Rosenbury confronts layoffs and other issues

Nineteen months later, tensions between Rosenbury and the Barnard community have reached a boiling point. Despite hailing efforts from her administration—like the completed renovation of the Francine A. LeFrak Foundation Center for Well-Being and the implementation of a long-overdue maternity leave policy—Rosenbury has also seen a tenure marred by suspensions and expulsions of student protesters, layoffs of 77 full-time staff members, and the faculty vote of no confidence she received in April 2024, the first in Barnard’s history.

This is not a winning strategy

The so-called “low cost country” strategy has gutted entire departments and cost us some of our best people. Moving work overseas might save money on paper, but the loss of knowledge, morale, and quality is enormous. The people making these decisions never deal with the fallout.

Should we believe this will last?

U.S. Steel will end production at the plant, likely in November, but it won’t lay off any of the roughly 800 workers there or reduce their pay, it said. Workers will maintain the plant so that it is operational in case anything changes, U.S. Steel said.

https://www.timesleaderonline.com/news/national-news/2025/09/u-s-steel-to-end-steel-production-at-illinois-plant-but-no-layoffs/

It's not WFH

Everyone keeps blaming work-from-home for performance problems, but it’s not the issue. Morale has been crushed by layoffs, budget cuts, and chaotic changes. Not taking away peoples' flexibility might actually build some goodwill and help fix some of the damage.

September layoff running total

Sep10 4:30am UTC - Sep11 6:30am UTC totals: 190 layoffs.
September totals (except Sep01): 4538 layoffs, and 279 additions.

Methodology and day-by-day breakdown is in comments.

I got confirmation that lay offs are ongoing in Pacific region, but in some countries they have a 2 week delay after the notice, while they still have access to Slack. Thus, there are more layoffs in reality which will catch up in these totals in couple of weeks.

Enough with the mass hiring sprees followed by mass layoffs

It’s like the company has turned the workforce into a seasonal commodity instead of actual people. Every new round chips away at any remaining loyalty or pride in the work. Enough is enough. And if you don't know how high our hiring is, go and check. Makes no sense amid constant layoffs.

RTO Layoffs Are Basically Done. Back to BAU Layoffs.

Well, the RTO purge has pretty much run its course. Anyone who couldn’t relocate, wouldn’t commute, or flat out refused to play the badge swipe game is already gone or has one foot out the door. That was the whole point, force attrition without paying severance. Mission accomplished.

So what now? The RTO hammer can’t keep falling because there aren’t many left to force out. The novelty is wearing off, and the execs can’t keep blaming remote work forever. Sooner or later, the whole RTO obsession will fade into the background, and we’ll be right back to the good old AT&T tradition: cyclical layoffs every 6 months.

That’s the real playbook. Not collaboration. Not culture. Just headcount reduction on a timer. Watch, the headlines will quietly shift from “RTO enforcement” to “restructuring” and “realignment.” Different buzzwords, same outcome.

RTO was never about making the company stronger. It was a temporary stick to thin the herd. And now that the herd is thinned, the machine goes back to business as usual: cut, shuffle, repeat.

Why is management not telling the truth.

I was a victim of the layoffs today at JRC. And I don't understand why management is not telling the truth about another round of layoffs in November. An employee in HR told me two weeks ago that FE/RDXT is closing down in November. And when I call another employee in a different area, he said the same thing. They just don't know if they want to lay them off or move them. If you look at the order book, all of the orders stop in October. The manager told everyone that there area wasn't involved in this round. Why isn't he being truthful. The even put a new PGL in there, just to have the area close down. All of these guys lives are being impacted by lies.

10Q is in and only a third of layoffs complete

During the first quarter of fiscal 2026, our management approved, committed to and initiated plans to restructure and further improve efficiencies in our operations due to our acquisitions and certain other operational activities (2026 Restructuring Plan). The total estimated restructuring costs associated with the 2026 Restructuring Plan are up to $1.6 billion and will be recorded to the restructuring expense line item within our condensed consolidated statements of operations as they are incurred through the end of the plan. We recorded $415 million of restructuring expenses in connection with the 2026 Restructuring Plan during the three months ended August 31, 2025. Any changes to the estimates of executing the 2026 Restructuring Plan will be reflected in our future results of operations.

My layoff experience

Here’s how it all went down. I was on vacation at the beach, sipping a piña colada, when my manager sent me a text message saying it was an emergency and that I needed to get back to her immediately. I couldn't believe it. Was I really that important? Feeling a rush of self-importance, I replied, "Yes, boss, how can I help?" She then sent me a Zoom link.

I joined the meeting with my camera on so she could see how hard I was working - taking calls at the beach like a LinkedIn entrepreneur on the grind. However, I was surprised to see my skip-level manager on the call, complete with the classic Oracle fake office Zoom background. That's when it hit me: I had read stories on thelayoff.com about situations just like this. I was about to get laid off!

Thinking quickly, I decided to flip the script. Half-drunk, I blurted out, "I’m sorry to inform you that your positions have been eliminated. You will receive an email from HR shortly." The women on the screen widened their eyes in shock, and as they began to protest, the AI system took over and promptly shut them off. Their desperate cries echoed in my ears, and I couldn't believe it. I checked my Slack, and they were gone.

