I am very stressful and kind of depressed since the 8 hours rule is enforced

I usually go home around 2pm to avoid traffic and continue working between 2:30 to 6:30. Now I have to stay until 5pm and feel stressed out due to the heavy traffic. Since I stayed until 5pm, no more work at home.

My working hour is less than before after the 8 hours rule is enforced.

Can't stop worrying about layoffs

It's so tiring to be focused on the possibility of losing your job 24/7. I'm always saving money to the point I can't enjoy my hobbies anymore. I don't know the last time I bought a book or a game because I can't justify the expense even if I can afford it because I could potentially be laid off any day now. This is a very sad way to live and nobody responsible for it seems to care.

Does anyone know anything for sure?

We can assume some of the layoff rumors are true. But it would be a huge relief just to know the timeline. Stressing constantly, expecting every week to be the week, is too much. If the job market were better right now, fewer of us would be worried out of our minds. But as things stand, losing this job could quickly become a personal catastrophe.

The only way through this is to be rational about it

I’ve learned the hard way over my career that stressing over a job takes a devastating toll on your health and well-being. We also know performance has little to no impact on who gets laid off. Believing you can curry favor by working yourself raw, only to feel guilty later for not doing enough, helps no one. Do the bare minimum professionally, but don’t go the extra mile. Always be on the lookout for other opportunities. Don’t take anything personally, and stop stressing about office politics or the next potential layoff. Be good to yourself.

It is amazing

Nothing has changed. Every year, at the same time, the horrid feeling of what’s to come. Here’s my 2 cents:
It’s only getting worse in tech.
Corporate doesn’t care about you.
HR doesn’t care about you.
Yes, HR is ‘secretly’ invited to the meetings - they want to make sure you show up and you may not if you know it’s a goodbye call.
Again,
Corporate doesn’t care about you.
HR doesn’t care about you.
Get out if you can and stop the stress.
I left before they had their way with me, and it was the best thing I ever did. I thought about waiting for severance, but then they would’ve really won wouldn’t they have?
Find a better way. It’s not worth it.
You are better than them. They might not care about you, but you have others who do.

I’m just tired of all this

Of this job, where I have to make decisions I don't agree with every day, each one taking a small piece of my soul. Of my manager, who seems to care more about pitting us against each other than the substance of the work, thinking it’ll somehow earn them a prize. Of some teammates, who always take the bait. And of the constant fear of losing this job - a job that makes me feel like a worse person than I am.

Uncertainty is unbearable

Between problematic bosses and the constant fear of job cuts, coming to work has become a source of genuine dread for me. I've noticed that rumors change daily, and it doesn't help there's no clear communication to settle anyone's nerves. My team is paralyzed, we're all afraid to make a wrong move. The stress is now affecting my sleep and my ability to concentrate on anything else. I'm rapidly approaching my limit for coping with this sustained uncertainty.

As a frontier employee coming in...

Holy he'll how has this place kept together? No one knows anything, no direction, no purpose, all leaders are clueless and at the same time thinking they will do the same as last year. Silos out the a**. It has only been a week and I am looking for the exit. This is going to be a 5 year minimum turnaround and it will be a bloodbath and stress factory for anyone who stays. God bless you verizon folks, it can be so much better elsewhere.

I hate it at Dell and I wish they'd put me out of my misery!

Currently in the process of getting managed out. I was told that there are 150 people that have all been put on performance plans. Meet a certain % of plan by end of Q or be put on an official. I would take any package if offered. Every day is like an episode of a reality show. Some made up loss that needs to be made up for. High stress, no money.

This is not sustainable

There’s no way to maintain mental health when layoffs happen back to back with no breathing room. We can’t relax or focus on our work because we know it’s never over, and more cuts are always coming in a few weeks. This is mental torture, plain and simple.

Stressed at work ? Buy a Samsung/Apple watch , log your stress levels, show that to a judge

Got a smart watch and I am logging my manager induced stress
That will sit nice in front of the judge at the end, next to my records showing pressure and various tactics meant to side track me.
I am just waiting for them to make the move

The obvious

Zuckerberg paid 1 hire $1.5 BILLION.

Then laid off 600 long-term employees.

The hire? Andrew Tulloch from Thinking Machines Lab, an AI research monster.

This just reinforces the obvious:
Companies do what’s best for them.

Here's what I noticed when working at Nokia Networks:

You’re a cell in a spreadsheet with a dollar value attached.

They highlight your row, hit delete, and you’re gone.
A state of constant stress and instabilility.

The worst part?
The leadership team enjoyed it:

During headcount meetings I heard a VP utter:
"cool they'll work harder with the news"

So do what’s best for you.
Build something you own.

mental health - need help

I dont know what is wrong with me. I feel like I will go crazy because of anxiety. I dont have family and I can only rely on myself. I am so worried I wont be able to find another job. And staying home all day is driving me crazy. I dont know what to do. I apply everyday but no interview so far.

Customers will suffer when they call and Reps will become more stressed out.

So they basically got rid of a support layer because tmobile is fu--ing stupid. We didnt have enough support to begin with and the support we did have was also fu--ing stupid cause they dont read half the sh-t you put in the chat. Now we have the same exact protocol for help with less of it. Customers are about to suffer. I will say Team Managers didnt do much sh-t and didnt pull much weight. Now they are the actual coaches. They got rid of the coach position. So now we have one manager everyone reports to and an assistant manager to each team that is there to help and support. We use to have two support individuals for night shift for example. Now it will be one. Help will take longer to get and our call rate time will sky rocket and the whole time we will get yelled at to keep it down. Typical Toxic tmobile fu-kery. Managers already refuse to follow policy if it gets them put on a list. No one wants to be on a list they have to answer to, so customers rarely get helped anymore. Tmobile only cares about metrics. The next time you see the white T with a pink background on the coaches headset at the super bowl game, remember they laid off thousands of employees to pay for that and made it take longer for you to get help when you call with extra stress on the experts you speak with.

I feel like I'm waiting for a slab of concrete to fall on my head

I'm in one of those bad stretches in life when problems just pile up - family issues, aging parents, health stuff. Everything's breaking down all at once, and the bills keep piling up. I'd probably handle the job uncertainty better if everything else wasn't falling apart. As it is, I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop and make it complete.

How long will Medicaid dsnp member

how long will Medicaid D snip member services still be on shore? Does anybody know? Is it safer for me to jump over to the provider service aside the constant bloom of when the firing is gonna come it’s just stressing me out to the end. Is there a position that’s not for me transferred on unsure to another country

Having a hard time dealing with all the stress

I've whipped myself into a frenzy anticipating layoffs next week. You'd think that by now we'd all be numb to this and learn to deal with it better. But every time the threat looms, which has become an increasingly frequent occurrence, I seem to have a harder time with it. This past week, I barely managed to focus on anything, or switch off for a moment once I'm back home. How do you cope?

Good luck next week

I expect it to be worse than what we've already been through. Being under this much stress for so long doesn't help with what's coming. I truly hope that whatever happens, things work out in the end for each and every one of us. And don't forget that being laid off or kept on has nothing to do with your worth, potential, or hard work.
