Has anyone ( specifically grades 22-24) found a better job outside of the company? Or one that at least pays the same amount you were getting paid here and given as much PTO?

I’ve been in banking for over a decade and I’ve never seen this many coworkers openly talking about job hunting. Even people I barely know are updating resumes and quietly networking. I swear, the only reason there's not a major exodus is the state of the job market.

After about ten months, I finally landed an offer. I sent roughly 130 applications, had about 20 recruiter chats, and survived three long final rounds before I got the coveted yes. I can’t even begin to explain how much of a burden off my chest that is. It wasn’t fast, but it happened.

But I’d still keep my resume updated and keep an eye on other opportunities. The massive layoffs just proved that we’re the first ones on the line when they need to buy some more time.

I keep seeing people panic after being let go in their late 50s, but I’ve watched a few land solid roles through headhunters who actually care. It’s not easy, but there are still companies willing to take experience over flash. I manage a mixed-age team, and the older folks are often the ones I rely on most. Keep your skills sharp, stay flexible, and don’t let anyone convince you you’re done.

I hope you all land good jobs soon, where you’ll be truly appreciated. Times are tough, so I’m wishing you all the luck. Just don’t forget that it’s almost never about your performance or potential, but the usual corporate politics and greed.

It looks pretty grim over there, judging by the numbers being reported. I sincerely hope they’ve been managing to hang on. Honestly, I wish the same for all of us. It’s brutal out there, and I shudder at the thought of having to job hunt again.

I think I’m about to be fired, so I’d like to avoid having that hang over my head by leaving on my own. I hate this because I love my job, but there’s not much I can do about it, I pi---d off the wrong person. Anyhow, everywhere I look, benefits aren’t even close to being as good as here. Is there anybody who’s worked somewhere else and knows if it’s a similar setup?

Waiting for Avaya to get acquired by some big tech giant so I can proudly write in my resume, “Avaya now acquired by XYZ.” Because right now, no recruiter seems to recognize the brand, and my phone’s been awfully quiet.🥹😅

Sure doesn’t seem like it.

I’ve been trying for months, just to be on the safe side since I expected layoffs to happen. I thought job hunting would at least give me some peace of mind, but it’s done the opposite - I’ve started to panic. It’s so bad out there that I’m now even more terrified of losing this job. I feel cornered and paralyzed. I just hope the current job market slump is temporary, even though all signs point to it getting worse.

I am hoping this posts help people. I was let go in July and was provided severance for 3 months. My last day is October 21. I had been with the company for 7 years. As soon as I was informed I started looking. I had couple of interviews and they had started to do background check. BNY uses a third party (The work number) from equifax to do employment verification. I am in the last stages with one of the companies and I proactively did my verification. Here is how they are going to mess me up. In the report it shows

Employment Status: Active
Original Hire Date: my date when I was hired
Date of Termination: 10/21/2025

I am not telling employer that I am laid off as I am still receiving paycheck. I am afraid that when they do the background check they will see that the date of termination is already populated and I fear they might rescind the offer.

This company can't do one thing right other than sc--wing employees. Did anyone go through this scenario? I am afraid that I might loose this opportunity.

Have you all that were recently let go started applying elsewhere already or are you waiting?

Who’s supposed to pay my bills? Has anyone noticed the cost of living skyrocketing? Housing, mortgages, it’s all out of reach. Everywhere I look, there are layoffs. I’ve been trying for almost a year to land something else, just to get ahead. I got a couple of offers, but none worth even considering. I even looked way outside my skillset and in cheaper locations. Nothing. Feels like most of us are running out of options.

It's crazy how many scammers are on Indeed and Linked-in.

Is there a safer way to apply for jobs? The only way I can think of is to go directly to employer websites or via word of mouth from folks in your network.

What are others finding out there in terms of using job search sites such as Indeed and Linked-In?

I don't get it. Ford decided to layoff 350 people in may. We can estimate this to be a savings of $42,000,000. Ford's net profit for 2024 was $5.9 billion. What was the point of the layoff? It seems like a drop in the bucket.

Now I'm still looking for a job in this terrible market. A single dad trying to take care of his kid, all while my money running is out. -- It's amazing, I once was celebrated by the company at the highest levels for my contributions (seriously). Now i'm tossed out into the street.

Some days I scroll through job postings and it hits me that I’m too old and too tied down to make a move. It’s a strange kind of limbo, wanting out but knowing the odds aren’t in my favor. I should’ve left when I was younger with more options, but hindsight always comes too late.

