Large number of people are not criticizing layoffs. There is very little lament, or for that matter - very little anger...

What I see here is MANY Citi employees just asking whether we can stop anticipating layoffs, whether a meeting means something, and whether this or that area is next.

That's a sad place to be at. I feel defeated.

Getting rid of longtime employees might save money immediately, but there's a lot that doesn't show up on a balance sheet. Years of knowing how things actually work can't always be handed over to someone new. Once too many of such people are shown the door, Oracle may discover just how much they were carrying. Saving money today doesn't necessarily mean saving money later.

I have bad news for you. Hundreds of job postings we have are typically either intended to transition a contractor/H1B to an FTE role... Also they use them to pick someone who has already been selected. So, in most cases (not all cases), the posting are just a formality. I know you know this, it's here for newbies.

The leadership that allows for something like this to happen is a disgrace.

The job market has never been worse. Wherever I apply, I don't hear a word back. Even the automated rejection emails seem to be a thing of the past. What the he-l is going on? I luckily still have a job, but what are folks who were just laid off supposed to do?

We lost half the team months ago and somehow the amount of work didn't change. The people left behind are just expected to cover everything now.

This board always follow the same pattern: anxiety before the event, urgency during notifications, this is followed by anger, disappointment, uncertainty. Sometimes there is some relief afterwards.

Count our blessings, enjoy your work if you can, if you cannot try to find something else. I've had it and I am looking around - this round sealed it for me.

I've made it through at least six layoffs now, and all of them left me scratching my head. All the rounds didn't seem to follow any obvious pattern. There were people with years of experience who disappeared, while others I expected to be vulnerable stayed. But then again, some of the newbies were also gone. Different pays, different statuses, different ratings... No common ground whatsoever.

You get through one round of cuts and immediately start wondering when the next one will happen. There's never enough time between layoffs to actually feel secure. This is our reality.

If you got one and refused it, I don't understand you. Centene is a sinking ship. Why you'd choose to stay on with such a good alternative is beyond me.

When will they cut people whose main responsibility is to collect information and repeat it to someone else, from one meeting to another? All of them are still here.

Go look at their pages on this forum and you'll see what I mean. So what's left for us as a potential source of jobs? Where are people applying?

Verizon surpluses union positions, out of 6k offered package how many will be backfilled my guess is 10 percent 600. Thoughts ? Is the 6k number accurate. We've seen facebook posts that NY had 1500, PA 1200, NJ 800 where is the other cuts? Is it more like 3k jobs?

T-Mobile has established its GCC in India, and AT&T has also expanded its offices across multiple locations. Meanwhile, Dan (the customers man )appears to have taken a very different approach, with several leadership positions being eliminated and ongoing workforce reductions across various organizations in India. It increasingly feels like Dan may be considering a significant reduction of employees and its office presence in India. Hope the hiring in US will be in peaks 🤞

If you can get out of Fiserv/Clover, you should do it as quickly as possible. This company has been driven into the ground and is a shadow of what it used to be. The leadership is completely incompetent and they have driven off whatever talent they had. Now they are just hiring whoever is cheapest. It's doomed.

After weeks of threads and speculation, looks like tomorrow is finally the day. Hearing layoffs are planned for 9/17.
