Timing of Severance Contract/Agreement

I was RIFd a couple of weeks ago. Non working notice until mid to late March.

I did receive an email outlining the rules of my notice period and it said I would receive a “separation package via Docusign” as soon as administratively possible, but I have not received it yet

Can anyone out there who has been RIFd before me, perhaps last year, advise of how long it was before you received your severance package via Docusign?

Update on our organization

I want to let you know that we're making additional organizational changes across Amazon that will impact some of our teammates. I recognize this is difficult news, which is why I’m sharing what’s happening and why.
As I shared in October, we've been working to strengthen our organization by reducing layers, increasing ownership, and removing bureaucracy. While many teams finalized their organizational changes in October, other teams did not complete that work until now.
The reductions we are making today will impact approximately 16,000 roles across Amazon, and we're again working hard to support everyone whose role is impacted. That starts with offering most US-based employees 90 days to look for a new role internally (timing will vary internationally based on local and country level requirements). Then, for teammates who are unable to find a new role at Amazon or who choose not to look for one, we'll provide transition support including severance pay, outplacement services, health insurance benefits (as applicable), and more.
While we’re making these changes, we’ll also continue hiring and investing in strategic areas and functions that are critical to our future. We’re still in the early stages of building every one of our businesses and there’s significant opportunity ahead.
Some of you might ask if this is the beginning of a new rhythm – where we announce broad reductions every few months. That’s not our plan. But just as we always have, every team will continue to evaluate the ownership, speed, and capacity to invent for customers, and make adjustments as appropriate. That’s never been more important than it is today in a world that’s changing faster than ever.
I'm grateful for how our teams continue to deliver – for customers, for each other, and for the incredible things we're building together.
Thank you,
Beth

It’s a game and the deck is stacked against you.

All the complaints around severance, PIPS, notices etc…. It’s a mixed bag of confusion on purpose. Designed to frustrate you and have you just walk away and not follow up. Tons of gaslighting, shuffling of meeting times and mixed message. It’s not disorganization, it’s the plan. A meeting invite to “discuss things” , your PIP. You show up and no one else does. Then much later an apology as something more urgent came up that needed attended to so a reschedule is needed. This will happen a time or two. It’s all designed to keep you on edge, stressed so that you’ll leave.

The same applies to the severances. “Any questions, concerns or updates needed just contact this number\email\person etc..” and when you do, no answers, no return calls, no traction. If you’re persistent enough you’ll get somewhere but again, its all be design.

All in all, they just want you to go away with little to no hassle or fuss. Trust me, this is the plan at work. None of it is illegal but certainly pushes the boundaries of the Citi trustworthiness, honesty, yada yada…but they don’t care. It’s the bottom line that matters and the bottom line is that you have to be ran off in order to make up for the lack of the return on investment on AI that was promised to the board. Unfair or not, this is all there is to it.

Question for those formerly displaced..

If you were previously displaced, did you get your annual bonus? Or do they find a reason not to give it? I had a “meets” rating at midyear before displaced in Oct. so didn’t get an annual review due to the timing. I met the eligibility cut off because I was employed through September 30, 2025. Thank you.

I would prefer not hearing from anybody just speculating, rather people who have been displaced and can speak on experience.

RSUs for Riffed Employees

I have been carefully watching the status of RSUs due to being riffed. I have a screen shot of RSU units and estimated value at that time. The severance FAQ document Q.33 indicates that RSUs granted in 2023, 2024 and 2025 will pay out at their vested rate in 60-90 days after severance.

WARNING: What is not stated .... is that all your RSU's will be frozen at stock value as of 12/19/2025 (last day of employment). Meaning -- what is distributed (arbitrarily and in the last few weeks) is now where near the estimated vested rate per Fidelty in November or December.

Anyone let go in december get severence offer yet?

Was let go in early December, told I would get an offer the start of January but after calling HR I was told I was still an employee for Jan and would get the offer mid to late Jan but have still not received any email from them and doubt Ill be getting one tomorrow..Anyone in a similar boat get any new info? Thanks.

How to manage Severance

I am getting 22 weeks of severance and I don’t want to lose it. However I may have the ability to come back and am in interviews next week. My last day is 2-6-26. If I ask this new division to wait until the 7 days after I sign my severance to offer me the job, can I keep the severance? I need to work but don’t want to lose the money.

Severance Pay Schedule

Is the severance payout on a different schedule than regular payroll?

Two weeks ago I received my normal paycheck. Last week I was paid again—slightly more than usual—which I believe included my PTO payout. This week should have been a regular pay period, but I haven’t received anything.

