He did the paperwork, got the start date, told his family, gave his notice and then they rescinded it eight days later. No explanation, just sorry. SAP used to be the greatest company to work for, at least as far as I am concerned.

But now? Not anymore. The current board is su-king all joy and enthusiasm out of work.

But are other companies that different? Oracle... meh. Microsoft... no thanks.

Is there an alternative that a) pays well, b) treats their employees well, and c) is large enough not to disappear in the near to middle future?

Going George Costanza mode. Great time to get laid off for 6 months if you were also in the crosshairs. Looking on a potential bright side; the culture here started to su-k 5–6 years ago. Will be looking for a company that at least does a better job pretending I’m not just a number when breaking my back for them for over a decade!

Soooo many posts on LinkedIn in recent weeks of coworkers across multiple departments who’ve been here 5/10/15+ years leaving for better opportunities. Proactively leaving and not waiting for next round of layoffs in case they get hit next. Good for them and god help us who stay on this sinking ship thinking anything will change.

listening to Chris Stansbury talk about his race car while at the same time talking about shutting down legacy telecom along with our jobs is really quite amazing. He gets the gold and we get shafted.

Alright guys I’ll give y’all a real post. I was an SM in wealth and got laid off today. I know you guys like to hate on SM’s but seems like a lot of us got hit. Meeting was put on my calendar super early this morning as a 1-1 without any context. Been here for 10+ years and for severance I got 6 months, prorated bonus, PTO paid to cash, and shares cashed. My manager was visibly shaken up and was like a robot reading off a script just emotionless and monotone which was very unusual. Was told to take the rest of the day off and don’t bother coming into the office through the end of the month which is my last day.

It su-ks but I was already interviewing elsewhere which I’m stoked about the severance and all the payouts.

For those affected, just know you are not alone and this is just how “at will employment” works. I hope you all bounce back quick and enjoy a little time off to recoup. Or at best find another job and enjoy the dual income.

trend is, people are hating AI because of the impact it has on the environment all to cut some corners and not pay people... meanwhile companies are SHOVING THAT SLOP down our throats. STOP. AI is inaccurate, it hallucinates. You claim to be making lots of money yet axing tons of talented people just to push AI. this will fail and blow up in your face.

Forty-five employees were laid off by NSCC. The college is addressing a $15 million financial gap. Overall, 91 roles were eliminated by the college. Both management and union staff faced reductions. Faculty positions were not affected by these changes.

They hire people to work on a contract they won. When the contract work is completed nine out of ten times, they lay the people off. Most the contracts this company wins are short term.
You would have more job security accepting a job at Home Deport than you would ever have in accepting a job at Booz Allen.

I don’t know about you but I bust my hump working long hard and nonstop rapid pace. I eat at my laptop and I’m feeling like no matter how good or great or exceptional it’s never going to be enough. Add this and sprinkle in AI and globalized competing for jobs but I don’t know how I’ll survive all of this. Literally abc figuratively.

Kyndryl posted the intention of cutting some jobs. With a charge around $200M we can estimate approximately 2000 to 4000 jobs to be impacted.

Every time I see this I feel like it's a thinly veiled threat that my job is an expense to be managed.

I'm assuming gunjan was having trouble with english and doesn't know the difference between expense and employee, hence why they started using "colleagues" instead to prevent slip-ups when she talks.