A few days later, when I returned to the office, my peers told me how our managers had indeed been laid off, and their anguished cries still echoed during subsequent Zoom meetings. And here I am, still in disbelief. Now, the last round of my RSUs will vest this month, and with the stock price where it is, I can retire and spend the rest of my days sipping piña coladas at the beach.

Just remember, if you find yourself about to be let go, flip the script, and daddy AI might just rescue you.

falling stock

stock falling to double digits, forget double digit growth. Too many SVPs with no work from GBS fired, yet no difference. some one in leadership should ask, instead of bull dozing on the employees, what is the company doing to grow and make life better.
layoffs, forcing people to do mundane work, no innovation, what more?

Owens Corning announces layoffs at Nephi location

Owens Corning, a multi-billion-dollar manufacturing company, confirmed it would be laying off a large portion of its staff in Utah.

Ansys was performing fine without Synopsys

I’m from Ansys, this entire acquisition has been terrible for morale. We’ve had little to no layoffs in decades operating along, even when we acquired other companies. Ansys was performing fine with no signs of layoffs and record breaking quarters without Synopsys. We’re less than 2 months in to the acquisition and are likely losing half of our staff.

Sassine's first act as ceo has been a terrible one, at least for the resources at Ansys.
OP: @ct+1k4r879jw

This. And now we are all going to pay the price for the acquisition, especially the Ansys people.

Novo Axes 9,000 Employees Worldwide

Novo Nordisk is cutting some 9,000 staff across its global operations in a bid to generate around $1.25 billion in annualized savings through 2026.

The layoffs amount to an 11% headcount reduction, according to BMO Capital Markets.

LE made $110,000,000,000 this morning

Larry made $110,000,000,000 just this morning. The stock is absolutely going crazy right now.

Amazing that after causing so much damage to people’s lives and families that this is the reward.

The concept of karma doesn’t exist, being a ba----d and being evil is rewarded in this world.

It feels like this world is overdue for a total cleansing, an extinction level meteor needs to just hit Earth to heal it.

90 day notice for Dec 2 2025 layoff

At least 100 employees received notice on September 2nd giving them 90 days until their December 2nd termination.

My manager called me into a 9:00 a.m. meeting and said "I and requires you read to you the following statement...". The notice was legalistic and had no positive message (like perhaps You haven't done anything actionable). He had no other details for me and no specifics about severance. He said I would receive an official document within 24 hours and I received that in the evening.

Opportunity is given to apply for jobs internally, but I have much better opportunities outside and BSC just isn't a great place to work. The usual job search consulting and training is available through the so-called "talent bridge".

Severance information was listed in the document that I received and all full-time non-manager employees will receive two weeks severance plus one additional week for every complete year of service. It appears we don't get any portion of our performance bonuses like TIP because the grant date is after termination.

So a meager severance package and a dreary 90 day notice while they try to get some transition how do I say and hope that we go away at zero cost. If we leave prior to termination date we get no severance and we lose TIP bonus regardless. Leaving people at risk for being jobless and short of funds right before Christmas.

That's a cold corporate kiss-off. They definitely care more about savings than treating people fairly.

Prior to this jobs downturn for having I would have had my pickup jobs. I still am not too concerned but can't be sure. We were told in a training bridge overview session that They recommend spending 30% of our job time on training and job search. I think they'll be lucky and will say thank you if I give half. The internal corporate optics are not good when they push on people already striped of their financial stability and professional dignity.

The movie Office Space tells us everything we need to know about how to use the little power we have to not become victims of corporate greed and cruelty. Practice Quiet-Quitting and "Not Missing Work".

This All-Employee meeting for CS and CS&D employees is a crazy waste of time.

Firstly they ignored the most up voted question about how to improve Support organization when they keep cutting headcount and experience.

But more importantly this is a completely pointless call for anyone not in the CS organization. It was an entire hour of talk about sales (called "adoption" and "renewal").

Why was I invited to this? We had to reschedule our application development support weekly meeting for this cr-p.

The customers repeatedly tell us they're dissatisfied with support (which is under CS&D), yet the board keeps reducing headcount and laying off our experienced support engineers. This company is doomed with these board execs seeking short term share growth over everything.

Total compensation for c suite and senior leadership.

Tell me how someone gets a $12M BONUS while freezing hiring and raises and at the same time firing thousands of people all while destroying our stock value.

Extracted Compensation Data from the 2025 Proxy Statement (Covering FY 2024)
The provided document is Xerox Holdings Corporation's 2025 Proxy Statement (dated April 9, 2025), which discloses executive and director compensation for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2024. Chandler CEO Town Hall Tomorrow

Heard from someone in the know that Schart isn’t going to directly talk about layoffs during the town hall, but heard he will be making remarks about leveraging AI and that its going to be sold under the guise of being able to help make our current jobs “easier”. YEAH, JUST BEFORE WE GET LAID OFF AND REPLACED BY A ROBOT!

If I had 10c on the dollar.

If I had 10 cents for every dollar wasted over the past 15 years, I'd be wealthy. From IT solutions and overstaffing to training and firing thousands of nurses, plus failed EMRs and workforce management, the waste is staggering. Worse, those responsible were paid handsomely for poor results and received golden parachutes when their failures became clear.

If you get laid off from Ford in October, this won’t help
