Laying off Canadians while bringing foreigners to replace

Makes sense right? Indians, Malaysians, and mo----------g Americans. Expats and temporary. I bet their visa application indicates “specialized” roles no one in the company can perform. No sh•t, the company laid them off to maximize money laundering and siphoning billing to overseas.

Rationally, I know I should want to survive the coming layoffs

It's brutally hard to find another job. I've been trying for a while and can attest to that. With most of us constantly on the brink of financial ruin and costs only rising, the fear is real. But this time, I'm not anxious about losing my job. I'm just exhausted and completely burnt out. It's probably time to move on, and if they cut the cord, it would almost make it easier.

Why isn’t Cigna posting WARN notices?

Companies are requires to give 60 days notice if they’re going to lay off 50+ people. The only way to get around this is to lay off in smaller numbers or spread layoffs across different locations.

Since the Cigna is doing mass layoffs, it seems likely that more than 50 people will be laid off per location.

So why haven’t we seen any WARN notices?

My exit could save a job

Since I'm leaving next month regardless (which nobody needs to know yet, of course), I'd gladly take the layoff package if it meant preventing a cut for a coworker who depends on this income. The management should offer a voluntary option, especially since I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd gladly take it.

Even more layoffs at West Des Moines campus

"How We Work" letters - what's the timeline after a decline to move?

If I decline to move, any ideas on what the timeline looks like to get the official layoff notice? I hear that puts me on "the list" but I'm more curious what that means for timeline / budget purposes. I want to find a new job, but I want to do it in the right order.

Thanks!

Boston Health Care for Homeless

Stan McLaren, CEO of Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, resigned in mid-December. His departure followed internal dissent over staff layoffs and mission concerns. The nonprofit laid off 25 people and closed a 20-bed medical respite facility. These actions were taken as the organization faces significant Medicaid funding cuts. Dr. Denise De Las Nueces, the chief medical officer, is now serving as interim CEO.

I hate it at Dell and I wish they'd put me out of my misery!

Currently in the process of getting managed out. I was told that there are 150 people that have all been put on performance plans. Meet a certain % of plan by end of Q or be put on an official. I would take any package if offered. Every day is like an episode of a reality show. Some made up loss that needs to be made up for. High stress, no money.

Worried about layoffs?

You're not powerless. You can certainly fight back.

The whole point of the layoffs are to keep the already struggling Cigna stock value up. The goal of this is to please investors and because the CEO, David Cordani, is payed mostly in stocks (no really, look it up on the SEC website).

If you are an employee you might have a 401k. A 401k is a collection of stocks used for retirement. Your 401k likely has at least one fund invested mostly in Cigna stock. When you are layed off, or maybe even before, transfer those Cigna funds to something else/better. Your retirement account will be better invested and you have undone any stock benefit of them laying you off.

And Again the Layoffs Occur

This company is in a constant state of laying people off. Shipping jobs now to India. That will evidently solve all of their problems.
Nice job in giving jobs to another country. You sure your customers will be ok with that especially knowing your pal is the one you’re doing business with? Conflict of interest I would say.
We know what is going on and what goes around comes around.