Where is everyone applying? I know most people are already looking, since no one’s crazy enough to just wait and see if their number comes up, but the listings I see are honestly discouraging. There are so few openings compared to how many of us will soon be out there searching. Are people branching into other industries too? Is there anywhere that’s actually hiring where our skills translate well?

I want to leave the industry but not sure what transferable skills I have. I’ve been unhappy here for a bit. So to those of you who have left and are happy, what work do you do now?

He began looking as soon as he was notified and managed to secure a new role within weeks. He starts this week. We often hear horror stories about the job market, but I thought it might be encouraging to share a positive example as well.

Many people say “just leave” as if it were simple. It is not. The market is crowded, and unless you have a highly sought-after skill set, finding something new can take months. Begin lining up another opportunity while you are still employed, as that is the only real safety net.

Even jobs with significantly lower pay seem out of reach. WTF is going on?

I can't afford to just up and quit in this economy, but I've started mass-applying for positions at various other companies that will truthfully probably pay better than what I make at HCSC anyways.

This RIF has been the catalyst I needed to get the f--k out of here.

We must return to the office October 20 and will have our badge swipes counted to ensure we show up there 4 days per week. We do not have our own cube space but we reserve one every 30 days. Looking for a new job which is just what they had hoped for.

Can anyone on here tell me what a reasonable range for a VP job in Lake Mary would be (formally K grade prior to the restructure). Glassdoor is useless. I know I’ll get more trolls than help on this post but maybe 1 honest prisoner of this place will help out haha. Last time I saw a post like this someone said 100k in Pune and I rolled

Was CPMd in July. I know its only been 2.5 months but I have had no luck so far. 2 interviews reached final stages and everything else has been a rejection outright. I hate being pessimistic but it's getting worse day by day rejection after rejection. Anyone else from July or earlier still looking ? I fear with end of year and combined with AI the opportunity is closing fast

Probably doesn’t help that hiring managers and recruiters use services that look at and summarize FB, Instagram posts, etc., and company-identified boards like this one, to not only get a sense of personal characteristics of applicants, but the culture from where they are/came.

It’s already super competitive marketplace for jobs in this industry. And it’s only going to get worse. No company using one of these services is going to hire anyone with F5 on their resume based on the comments here. Too many competitors will have applied for the same job without this baggage. And AI tools specific to this task will only make this sort of information more accessible.

Remove F5 from your resume if you can. Or, hope that the sh-t-posting stops - probably unlikely as humans are their own worst enemy when cornered, or laid off.

So, a round of applause for all the sh-t-posters. While they practice their freedom of speech, accomplishing nothing to change anything with F5 for the better, they are making it impossible for all of us to find another job if laid off.

They show a minimum of days in office of 4 days a week. Check it out yourself in job search. I just looked at a random job posting that said remote in Minnesota

There are many remote jobs available in the market, but you have to compete with visa workers who likely hold two or three jobs. Working five days a week from the office just isn’t worth it. Good luck!

In preparation for layoffs is anyone searching elsewhere? How are you finding it? If not, why aren't you looking?

Anyone work in S&D who can reveal what the wizard of oz is actually doing behind the curtain? How does it actually work? If I find a job that I am qualified for and the team wants me to join can S&D prevent it from happening?

Got up this morning, went for a walk – logged on to see if there were any replies to my employment applications. None. Been doing this almost everyday mon-fri for coming up to two years since my RIF from F5.

Found two more software engineer/developer openings so crafted an application for the first and sent it. Started crafting the second application and stopped. Why am I doing this? With the state of software development as it is, when all you have to do is pay $1000 to $3000 for a 1 to 3 day course to get guaranteed certification of Expert or Black Belt level, it trivializes what software engineering is. I choose not to be a part of the game anymore. I’m giving up seeking new employment and will let it find me if the software gods so choose.

There was a time early on where software development required being a craftsman and artisan. I was working at a company that was in the first 100 that applied and received its domain registration in the 1980s. Those were good and exciting times. You were a part of something greater. Bugs/Errors/Failures as a result of your work were not an option. If something did come up, that became the first priority to solve (that day). The customer needed to trust you. That doesn’t exist anymore. F5 (as well as other corporations) willingly and routinely release software that has multiple serious issues. Big IP Next is a prime example. Development methods of Agile, Scrum, and SAFe were adopted that have no engineering validity to being used, but they are used anyway.

There are likely hundreds of reasons why I should continue seeking employment – all likely are valid. I choose to be the craftsman/artisan and that type of position will have to find me. If it doesn’t so be it.
