Fascinating

As an Ex-Frontier person I was warned about the culture in Verizon.

Boy were they right - it is deeply, deeply toxic. Battle hardened silos, everyone covering their as--s, no one accountable for decisions, leadership that doesn’t have a clue about leading (or telecoms for that matter), passive aggressive behaviors everywhere and at the top of it all a bunch of leaders who are happy clappy about the future with no real desire to lean in to changing the underlying culture. So no surprise that the awesome team at Frontier has now almost all left. Will be fascinating to see how the financial performance of the old Frontier business develops, or will it become invisible and quietly disappear to be written off, just as with all VZ acquisitions. Remember Blue Jeans, Yahoo, Terramark etc etc. The street should be punishing these guys.

Curious if anyone knows any details and specifically how much it sold for considering it cost $4.3B in 2014-15 to acquire Nextel and Lusocel

Zoom Acquisition

at what point do we admit passing on the Zoom deal might’ve been a huge mistake for shareholders and the company? all we see now is mostly layoffs, low morale and a sinking ship talk. how does everyone think it would’ve turned out? Zoom CX seems to be doing just fine without us

NUVIA becomes NV

They barely bothered finding a new name..

Qualcomm buys NUVIA, they get bored by how this company works, they create a new company that QC will have to buy in a few years to get competitive again. That says a lot…

Moving toward a sell...

So who is the strategic fit with all the layoffs and shutdowns? Weatherford is strong on the books but they are not going to be able to sustain growth as they can't grow the market share against the SLB, Halliburton, or even Baker.

I would bet on Baker, as they seem to be cleaning their books of distractions and getting to the core. I'm not sure WFRD has much to offer them at this point, as they may have in the past, but still would seem the best option for them -- just come other areas that would need to be divested.

Have a wonderful day!

Google AI question: Has Accenture taken jobs from investment firms other that IT?

Yes, Accenture has taken over significant non-IT operational and business functions from investment firms, asset managers, and capital markets entities. Through its "Managed Services" and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) arms, Accenture often assumes responsibility for middle- and back-office operations, strategy, and talent to cut costs and modernize processes.

Examples of non-IT job functions taken over by Accenture include:

Middle & Back Office Operations: Accenture manages end-to-end trading lifecycle operations, including trade processing, reconciliation, settlement, and clearing. 👀

Asset & Wealth Management Services: They provide operational support for portfolio management, investment stewardship, and client service teams. 👀

Finance & Risk Management: Accenture runs finance, risk management, and regulatory compliance reporting, taking over these functions to manage regulation and data.

Transaction Advisory & M&A: They provide strategy consulting, post-merger integration, and operational restructuring services, effectively taking over the planning and execution roles formerly held by internal teams.

Procurement: Accenture offers procurement outsourcing, managing vendor relationships and purchasing processes for financial institutions.

Human Resources/Talent: During acquisitions, Accenture often replaces internal HR and project management (PMO) staff with their own centralized global HR group.

How they do it:

Accenture typically acquires specialized consultancies (such as Altus Consulting for investment technology or SKS Group for banking) and then uses its "shared services" model to offshore or automate roles, which frequently results in the displacement of the client’s original staff.

Avaya Patent Sell-Offs

How do you earn some quick cash when you've already shrunk the workforce? Sell off your Intellectual Property! You have to wonder why they weren't sold to Extreme Networks back in 2017 when Avaya sold off its failing <Ahem... non-core 😂) networking business.

Relax, no major layoffs!

Here’s the real situation on Qualcomm layoff rumors right now — what’s confirmed, what’s circulating internally, and what’s just speculation.

🔍 What’s Confirmed (Public, Verifiable)

These are not rumors — they’re official:

• A small WARN filing (5 employees) in San Diego for May 26, 2026
• Previous rounds in 2024–2025:• 226 employees across 16 San Diego sites
• Earlier 1,250+ cuts less than a year before

• Qualcomm continues targeted, small-scale reductions as part of its shift away from smartphone dependency toward AI PCs, automotive, and edge compute

These are documented and not rumor-driven.

🔄 What’s Rumored (Inside the Industry)

These are circulating in semiconductor circles, but not confirmed by filings or press:

  1. “More micro‑layoffs coming in San Diego”

• Several engineers report that Qualcomm may continue small WARN filings (5–20 people) throughout 2026
• Pattern matches the April 2026 filing
• These would be team-specific, not company-wide

  1. “Modem teams may shrink again”

• Because Apple is reducing reliance on Qualcomm modems
• Some internal chatter suggests select modem sub-teams could be trimmed
• No official documents yet

  1. “AI PC push is causing internal reshuffling”

• Snapdragon X Elite and AI PC roadmap are pulling resources
• Rumor: some legacy teams may be merged or dissolved
• This usually leads to role eliminations or reassignments

  1. “Automotive division hiring while other groups freeze”

• Not layoffs, but a shift in headcount allocation
• Some groups feel “frozen” while auto/AI groups continue hiring
• This often precedes targeted cuts

🧭 What’s NOT Happening (Despite Online Speculation)

These rumors are false or exaggerated:

• ❌ No evidence of a large mass layoff
• ❌ No sign of a 10%+ workforce reduction
• ❌ No confirmation of layoffs tied to the rumored Intel acquisition exploration
• ❌ No broad hiring freeze across the company

Qualcomm is doing surgical, strategic cuts, not sweeping layoffs.

📌 Why Rumors Are Spreading Now

Three reasons:

  1. Smartphone demand is still soft
  2. AI PC transition is expensive
  3. Qualcomm is reallocating talent, which always creates anxiety inside engineering teams

When a company shifts strategy, rumors fill the gaps before official announcements.

Is it true?

Is it true that parts of the business are about to sold off?
FMS, that’s Mono pumps is apparently about to be sold one of its larger competitors!
If it’s true then it’s great that we will soon be managed more professionally but I’m sure it will lead to cuts as they have a lot of duplication of roles!
Brush up on your German guys, it’s about to get interesting

GE Vernova, formerly a part of General Electric, spent $70 million to buy a distribution center in Rostraver last month, adding to the Massachusetts-based power generation equipment manufacturer’s strong Pennsylvania presence.

Westmoreland County property records show GE Vernova subsidiary GE Renewables Grid LLC purchased the more than 700,000-square-foot property from Gordon One LLC.

GE Vernova, which is headquartered in Cambridge, Mass., was created when General Electric split into three companies in 2024.

GE Vernova did not immediately respond to questions about its plans for the property along Finley Road known as Amcel Center Two. The company leased about 150,000 square feet in the building prior to buying it.
