What A Cluster...

I think it's very possible that more people applied than what they anticipated.

imagine if the target was 8,000 eliminations and they received 12,000 applications... but of those 12,000 applications, only 3,000 were on the elimination list. they still need to cut the 5,000... so what do they do? maybe accept 1,000 of the VSPs and still have to cut 4,000...

now for those 8,000 VSP applications they have to reject? that's a LOT of pi---d off people who will probably be looking to leave. now they have to figure out how to retain those employees.

and for those 4,000 being cut... they will be upset too.

that is probably the clusterf*ck they have gotten themselves into.

July is about to be a headache for everyone.

Severance?

Anyone have an idea of what the severance is looking like post merger. Senior leader hinted to our group 2 months ago it would be comparable to VSP and details would come out shortly. We have heard nothing since. Alex Taylor stated we would be proud of how they handled this merger and all they have done is kept us in the dark and guessing.

Let's Pull Up The Receipts...

it feels like we're being gaslit... as if we didn't hear what leadership said and read the program information and FAQs. I pulled the receipts.

quotes from Sarah's 6/15 Calling:

"we are sitting here today as a result of policy changes and market changes, program changes and strategic business decisions that we have made."

"when our membership shifts, we need to shift our organization accordingly. In plain terms, what that means is there will be CenTeamers who are impacted by some of the restructuring that we need to undertake in the near term."

"[The Voluntary Separation Program] is something that our people team has worked incredibly hard on... we felt it was really important in this moment as we were embarking on this restructuring, to give CenTeamers who, for whatever reason, may be ready to move on to their next chapter, or to continue to pursue our mission in a different way somewhere else, the ability to raise their hand and do that with some enhanced benefits."

"there will be a wave of restructuring, our goal is to notify any of the impacted CenTeamers by early August."

"my commitment to you as we go through these changes, both in the near term and whatever change comes as a part of Mission Simplify, is to be as transparent as possible."

  • both in the near term AND whatever change comes as a part of Mission Simplify... that's not anxiety inducing at all*

Tanya's 6/15 Email:

"Today, we are announcing a Voluntary Separation Program (VSP) to provide a pathway for those employees who are ready to start their next chapter, as well as the hard news that following the VSP, some members of the CenTeam will be impacted by a wave of restructuring."

"the VSP is designed to provide eligible team members with choice."

Employee FAQs:

A1 What is the Voluntary Separation Program?
The Voluntary Separation Program is a program that provides eligible employees with the opportunity to apply to voluntarily leave Centene with some enhanced benefits.

A2 Why is Centene offering the VSP? And why now?
We have a responsibility to our customers and members to constantly evaluate whether we can deliver better outcomes more efficiently. At the same time, when our membership base shifts - whether because of policy changes or strategic business decisions - we must adjust our organization to match that membership. Combined, these factors mean we are entering a period of both reimagining and restructuring. So we are offering the VSP as part of our efforts to right-size our workforce.

  • we are offering the VSP as part of our efforts to right-size our workforce*

A3 Will there also be job eliminations as part of an involuntary program?
Centene is offering the VSP now to proactively manage changes in the business while being transparent, remaining true to our culture and providing team members a voluntary option first, before considering other actions. Following the VSP, we do expect that we will need to make further restructuring decisions, and we will expect to notify anyone whose role is impacted by early August.

  • we do expect that we will need to make further restructuring decisions*

Tanya's 7/1 Email:

"The Voluntary Separation Program is an opportunity for those employees who were already considering an exit from Centene for personal or professional reasons to do so with some enhanced benefits."

"We strongly suggest that you apply for the VSP only if you want to leave Centene."

in essence, they said what they said... we heard what they said, we listened to what they said... we are not d-mb. we know that MCR/MCD/MKT health insurance is going through a major change. we know the economy is not looking all that great...

so we were supposed to risk being cut with less money? we have seen people post on here that they received significantly less severance. we have families to feed, we need to keep a roof over our heads!! I have been with the organization for years, believe in our mission and planned to stay for many more years, but this is ridiculous...

How long before the next round?

Sad thing is, even knowing this round is over I can't truly relax or be happy I survived, since we all know there'll be more before the end of the year. Working with the constant threat of layoffs is not good for our health, mental or physical. Layoffs always happened, but they were occasional, not like now.

UK Works Council - Waste of space

The UK Works Council is only there to give a veneer of respectability to whatever DXC HR choose to do. There is no accountability. They never push back strongly just approve as they are asked to do like good pets. Try talking to them and they just say there is nothing they can do.

What they should do in all conscience is resign from the works council so HR can't say "this was approved by the works council".

