#layoff

I left in 2024, I was laid off. I'm really sorry to hear about the layoff. That's tough &it's okay to feel whatever you're feeling right now. But i know all of you are VERY capable and good at what you do... Sometimes these things happen and they end up leading to something better, even tho it may not feel that way right now. I did and you WILL land at some place that appreciates what you bring. Godspeed.

This is more of a vent….

So, my layoff date is January 8th, 2025. I’ve only been with the company for 2 and a half years. I see I’m only getting a month’s worth of severance pay - the three weeks plus 40hrs of PTO. That’s bs! How am I supposed to survive? I’ve seen some companies give at least three months worth of a package. And I’ve already been looking for jobs, but I’m getting lots of rejection emails. I have a Masters in Healthcare Administration and I just saw where my degree will no longer be considered a professional degree. This year has already been a train wreck for me personally! I couldn’t even celebrate my graduation because I literally found out I was being laid off a week afterwards. 2026, please be good to us. We need jobs, income, and peace. At least I do.

I'm RIFd, and I'm actually pretty happy about it. I've been here a long time and it was time. I'm grateful for the many years I've been employed. However, it isn't the same company it used to be. For those of you who are surprised and upset, my heart goes out to you. Thanks VZ for the years and the many connections I made.

Getting people who have given years to this company on group calls to tell them they are now unemployed is inhumane

I can't remember of anything worse, but I haven't been here that long.

Has evening tours been notified yet, or do we need to wait till we start the shift?

Last day Feb 20th

They just laid-off 13,000 employees. So sad. We did NOT think that this was going to happen a year ago. Some things, like lay-offs are out of the employees control. As they say: "Everything happens for a reason". Our family member is in shock. Been there done that, myself. There IS a light at the end of the tunnel.

Anyone heard any contractors being layed off? All I have heard atleast from my team is FTE…which su-ks. I thought contractors would have been more impacted than FTE.

Part of the 9/19 bloodbath and got laid off without notice.

Aren't we supposed to get 60 day notice due to the federal WARN act? WARN violations charge $500 per day of violation. We should be getting an extra $30,000 to our severance.

Did anybody realize last week's layoffs were coming? For me, it completely came out of the blue. Now I'm even more nervous that it can happen any day without warning, and it's not helping my mental health at all.

Been here over a decade. TPD band 6. Last day 12/19.

They want us to help shift all our responsibilities and tie up loose ends. I don’t want to look at my work computer let alone help my manager right now.

Got the webex from my boss's boss. I'm out. Last Day 12/20 on payroll. Severance portal opens at 1pm.

Corporate Finance Ops. I'm 53. 9 years with company. 3 years as contractor before that. Band 7.

Not even a year here and I got my walking papers. I'm VGS. It was fun knowing you all, I guess.

Relieved tbh - My soul was being crushed and the universe rescuing me because of it.

Got the axe this morning. Band 8 Engr. Was doing the work for higher band team members. It is ironic that Dan wants to get leaner and perform better but keeps bloat that has been here for nearly a decade, but kicks younger employees to the curb.

As a spouse to a former Verizon employee who was riffed several years ago. I understand your fears. I pray all get the decision you wish for. Just know Verizon is a business and no one is irreplaceable. There’s no heart in it. I know what this kind of stress can do to a person. If you are riffed please take it as a blessing and leave Verizon in the rear window of your life. The constant mental torture of worry every few years is devastating to a person’s confidence and self worth sometimes. As my spouse is here in a hospice bed the only thing I’m grateful for is that Verizon means nothing to him. If you have your health and family that’s all you need. Hold your head up and find a job that won’t run you through mental torture every few years. It’ll be worth it no matter how it turns out for you today. I wish you all the best in life.

All these years down the drain. Never once rated low and never written up. Told my job was being eliminated but yet they want to help train the supervisors taking my techs .

I’ve heard people are being told to take the rest of the day today if they’re given notice, but what about Friday? I can’t imagine coming in tomorrow and pretending everything is BAU after getting laid off today.

I wonder why Union isn’t involved in layoffs because every where I read if the company is restructuring even Union could be laid off! I safely assume August 2026 no more contracts for Union employees. Someone help me understand.

Long term loyal employees are professionals and do understand the changing business environment. If the business has a need and decide to send them out, atleast pick a decent time to do it, well before or after Thanksgiving week.

Don't punch them hard in their face 2 days before Thanksgiving, they have to show their face to their family when they get home.

Got meeting invite from SD, but our whole team is on it. SD informed us 2days ago he is moving to another org. So our whole team may be getting let go, except for him of course.

Had a pre scheduled PTO day, wondering if they’ll still call or wait until tomorrow. I’d like to get this cr-p over with.

I got nothing so far. Should I take this as a sign I might make it? I don't see why they wouldn't send out invites for the entire team at once. Is anybody in a similar position?
