Go ahead and sign

Go ahead and sign so they know who the disgruntled people are and can put the sc--ws on you harder. The goal has not changed and the goal is still to get rid of as many people as possible without having to pay ANY severance. Even if you sign you can be terminated before a layoff is approved. If you have been keeping up on the layoffs/mass firing of federal government workers then you are up to date on what's about to go down.

Stop all the expensive advertising

If you want to get rid of people hiking calling it voluntary severance - look at cutting unnecessary expenses. Starting with the high profile celebrity advertising and then the high end large six figure executive salaries. Both those classes of folks have enough money and that needs to be dropped off the books - immediately

Interesting parties in Hungary theh have

https://index.hu/gazdasag/2025/08/27/sap-hungary-kirugas-vezetes-felsovezetok-elbocsatas-vallalatiranyitas/

They fired the entire leadership after it was found out they organised s-x massage rooms and dr-gs on a conference.

Wonder if there were such rooms when Christian went there this year and if their goodbyes were so heartfelt and the severence so high as for Jürgen. Or do you have to se-----y harrass a colleague to be praised?

Left standing

I imagine there are many of us (mid career 10+ years) that assumed we would retire from this company. However this was the year that got some of us, and now we are left standing. However are you holding up? What are you doing now/plan to do next? Genuinely interested in hearing what folks have to say.

Non-working notice period

I recently got laid off, and I'm in my non-working notice period. The separation paperwork says that taking another job during the notice period could affect eligibility for severance pay. Does anyone know how that works? I know I have to be available if they need something from me during the notice period, but that seems unlikely. And how would they even know I had started a new job?

Severance Concerns

This is in the main thread:

  • "I recently found out they'll be doing more layoffs at KTD and probably GO soon. I know for sure CIS and Product will get hit hard. I hope you get your severance!" (Anonymous, Post ID: @OP+1k3eddae2)
  • "my team received notice today that we needed to add some new contacts to our email chains, sure enough they are located in India." (Anonymous, Post ID: @qd+1k3eddae2)
  • "20+ year employee, always glowing reviews, personally found and cleared over $3M in bad debt over the past few years. They eliminated the higher paid employees so the lower paid ones can pick up the slack." (Anonymous, Post ID: @p9+1k3eddae2)
  • "vague information about severance (month pay/years of employment, possible bonus eligibility based on standing), but would be discussee 1-on-1 during exit interview, TBD" (Anonymous, Post ID: @p4+1k3eddae2)
  • "severance will be discussed later and think it is based on performance through your last day." (Anonymous, Post ID: @mr+1k3eddae2)
  • "At least this time it sounds like folks are getting severance unlike transformation." (Anonymous, Post ID: @nn+1k3eddae2)
  • "They have avoided severance payouts the last 2-3 re-orgs." (Anonymous, Post ID: @pp+1k3eddae2)

Its that time a year again at HMH

October is right around the corner and its layoff season again at HMH. Massive customer problems with this years back to school. Lots of customers asking for their money back. New CTO, with an attention span problem and flare for unprofessional behavior, dead set on getting rid of most of the technology staff. 80 hour work weeks. continuous stream of abuse to drive people to quitting so they don't have to pay severance pay..... and the result is?, you guessed it, October is fast approaching, massive layoffs both in technology and across the company. One cannot imagine why year after year of layoffs could have possibly resulted in such bad outcomes.

Got H 1. B peer who is not laidoff ? Know your rights

This mainly applies to tech and lower management roles. If you're a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and an H. -1. B colleague in the same role wasn't laid off, you may be eligible for additional severance or have grounds for legal action due to policy violations.
All you need is your manager's / second line's hierarchical Organization chart screenshot. You can also have some proofs of screenshots from git repositories to prove you have checked in code as same level as the H. -1. b candidate or performed similar activity as H. -1. b candidate if management. Ensure you are not laidoff due to your performance ratings.

Outsourced: Job not comparable

Has anyone been successful in obtaining a severance package through the appeal process of the Severance Plan Administrator?

I have been mapped to a third party and received an offer letter. The description is vague however the responsibilities are objectively much greater than my position at Wells.

The handbook states if job is not comparable then severance package is warranted.

Happy to be laid off if i get 5 month severance

This place is a disaster and is not going anywhere but straight down to the bottom of the ocean. Just a bunch of incompetent bench warmers just pretending to work for an underpaid salary. Would rather use that time for something productive instead of pretending to work and dealing with the BS at this company

Should have taken the package

Anyone else filling like they should have taken the package. On the verge of just putting my two weeks in. Management sc--wed up big time on this reorg and no transition made the stand up of the new org a damn mess. End of the day leadership will not take accountability but will continue to get fat bonuses. Almost so horrible all you can do is laugh at this point.

Got the axe this Tuesday

Laid off based out of Charlotte. Been here for 14 years. I am non working till October 2025. Haven’t signed the severance yet as my mental health tanked after the news. How much my severance will be? Any other advice on how to deal with severance and other pointers regarding layoffs will be helpful.

Laid off, having no regrets

I was laid off, and I don’t have regrets. I’d been bracing for this, the anxiety had been building for a while, so in some ways, it feels like a relief. I’m also grateful it gave me the push I needed to start looking elsewhere. I stayed at Oracle too long, became complacent, and lost sight of other possibilities. Staying in one place for too long isn’t great for self-confidence or professional growth, especially with how companies have been operating over the past decade. The job market is tough, but here’s hoping I prove I’m tougher.

Good luck to the rest of you, and don’t let yourself fall under the psychological pressure the corporate environment, and especially layoffs, can create. There are always other options, and other opportunities to prove to yourself that you’re good at what you do.
