I am beyond retirement age and I have made it known that I volunteer for a RIP package. Do you think anyone will pay attention? Save a young guy, RIF me!

@OP I hear if a Dir offers someone up to the chopping block he or she is saying that employee or position isn’t needed and they won’t be allowed to backfill.

Oh he-l yes they will. Someone who volunteers is looking to leave anyway. Your AD definitely doesn't want to lose another HC they wont be able to replace post-rif.
I have people on my various teams volunteer for the RIF as word gets around. I had them email me and forwarded along to my VP to be added. I did explain the tax implications of getting basically double paid this year for them.
This is very honorable and from a young guy, thank you. It’s a really difficult job market out there right now and my generation is having a really hard time getting established in this economy.
@OP me too! - I have not said anything but if I survive Nov. 20th will definitely volunteer for next RIF (Spring ‘26?)
I am in the same boat. Informed my D in Jan 25.
