Official South Bow Thread

I see that SOBO went through some cuts. I also see that a few posts were removed due to probably using initials of the degenerate directors. censorship is alive and well.

P.S. sorry for the TCE folks who have to see this in their feeds. South Bow doesn't have its own page yet but no worries, it will be a good laugh for you guys.

LAYOFF.COM: As of 2014 Verizon employs 180,000 people.

This is literally the description on the Layoff.com portal

Let’s that sink in!!!!!!!

We are now 85k barely. We have lost close to 100k employees.

This is a effing TITANIC I say. Jump while you can. Indian future CEO is already interviewing. Trust me!!!!

Too much work, too few people

Our manager talks about work/life balance, but cuts and voluntary departures mean the workload just keeps growing. Its becoming exhausting and nobody seems to care. I don't know how the rest of you are dealing with it, but I'm this close to walking away, and I don't even have anything lined up.

Ousted Hans could still pocket most of $20M salary as company cuts 15,000 jobs

The grift that keeps on grifting. He will consult through the transition.
Plus private jet perks and more for leading the company from 1st to 3rd place.
Will he still have a security detail?
Employee shareholders pay the price.

I’ve resigned myself to the fact that the downward spiral will continue

There’s no real chance of recovery on the path we’re on, especially with the people steering the wheel. At this point it barely matters whether the next cuts land in December or later. They’re coming. It would just be nice if, for once, the people responsible actually took the blame. It’s absurd to pretend anyone but leadership is accountable for the state of affairs.

Meta’s Zuckerberg plans deep cuts for metaverse efforts

Executives are considering potential budget cuts as high as 30% for the metaverse group next year, which includes the virtual worlds product Meta Horizon Worlds and its Quest virtual reality unit, according to people familiar with the talks, who asked not to be named while discussing private company plans. Cuts that high would most likely include layoffs as early as January, according to the people, though a final decision has not yet been made.

To people worried about their reviews

Don’t be. Or at least, don’t take them to heart. They aren’t genuine assessments. They’re just a convenient cover for cuts and reorgs. A bad review might increase the odds of being let go, but it says nothing about your real performance, and definitely nothing about your actual value. Leadership is focused on finding the easiest and cheapest ways to push people out, whether it’s through reviews or some other pretext. The whole thing is just theatrics.

Tech Reorg Incoming

History repeats itself. The great RIF’s of 2023 and 2024 were big. The 2025 one was disruptive. I don’t think we have seen anything yet with what’s coming ahead of FY27 given current path. Everyone in teams are going to be asked to cut and tech is going to be back to the basics. Keep email going and get people phones and computers. Then get out of the way.

Few domains will be left. The way EH wants it. He thinks Tech is nonsense. Just knows he cannot say it in public on record.

Surviving the layoff lottery

Every time the cuts hit, it feels like they're pulling names out of a hat because skills and performance and dedication never seem to matter in the final call. It turns the whole thing into a layoff lottery, and after watching that play out over and over, it's hard to feel motivated to give everything you've got when it clearly doesn't affect who stays or who gets pushed out.

Oil price fall turns up the heat on Big Oil's bloated payouts

By America Hernandez and Stephanie Kelly
October 7, 2025

SUMMARY

  • Current payouts unsustainable with oil below $80 a barrel

  • Crude oil prices expected to continue falling

  • Companies under pressure to cut debt

  • Reduced buybacks and job cuts announced

PARIS/LONDON, Oct 7 - The five biggest global oil majors are moving to cut costs, jobs and share buybacks as falling oil prices threaten to make shareholder payouts unsustainable without increasing debt, analysts said.

Chevron (CVX.N), ExxonMobil (XOM.N), BP (BP.L), Shell (SHEL.L), and TotalEnergies (TTEF.PA), have pledged high returns for the past decade to avert an investor exodus as fossil fuels lost their appeal.

But maintaining those generous payouts, which have topped $100 million annually since 2022, has increasingly been funded by debt as energy prices retreated from highs caused by sanctions and supply disruptions in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