Associated Press Plans India Hub, More Layoffs Expected

Associated Press plans to establish a new production hub in India. Executive Editor Julie Pace confirmed this move will likely lead to additional layoffs. The hub aims to scale both video and photo capabilities globally. This initiative is set to impact current U.S.-based production staff. AP previously laid off 20 U.S. journalists and offered buyouts earlier this year.

BHDD Reduces Administrative Staff by 47

The South Carolina Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (BHDD) eliminated administrative positions. This action resulted in 47 filled jobs being cut on June 30. The agency stated the goal is to maximize efficiency and strengthen BHDD. Direct care workers were not affected by these changes. Impacted employees reported receiving no prior warning about the layoffs.

Hotel Boulderado Workers Unionize Over Layoffs, New Ownership

Hotel Boulderado workers are organizing to form a union. This effort follows layoffs, reduced hours, and increased workloads. These changes occurred after AJ Capital Partners bought the hotel in March 2025. Approximately two dozen employees have lost their jobs since the acquisition. Workers cite concerns about job security and declining service quality.

Submitting Today

I am submitting my VSP today. Nobody is doing anything...leadership out constantly... its joe over. I might be on a generational run right now though... I was lucky and have a final interview for role outside of healthcare... I wont get into the specifics, but I do feel very confident based on all available information, and conversations with the hiring manager. No, its not iron clad, but its enough for me to take the leap and leave. Since I haven't had a bonus the entire time I have worked here.... the VSP would be nice. However, they really don't want anyone to actually be able to take it though. It takes a very particular situation to benefit from the VSP based on all of the restrictions. There is nothing HUMAN about executive's behavior. The lies. The condescending rhetoric. The "transformations." Its bogus and I am over it. I wish everyone the best of luck, truly.

AI replaceing people at IBM -- or not! Nickel decision not worth 2 cents.

From CNBC.com:
Similarly, IBM replaced its HR functions with AI that handled around 94% of routine requests but was unable to meet the other 6%, which included ethical dilemmas. IBM then announced plans to triple its U.S. entry-level hiring across all business units in 2026.

“If we don’t continue to invest in entry-level hires, what happens in 3–5 years?,” IBM chief human resources officer Nickle LaMoreaux said at a Charter AI Summit in New York. “There’s no pipeline; the well simply dries up,” LaMoreaux added.

He also indicated no signs of an impending recession. His comments reflect a positive outlook on the economic situation.

Organizational crisis

The continued restructuring appears likely to result in significant layoffs. My concern is that experienced leaders with valuable institutional knowledge are being replaced, increasing the risk of poor decision-making and execution. I hope leadership carefully considers the long-term impact on employees, customers, and the business.

Franklin Templeton terminates the remainder of the contract

When FT took back their Customer Service, they left Main Office Services and Customer Operations at FIS. Today, at a BPS Fireside Chat, SVP Ian McCoy and Client Services Manager Sandy Edmunds announced that FT is also taking back MOS and OPs, thereby terminating the ten year contract. Was only able to read the questions in the chat, have not see the recording yet, if there is one. The chat questions involved employees in those functions asking about their futures. The answers were not comforting. Sandy implied that FIS did not understand why the contract was being terminated. It was because they did a sh---y job and impacted FT's relationships with their own clients. She went on to address timing questions by stating that she did not know who the new vendor would be "unless they went behind their backs." That is a stunningly deceptive statement. FIS failed to deliver on every level to meet SLAs or they did a sh---y job whichever anyone prefers. It was shocking to read that. Will see what else can be gleaned unless someone else reading here knows more. Cue up the Mission Impossible theme...

Srini took us from $270 to sub-$100

When I tried warning everyone to sell at $270, y’all just told me you were buying more.
I really hope it goes back up for you because I still have $9k in it. But I’m ready to call it a loss.
Stock’s already below $100, we’re getting hit with another round of employee cuts this year (remember the “no more big layoffs” promise?), and Srini keeps bleeding the company dry. Insider selling has been nonstop and the shorts are printing.
Some of us saw this coming months ago. The people who got let go tried to tell you. Now we’re all just watching it burn.
How low we going? $99? $80? Who else is still holding and ready to walk away?

Has anyone’s leadership been genuinely transparent?

I’m curious what conversations are happening across the company. Have your leaders:

  • Told you they expect your department to be relatively stable?
  • Suggested your area could be significantly impacted?
  • Discussed how workload, business need, or performance may factor into future decisions?
  • Or are you getting little to no information?

It seems like communication varies dramatically depending on the department, and I’m interested in hearing others’ experiences.

Bring back the good managers

With all the restructurings, layoffs, people leaving on their own, we've lost all the knowledgeable managers who cared about both their people and the company (and yes, it's possible). The ones we have left should be shown the door immediately and 3M should try really hard to bring some of those we lost back if this place is to improve in any way.
