Say a mass layoff happens next week like it did back in 2015. Will the meetings where they break the news to people be over Zoom? Will there be a room option and a Zoom option tied to the meeting. I’m just trying to picture how this will all work given our hybrid model, as that obviously wasn’t a thing they really had to worry about back in 2015. I honestly hope it’s just a Zoom call. Sounds less traumatizing lol
What happens if I’m on PTO the day they do layoffs? Will they call me on my personal phone, or wait until I’m back in office the next week?
Can somebody PLEASE state if they've started notifying people already or if the layoffs will start sometime next week or at some other point in the future? The lack of available information is stressing me out, to put it mildly.
Was notified I will no longer be employed in 2026.
WILL BE DONE BY AUTOMATED EMAIL
Not Tuesday 28!
MOST line managers don't know the details yet!
Info from HR friend.
Clearly a change from the previous company process.
Solution Engineer, received email this morning. Several of my sales team as well let go. Meeting for details later.
Have those been affected by the planned reductions been notified yet or given clues? Here at Imperial and EM Canada? Asking for a friend...
Marriott is being hush hush about exactly how many, but HUGE cuts are happening. Notifications to those affected this week, new postings this month, and those that don't get offers are out Jan 2. An entire IT department is going from 40+ to 4, North America reservation centers closing and consolidating leadership, HR, and support teams, support above center is being gutted. Not Mr. Marriott's vision at all. 😔
Standby for more notifications to emerge
We were told company wide layoffs are coming. I hate this impending doom every year around holidays. Su-ks because nobody is safe during a layoff.
Does anyone know when managers get notified that their direct reports will get displaced due to location strategy? I've heard that it's the Friday before a Tuesday layoff for direct managers. Also curious when second level managers know.
RIF coming soon and notifications will be on 10/23. Believe it will be 6% across the company and all departments will be impacted. Thanks for the usual early Christmas present, Verizon.
Meeting invites out today for layoffs
It was bad enough we didn't get to say goodbye to those they threw out of the firm as the firm asked us all to stay home to receive calls. We found out if you were laid off you were immediately banned from the building like you were a criminal. Nobody got to say goodbye. Then those of us left got to watch the firm come through with a huge trash can and clean out the file cabinets and lockers of those laid off. Why, why would you do this during the work day? The firm couldn't do this task after hours or the weekend? This firm has lost its humanity. Guess the lesson is everyday hug your friends at work. Tell them how much you appreciate them and do not keep anything at work. Prepare like every day is your last day.
Heard from a director that we will most likely be notified before the week of November 10 to WFH. So, no one will be in office and the layoffs will happen over a phone call. Curious if anyone has heard the same info?
A colleague told me they got some sort of pre-notice (working) of ~30 days before they were going to get an official notice of 60 days (non-working) in the near future. I've only heard of something like this in broad locations getting displaced and NOT individuals. Is this new or just very unique situation? EVERY individual I've known displaced prior was immediately non-working.
HR accidentally sent me a layoff notice and try to retracting it they already went to my cell phone. It happens the end of this week and I'm calling in sick with all my sick time and using FMLA.
HR has rooms blocked off for Thursday. Lots of rumors running rampant it is going to happen tomorrow. Prepare and good luck to all.
Was supposed to be in a meeting and the person had an OOO stating they were no longer with the company....are we letting go of people. I looked up another person and same message.
A lot of people it should theoretically apply to, including me, still haven’t. All it’s done so far is create a ton of confusion.
Have you been notified of your fate? Post here! My manager has been very quiet.
The largest single corporate layoff in U.S. history was IBM's reduction of its workforce by 60,000 employees in 1993.
However, the ongoing mass federal layoffs under the second Trump administration, potentially exceeding 200,000 workers and possibly reaching 300,000, could surpass this corporate record if completed. More to come in 4th Quarter 2025
Other major layoffs include Citigroup's 50,000 job cuts in 2008 and Sears' 50,000 job cuts in 1993.
Sending the we will be laying people off email before actually telling someone that they are laid off is wild…. Does anyone know what departments are going to be hit with this?
What’s the process for employees that are impacted this round?
I have been told that a bunch of people have been notified by management that they have been selected. Is this true?
Who do we know that have gotten notified so far?
Reductions in business segments are happening in Mid sept. And reductions for shared service areas are happening in Mid Oct (decision tools being sent this week)
What happens if you are laid off while on leave? How do they notify you?
Layoffs across multiple finance disciplines w notification date 9/25. They are waiting until VOE closes on 9/18 to inform the impacted employees.
Could you please clarify which level of management is informed in advance about upcoming layoffs within their teams?
Over the past few weeks, I’ve noticed a stark increase in the amount of time being taken off. I don’t think this is part of the normal summer vacation cycle. I’m getting the impression that people are flamed out and have stopped giving full effort, and it’s completely understandable and justified. August has been just as bad as July. Get ready for another “not acceptable” email from Salmonella.
Either via email or snail mail, confirming that you've been laid off? Or was the verbal notification during the 1 on 1 the only one you got so far?
Is it safe to assume that the majority was notified today and tomorrow will not be nearly as bad? Or am I just deluding myself?
Curious if it’s just me/my phone, but I’ve noticed that I haven’t gotten any of my Teams or Outlook notifications on my personal cell today. If you have them installed on your phone, are you still getting notifications?
Hey you guys, I received a call today that I will have to start working from the office again “soon” and I work in Risk. Has anyone else received such notice recently?
Has anyone received their in-scope notification for wave 2 selection event yet? Houston-based, CTC employee here, and haven’t heard anything yet…
I'd like to know the same?
How are people notified?
Can anybody please tell us how are those affected by today's layoffs being notified?
Also, has everybody who was supposed to be laid off in this round been notified already or can we expect more?
Some people were mentioning that this will spill over into tomorrow and I'm hoping beyond hope they are wrong.
