McKinsey Plots 1,000s of Job Cuts

Discussing a 10% workforce reduction in non-client-facing departments.

  • Whatever goes around comes around - "It's the kind of advice the firm might offer one of its clients, and comes after headcount exploded between 2012 (17,000) and today (40,000). " Enough said !!
  • "The advisory model is dying - consultancies would increasingly need to underwrite outcomes rather than bill hours" .. Duh !

$1000 “Bonus”

I bet they shared this news when they did so they could get rid of a wave of rage-quitters before they hand out their “ever-so-gracious” 1k bonus in January. I know at the end of the year it’ll all even out, but it’s still such cr-p that our paychecks will be shorter on that first check, even with the bridge advance, due to the higher supplemental taxes.

Chubb plans to cut 20% of his workforce

Chubb plans to cut workforce massively thanks to automation. Is AIG going to follow? We have cut a lot already but automation isn't our cup of tea for now, let's be real. Can we compete in the market with our present level of costs? I wish good luck and happy Christmas to everyone, I hope 2026 will be ok.

Reorg and more work

Every time we go thru these reorganization of markets and job, All they do is run lean and assign more work to their employees who are already overworked, stretched thin and under paid. They never give any more compensation for the extra work and when you call the speak up line, nothing ever gets done. What a joke this company has turned into. You want to cut the fat, Cut all the fat from Ram Krishnan and his entourage who spent hundreds of thousands dollars travel the world like he is running for president. He has done absolutely nothing good for the company!!!! I can think of past leaders who didn’t travel and had a bigger impact than this joker. We have to many layers of management in the facilities and nobody holds ANYBODY accountable. Cut the extra layers and have plant directors who hold people accountable and maybe we can get this company back to number one. Maybe if they actually talked to real people in The round table meetings and not their staged puppets, they would get real talk with real issues in the facilities. This used to be a great company and people carried but now it is a joke and we come just for a paycheck. Turn it around, get employee involvement and get us to actually care again and we can make it great.

Extra work

That’s all we can hope for in the coming months, while they pick us off one by one. I’m not investing any extra time or effort anymore. Did it do any good for the people who were just laid off? No, of course not. Many of those who were cut were dedicated, believing that hard work pays off. It doesn’t.

Ottawa job cuts: Layoff letters starting to ‘trickle out’ across system

In Budget 2025, the government outlined plans to eliminate thousands of jobs over the next few years. Ottawa plans to eliminate roughly 40,000 federal positions by 2028-29 as part of broader fiscal restructuring.

Oregon: Charter Communications Job Cuts 2025

Charter Communications, operating as Spectrum, is laying off 176 employees at its Portland, Maine call center as part of a strategic push for cost efficiencies and to embrace automation within the telecommunications industry.
Key points from the article:

  • Number of Jobs Cut: 176 at the Portland, Maine call center.
  • Reason: Strategic cost-cutting and a trend toward operational efficiency and automation across the telecom sector.
  • Customer Impact: The company assures that the layoffs will not negatively impact customer service for Spectrum users in Maine, citing plans like rerouting calls and using automated solutions.
  • Worker Support: Affected employees are reportedly offered relocation options and severance packages, with the Maine Department of Labor providing assistance like job placement services.
  • Broader Context: This action reflects a wider industry trend of workforce reductions seen at other major telecom companies like Verizon and AT&T.
Would you like more details on a specific section, such as the support offered to the affected workers or the industry-wide context?

A word of caution

After the last round of cuts, anyone who picks up all the extra slack is just setting themselves up for more trouble. I'm sticking strictly to my contracted hours and focusing on my core tasks. If our overall output drops, that's a direct reflection of the staffing decisions, not our effort. It's the only way management might actually see the problem they created.

Pajaro Valley school board approves nearly 160 staff cuts

The Pajaro Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees voted to approve nearly 160 staff layoffs in a hectic meeting Thursday that ended just before midnight.

No surprises here

The regular drumbeat of cuts has had a damaging impact on morale as staff become accustomed to the ever-present threat of losing their jobs, sources said. Co-workers regularly vanished from Slack without much, if any, explanation, sources said, with staff often only finding out when former colleagues post about being let go on LinkedIn. Shopify did not respond to a request for comment.

Bankruptcy in 2029 - Management will pay themself millions in the meantime and lay off employees

They pushed all debt to 2029 push br all while paying themselves millions. They will start firing employees once investors start getting pissy but won't lower there salary. What happens when you hire a hillbilly CEO who sounds low IQ.

How's this even supposed to work?

Half our team is gone, and somehow we’re supposed to keep everything running like nothing changed. I genuinely don’t understand how leadership thinks the same workload is going to get done with half the people. There’s no plan, no adjustment, nothing. How's this supposed to work?

Hundreds of layoffs have been announced at suburban companies over the past few days.

Hundreds of layoffs are hitting Chicago’s suburbs. S&S Activewear is letting go of 195 employees, APL Logistics is cutting 230, and 10 Roads Express is dropping 55 workers - adding up to almost 700 layoffs across Illinois.

Cuts in the new year 2026?

