the company or employees but rather their assets and any money they can su-k away. For a little context, at Essendant, they bought in their own management to play the game from the top. You have them now. First they need to get rid of employees so they would try to make people quit, RTO, unachievable goals, confusing business model/plans. Then they would change the severance policy, usually days before the layoffs and reduce it every time until there's nothing left. They will start selling off anything they can, in our case the core of the business, the warehouses, and business units they could get money for they sold. They sold off the core of the business, and all that remains is the empty shell of what once was a fortune 500 company. Always with the narrative it was low performing or best for the business. The top people will leave, they will torture anyone willing to stay on because they know they are desperate until the end. It might not have been great before, but it's surely not going to get any better. Also, it appears we will be abandoning Deerfield at the end of 2025 (in days), leaving the lease for the HQ building, with no plans on what will happen next. Bankruptcy maybe? Our parent company Staples is just holding on as well, and Quill also nearby saw their whole company be destroyed. All the other Sycamore holdings are also just barely existing just to keep those assets on a balance sheet so they can convince investors to move onto the next victim. Walgreens is and will be nothing more than a cash grab and a way to pad their holdings. There is no long term strategy, no business plan, and everything will just be scam. Just look at the partnerships with Amazon for their other businesses. It's all a distraction, and minor income, distracting from what is really happening. Wish you well and in closing, please care for yourself, find something else, f*** the PE.
For this year’s roughly 10,000 laid-off Minnesotans, holidays are bittersweet
More than a million Americans have lost jobs in 2025 as the labor market continues to show signs of weakness, including many staying unemployed for longer.

Oh well, back into the office
Can’t wait to be worked to the bone some more, especially since my team is barely holding together under an incompetent manager and roles that were cut and never backfilled. More overtime, exhaustion, and stress, only to be rewarded by getting laid off yourself. And yet, here I am still hoping to hold on to this job.
Salesforce Reconsiders Its AI-First Strategy After Layoffs and Reliability Challenges
Salesforce, one of the world’s most influential enterprise software companies, is quietly but significantly rethinking its aggressive push toward artificial intelligence. After laying off nearly 4,000 employees and replacing many support roles with AI-powered agents, senior executives at the company have admitted that their confidence in large language models (LLMs) has declined. This shift marks a notable moment in the broader tech industry’s relationship with generative AI, exposing the gap between promise and practical performance.

Ransacked is a thief and a conman
How does one inherit a multi-billion dollar chemical company and reduce it to a lemonade stand that recycles..then lays off a thousand (yes a thousand) skilled legacy employees while hanging on to yes-men director level leadership who are just as complicit.
Check the stock price - ripe for a fire sale.
Layoffs today
I already heard first hand today or some mid level management layoffs with a package
Layoffs
many jobs lost in September and more to come in 1Q.
New director guy just chopped lots of externals in ET
