It’s far from over

For those of you who did not get laid off on Thursday, do not feel like you are safe. There is more yet to come. February/March I heard is the next wave. This layoff affected thousands at ALL levels, all the way down to the frontline. Verizon has over 6000 stores and what’s left of our corporate locations? 1200 or so after Thursday? If you’re thinking “Phew, at least I’m safe,” THINK AGAIN. Don’t get comfortable or naive to the fact that you very well could be next, no matter your performance.

Avancez

Avancez is laying off staff as GM scales back production at its Factory Zero EV plant.

The job cuts show how shifts in EV production affect suppliers.

This aint stopping and will continue across the industry.

Rising layoffs in MD and US linked to rise of AI

  • Maryland layoffs rise nearly 30%, reflecting nationwide job cut trends.
  • In a report, AI was the second most cited reason for job cuts in October.
  • Federal DOGE cuts accounted for over 300,000 job losses earlier this year.
  • Experts say AI will replace some roles but create new types of jobs.

Worried about losing my job.

I got moved to multi contact and everyone I know has been hit badly with FCR. I know at least 10 plus people that are in the same situation as me. I am doing everything within my power to meet the minimum but its impossible with all the WIMS/RAP holds and a million other Wayfair issues. I know they will put me on a PIP come January and I am so worried about losing my job, I am the breadwinner in my household. It has me so stressed right now, I cant sleep.

What do I do?

So my dept was job completed/lay off while I was on vacation. I RTO to my office which I’m by myself and remote from everyone else. My boss and 2 other remote coworkers who I only conversed with over email were let go. I never got notified and nothing in company mail. I came back from work and worked like normal and learned over the next several days what happened. I didn’t reach out. All my logins work, I get automatic generated tickets to review then send off. Everything is still working and I can continue and have been continued to do my duties. I’ve done this already for the past several weeks and even got paid.

Should I reach out my 3rd line or just lay low and keep working? In webphone I am also NOW listed under my 3rd line when before I was under my manager and my coworkers.

PetroTech Salvage

Anyone notice (and maybe you’re one) PetroTechs are being parked in functions across the organization not related to their discipline (IT, Finance, Supply Chain). Park until needed? Waiting for an upturn in activity? I can’t imagine they are very happy with these assignments other than getting paid.

Anyone let go from Resilience?

It can’t just be me but does anyone see the logic in the random decisions? You know, the decisions to keep really unethical employees/leaders around because of favoritism or pure discrimination but let valuable employees go because they have opinions.

JM’s favorite is trying like heck to show value by trying to take other people’s work because she doesn’t have enough work to actually keep her team busy Remain hopeful that from these layoffs people will finally speak up and expose the truth behind the lies.

Please be helpful

It’s a rough time right now. A lot of us are worried about our jobs, not because we’ve never lost or changed jobs before, but because the market is terrible. Everyone’s on edge. So if you share anything, make sure it’s reliable or at least somewhat grounded. We need to be mindful of what people are going through. This is the time to support each other, not stir up fear or spread bait.

17 years and an OUTSTANDING Employee- Job eliminated

They just laid-off 13,000 employees. So sad. We did NOT think that this was going to happen a year ago. Some things, like lay-offs are out of the employees control. As they say: "Everything happens for a reason". Our family member is in shock. Been there done that, myself. There IS a light at the end of the tunnel.

So what's your response going to be?

Say you get told in a few hours that you're being rif'd. What are you going to say in response to your boss? I know there's no options, just wondering how I'll take it if it happens and what to say in return, other than just sitting there d-mbfounded after giving them 18 years of my life.

I take comfort in...

I think my chances are about 50/50 of being impacted today.

I started at the very bottom and worked my way up over 28 years. In that time, I’ve held—and mastered—multiple roles. These roles allowed me to learn how everything works. I’m one of the few people who truly understands how everything works end-to-end.

I’ve built many systems and processes here that only I fully understand.

So if today is the day I’m “promoted to customer,” I take comfort in knowing Verizon is fu---d. I won’t be here to take anyone's calls, explain how something works, or why it was designed a certain way. I won’t be handing out contacts or filling in gaps or giving out recommendations on solutions to complex issues.

And I also take comfort knowing I’m not alone in feeling this way. A lot of people know where the bodies are buried—and they won’t be helping either.

Good luck.

Any one else feel like this company is failing?

I try to keep up with the stocks and stuff and it seems like we did so bad this year then i saw the other day that we lost another contract in Fla and then the tax credits for our market place plans are going away. And then the medicaid cuts are gonna lose us more members. does it feel like maybe this company won't be around very long?

Uh Oh… The Numbers Are In, and They’re Screaming LAYOFFS!

Those earnings calls just dropped and… WHEW. If you thought things looked “meh” before, baby, we’re about to enter the Ugly Season™. ANOTHER round of LAYOFF is creeping up like a bad jump scare, so please — do NOT get too cozy in that ergonomic chair.

The corporate Titanic isn’t just sinking… It’s speed-running straight into the iceberg, Kmart style!

So instead of whining, here’s your survival kit — Update that dusty resume. Polish your LinkedIn glow-up. Tap your network like your life depends on it — because it might

Move FAST, fam.

Winter is coming… and so is HR.

Sales roles uk

Currently working in technical team think about a change to the sales team next year. Can I make more money ? What's its like working in sales in the UK, they seem to do well ? What are the managers like ? Can they really earn these big ote that's banded about?
Also how long do you get to get deals on ?

Dan and his brand (a special poem)

Dan sits high in the tower of glass,
Counting figures, trimming mass.
A whisper travels down the line
“Another round… this time it’s mine.”

He speaks of progress, polished and clean,
Of AI’s future and a workforce unseen.
Two years back he warned the crowd,
“It will leave many jobless,” he said out loud.
Now here he stands, the prophecy man,
Not stopping the storm..he is the plan.

People who built the network’s frame,
Names and faces..now numbers, just the same.
Their keycards flicker, the screens go black,
But profits rise, and no one looks back

Dan calls it efficiency, a modern shift,
But to those he cuts, it’s a stolen gift..
Security, dignity, years of sweat,
All erased in a corporate reset.

And when the machines finally hum in place
Where voices once filled a bustling space,
Maybe Dan will stand alone and see
That progress without people is poverty.

For a workforce falls not loud, but quietly
In email threads, and HR calls,
While a man in a tower signs and enthralls.

History won’t ask about stock or demand,
But who remembered the hands that built the brand.
And someday, far beyond Verizon’s span,
They’ll tell the story of a man named Dan
Who knew AI would hollow the land…
And led the march of the unemployed band