Any word on cuts in the new year in 2026? Some job functions are starting to integrate AI to reduce headcount. Repetitive functions are being streamlined by AI. This is occurring from roles from accounts receivable, payable, payroll, service desk analyst, desktop analyst and more.

Some say because CNRL has a history of not cutting it won’t occur in one shot. Rather they will initially try to focus cuts on attrition (not hiring for those who retire, quit or go on disability leave). CNRL has been historically slow to take any strategy moves. With the changing economy and tariffs we will have no choice to pivot. Other industries have seen and continue to see job cuts due to AI. It’s only a matter of time before the impact is seen here.

Hold off on those expensive summer vacation to France, Germany or other places like some did in 2025. We are in for a rough ride ahead. Believe it or not AI is coming for our jobs even here at CNRL, it’s just a matter of time.

Here's to hoping the Banmedica sell will remove Unqualified Infosec Staff

Right on time for UHG to complete divesting the LATM businesses. One can only hope with that the unqualified people with fake LinkedIns will also be divested.

Let's start with the UHG Segment Information Security Officer - Global who also claims to be and International Information Security Officer - Cybersecurity. He has a non-verifiable certification from ISACA. Let's hope the company is not paying for his CISM renewal for the Kenya Chapter which is just another example of questionable experience.

He has yet to demonstrate he can actually delivery what he claims on LinkedIn. Everyone in ESRO is tired of handing over their documentation to him and his buddy who interestingly enough has two jobs here at UHG. While there are layoffs going on, he for some reason is a Segment Information Security Officer and International Information Security Liaison. How does that work given no relevant IT or security certifications.

Qualified American citizens have been laid off from UHG and Optum since 2015 yet non-qualified people that are kept on. While Jairo Orea was here, he gave both of them the top scores and bonuses. Neither of these recruits ever lead the efforts they have on their LinkedIn.

Yes there are staff cuts coming once the the complete divesture is Banmedica is complete. ESRO staff with the rights certs and degrees make sure you document ever effort you lead and if you provide coaching.

Cuts don’t make much sense

They do only if you care exclusively about the short-term bottom line. We’ve been losing good people and destroying well-established and efficient teams. And it doesn’t really matter that it’s happening right before Christmas. That fact just makes the greed, incompetence, carelessness, and disregard even more jarring.

How’s that reorg working for ya?

Do we feel like we finally have the swim lanes straightened out? Is this model going to get us to the top? Or is it a s-show slapped together with all of us plebs suffering through the chaos? The execs know, but it is acceptable from their perspective. We are expendable anyway.
Cutting jobs to the top of the food chain! That will beat xom!

Making do with less resources

Laying off staff and trying to make do with less resources…
New staff who don’t know much about the job and the company…
Tenured associates with the role and company knowledge gone…
News flash T Rowe, what do you think is going to happen? Who is going to do the work? Who knows how to do the work?

T-Mobile Layoffs coming

During a recent leadership call, T-Mobile’s new corporate team announced that major organizational changes would be implemented by mid-January. The message was delivered with an unusual emphasis on “emotional intelligence,” as leaders reminded employees to manage their feelings throughout the transition. To many on the call, this advice came across as tone-deaf—almost dismissive—especially given the real possibility that these changes could dramatically affect workers’ livelihoods at a time when the cost of living continues to rise.

For employees already feeling the strain of inflation, uncertainty, and demanding workloads, being told to focus on emotional intelligence felt like an indirect admission that little consideration was being given to their actual well-being. Several team members interpreted the message as a clear signal that T-Mobile’s leadership was more concerned with optics than with the human impact of their decisions.

Some employees openly expressed frustrations, stating that working for T-Mobile since the merger has “been the pits,” and that they no longer find joy or purpose in their roles. Morale, once a hallmark of the company’s culture, has eroded. What was once marketed as an energetic, people-first workplace has increasingly begun to feel, to many, like a corporate machine asking for more while giving less.

As January approaches, employees are left navigating an atmosphere of uncertainty—hoping for the best, but bracing for changes that may once again redefine not just their work, but their way of life.

Layoffs by the numbers, once again

From everything I’ve seen, the only real criterion was the bottom line, which usually means we’ve lost a disproportionate amount of talent. A lot of teams are going to be even more crippled than before. I’m not exactly looking forward to all of us having to pick up even more work to cover the roles that just disappeared.

Official South Bow Thread

I see that SOBO went through some cuts. I also see that a few posts were removed due to probably using initials of the degenerate directors. censorship is alive and well.

P.S. sorry for the TCE folks who have to see this in their feeds. South Bow doesn't have its own page yet but no worries, it will be a good laugh for you guys.

LAYOFF.COM: As of 2014 Verizon employs 180,000 people.

This is literally the description on the Layoff.com portal

Let’s that sink in!!!!!!!

We are now 85k barely. We have lost close to 100k employees.

This is a effing TITANIC I say. Jump while you can. Indian future CEO is already interviewing. Trust me!!!!

Too much work, too few people

Our manager talks about work/life balance, but cuts and voluntary departures mean the workload just keeps growing. Its becoming exhausting and nobody seems to care. I don't know how the rest of you are dealing with it, but I'm this close to walking away, and I don't even have anything lined up.