My 60-day working period ended last week, and I’m now officially on severance. I just want to understand how the payment timing works going forward.

Any tips on asking to get laid off?

For those who asked to be laid off and got the severance package, can you share how to ask (even though it’s not allowed) and how long it took? Can anyone weigh in on the chances of this happening? Thanks.

Sorry for all the people who were laid off and didn’t want it but hope you’ll find another job which will probably pay better.

What is the Battle Damage Assessment (BDA)?

For those who were laid off, condolences. Don't sign anything without examining it carefully or, if you think appropriate, have an attorney review it. For those with long careers, please invoke the Rule of 70 when discussing your severance. It has to do with compensating tenured employees close to retirement age. Whether they honor it or not, it will give them something to consider if it keeps coming up. Be kind to yourselves. When reviewing your resume, make sure that it is in an ATS friendly format, this will make sure that any AI tools being used to filter resumes will see it and forward it for review. Apply for unemployment too. Remember, none of this was your fault. It will continue to happen to those still left on the field. It ain't over.

Cigna/evernorth/express scripts whatever it is this week

Why is everyone not posting what area/department they are in? Why would you owe this company any discretion whatsoever? They don’t/have never cared for their employees. I can’t speak for everyone but at my location Every year it’s something new to stress about.. lay offs, VTO, forced retirement, new laws passing or not passing, no overtime for months at a time, can’t use your PTO for months at a time. They never let us get caught up when we are behind. They will use overtime one week then the next be using VTO and sending people home. They’re laying 2,000 of us off but still actively having job interviews and hiring people? I’d say it’s not a loss at all to be laid off from this place. I’d wait, get laid off, take my severance, then get a better job. If they had any brains at all they would get rid of all their people in charge that are making millions bc they clearly don’t know what the he-l they’re doing. My thoughts go out to all those already laid off and future people. I say get out and day as much info to us as possible. You don’t owe this place anything.

The hidden costs of layoffs

It should be no surprise that layoffs ultimately cost a company more in the long run, but here's an interesting interview nonetheless. It's worth a listen, but the TLDR is that short term gains are obvious, but longer term, it usually results in underperformance relative to companies who don't do that.

https://hbr.org/podcast/2023/12/the-hidden-costs-of-layoffs

Now, that's just layoffs, so imagine what happens when you aren't just laying off, but also using dubious tactics to stack rank, fabricate performance reviews, and look for ways to fire people for cause as a way to avoid severance costs?

This is why I am not long in WFC and I watch it every month or so for opportunities to short.

Is severance officially maxed out at 4 weeks?

I know a few people that were recently let go in Boston. Rumored be part of the initial phase of the Lake Mary relocation (they relayed to their manager that they had no interest in moving to Florida and that feedback was cascaded up).

All of them here 10+ years.

3 or 4 years ago they would have been given 6+ months. I think the maximum used to be 52 weeks.

I am hearing they each received full pay to the end of the pay period plus another 4 weeks.

Is this the new policy? Is a quality severance for people with 20+ years officially now gone? Has anyone heard of anyone let go in the last few months that was given a more substantial package?

Severance

For anyone who mentioned over the past couple of years that they were waiting for a severance package, what’s the plan now? Just curious because I was in the same boat, and honestly, the job market is rough. My current strategy is to switch things up and play the corporate game. Thankfully, I got a meets this year. I did 40% less work, so now I’m planning to step it up and do 20% more than last year, and fingers crossed I can keep that meets.

At least…

At least there was severance provided. So many employees this year got fired for cause (so no benefits no severance not eligible for unemployment). Does the company su-k for this? Certainly. Will they repost our same jobs for 80% less in 6 months. 💯. Take your severance and run. This bank is a sinking ship.

Termination due to sales/consulting quota not met

Question: HR and manager did read my termination blurb. During the call announce they will pay severance which appears to cover about 3 months of salary. Great since I was about to leave anyway to join a startup.
I imagine there is no stock acceleration typically offered correct?
Question:
I recall something about Cobra. Not sure I would need to pay premiums. Not interested in that since I can join wife excellent medical plan instead.

What I Should Have Done

I was laid off a while back. I really messed up during my layoff meeting.
I had enough service time to get the maximum severance and had kind of seen it coming and had taken steps to prepare for the next chapter of my career. So I was more or less going to be ok.
All the same it was upsetting and I let them see how upset I was, which was exactly the response they wanted.
I should have just laughed in their faces and walked out.
