Career advice from someone who experienced the last 40 years from NJB to Vz Hans.
RIF or not.. always be looking. The more you are in control the less stress you would have.
I woukd tell my direct reports always be looking… if you don’t immediately find something better then recognize your current Vz job is the bezt option so adapt to that reality.
Reading this site often shows me to must trust was given to Hans/HR leaders who promoted Woke versus Customer/Shareholder value.
As a resukt Hans leaves with $2 severance and temp CEO will get $50M bonus.
Those of us who got sold off and then sacked via the HCL offload were actually told in a bullet that we were SUPPOSED to be taking the time to update resume, post on LinkedIn etc. by our former VZ directors/VPs. Good Luck, IT/Tech is pretty ugly right now in the job market, if you are a middle manager you might as well plan on working a service job for a while once your unemployment runs out, and if somehow you were anywhere in the PMO and are still there, the sum total of PMI/ITIL/Sigma Lean 6/CCNP/CCNA/CCIE are a dime a dozen, and everyone who has any/all of those, even if they are just PMs and not really IT, everyone who has an application posted is fluent in several programming languages. Just keeping your certs up to date while at VZ is/was nowhere near enough while the industry lapped us.
For others below: Imagine waking up in your parents basement just to be troll when people are clearly hurting.
Yes, they can prioritize looking for a new job. However, first time I have seen that there are hardly any internal positions. I worked w a person that was impacted and need access to one of your files. Her response was “I need to find a job” then went radio silence.

In the past people just disappeared from everywhere until their last day
@OP I would hope so. During past RIFs several folks impacted told me their manager basically told them to focus on themselves and applying for other jobs during their remaining time.
You will be escorted out by security.
