Just two years to go, yet every new round sends my stress through the roof. I made it through this one, but now I’m already wondering about the next. Living like this year after year is no way to treat employees.

no worry. you get used to it. I am from MCI and there was lay off every other month/quarter/year for more than a few years...Once you get used to it, there is no stress. it becomes an event..
As a gormer employee that was riffed based on age/salary/years of service... my coaching is keep a separate file of notes and document comversations, observations, results. While I received a package that I gladly accepted I also had rhe ability to confront if I so chosen. My point is be prepared and don't just sit and wait. Be proactive.. it will help you mentally.
Best of luck.
@a9 that is the most important reason we stay put at our age. If there was a different healthcare system, many of us would be gone exploring other opportunities even with less pay but more enjoyable.
Yes many of us over 50 being sent to an early forced retirement due to the market. Wish there were more health benefits at least.
@a1 actually the older you are the more difficult to find a new job with same pay and benefits. So yeah...OP shares same concern as many of us big timers
OP. You are lucky that you are so close to retirement. That puts you in a much better position than most of us. The job market is brutal right now.
