Nepotism

The CEO recently appointed a seemingly un qualified person as Executive Vice President|This cronyism is a continuation of the same practices from previous administrations and it destroys morale | It seems like the same people keep getting new titles and pay raises and always are in congratulatory emails from the CEO | Does no one else besides these people deserve recognition, promotion & a new title ? | It sounds like not | When is this nepotism going to stop and who will stop it ? | Many of us want recognition, a pay raise, our name in lights, and to be listened to |

IS NEPOTISM ILLEGAL IN THE U.S.?

In the United States, nepotism is not necessarily illegal. However, it can become illegal if it violates anti-discrimination laws or results in the misuse of company resources.

For example, if a company owner hires their spouse for a high-level position, and that person is not qualified for the job, it could be considered illegal. Similarly, if a manager promotes their friend to a position that they are not qualified for, it could be seen as a misuse of company resources.

However, it’s important to note that nepotism at work is not illegal in and of itself. It’s only when it violates other laws or policies that it becomes a problem.

THE CONSEQUENCES OF NEPOTISM IN THE WORKPLACE

While nepotism may not be illegal, it can still have negative consequences for both the company and its employees. Here are a few potential impacts of nepotism in the workplace:

Decreased morale: When employees feel like they are being passed over for opportunities due to nepotism, it can lead to decreased morale and increased turnover. This can be especially true if employees feel like they are being treated unfairly or that their hard work is not being recognized.
Decreased productivity: Nepotism at work can lead to a lack of trust and respect among coworkers. When employees don’t feel like they are being treated fairly, it can lead to decreased motivation and productivity.
Legal consequences: As mentioned earlier, nepotism can become illegal if it violates anti-discrimination laws or results in the misuse of company resources. This can lead to costly legal issues and damage to the company’s reputation.

The Next Bill Flynn

Bill Flynn saved the company. We need another Bill Flynn. Our execution sux. It takes forever for everything & anything. No efficiency. No competency. No urgency. Top brass don't care. Why ? B/C they will collect soon on $2.5M-$3M pensions & sail into the sunset w/no worries. Take away their pensions & who will crawling to daddy and mommy now ? The Board don't care. They collect $200K per year to listen to sugar coated versions of alternate reality. No checks. No balance. No accountability. No care in the world. Crony capitalism. Nepotism. When's the last time any board member had lunch with a rank and file employee ? When have the met in a roundtable setting with employees ? When have they led and attended focus groups of clients ? Never ! Board is not accessible. Not approachable. Doesn't truly care about the company employees or clients because they are silent and invisible.

Locusts, locusts everywhere.....

Been with WF for a looooong time. And I have to say, this is the worst nepotism I've ever seen. Its true. And for those of us who have been around as long as I, we might have gotten one or two back in the day. Soon, they were acclimated to WF and we, the worker bees, never really saw a difference.
Now? Holy cow, they move in, fire existing technical staff, bring in their buddies and replace everyone over a period of time.
I liken it to locusts...they move as a group, strip the ground bare of anything good, then move on to the next green pasture.

Who is Frank Kos*d*

I want to revisit a question someone once posed: Who is/was Frank Kosd??

The rumor is that he was one of Frankservs buddies and got installed as an EVP with next to nothing in experience.

His linkedin confirmed this with really no previous roles listed, which is odd for someone who is an EVP at a major company.

Now I don’t even see him in Workday, and I saw him there as recent as last week…. was he freshly let go as of this week?

I’m surprised he continued for this long after Bisig left… it was always bizzare that he didn’t have any profile pictures anywhere, considering his level with the company.

Can anyone confirm he’s a real person?

Miami Value IT

Although it’s not fully cleaned up yet, it’s good to see a much-needed trim of the older friends and family brought in from the ‘fuel’ era. Hopefully the next rounds address the rest of the dead weight who managed to stay by simply playing politics. Keep up the great work, Mr. New CEO.

Nothing but problems.

I haven’t been here very long, but have had nothing but issues since I started here. The ageism, cronyism, favoritism, nepotism, s-xism is off the charts. Sprinkle in widespread ineffective management who do not give a sh-t about developing out your career if they view you as a challenge…yep, this is corporate he-l. Suggestion for survival is to completely disconnect your identity from what you do here, if you haven’t already. Good luck.

This all leads back to Lowell

Lowell got rid of everybody around here that knew anything he just wanted a bunch of yes men and hatchet men. You could see this coming a mile away when the management catch phrase became" I don't need to know your job to be your manager."They should just find everybody from Massachusetts that is still here in a position of power and ask them "how did you get your job here" ? There is definitely still a serious amount of nepotism around here that is leading to a lot of stagnation.

How much control your leader has when it comes to Rif?

I want to understand how much control a Sr director or above has when it comes to saving their favorites over people who actually work?

I know atleast 5 people in my org who got hired because they are related to so and so leader in one way or another. You can tell how bad they are at their work.
They could not even get hired based on their own capabilities.

NYP-Finally Corwin is Stepping Down

Hopefully this is for the best as I have seen first hand that they are laying off people with years of service to keep their family members hired. Human resources really needs to be investigated for hiding the truth with NDA's and not letting people speak.

What is going on at Appian?

The CRO is hiring all his buddies from his former company and firing or pushing out the tenured RVPs and AEs. The GC mysteriously decides to retire. The weird announcement about MM. Should we all be concerned?? What's the story with TG leaving after 9 years at Appian. Who is taking over the west?

Nepotism at its finest. While we lay off experienced individuals.

The Director/Manager's daughter got hired on making 65K+ as a Business Analyst with a Bachelors Degree in Fashion and no prior health care experience. When normal people don't get looked at unless you have at least 1+ of health care experience. But if you have the right last name and NO experience you can just be handed a job. NO need to work for it.

Oracle laid off lots of managers -is Cisco going to do the same?

https://thefinancestory.com/oracle-fires-3000-employees-after-144bn-cloud-revenue-projection

And then this is saying that for example in Zurich it was mostly managers https://www.linkedin.com/posts/robin-wiethuchter_oracle-fired-most-of-its-managers-and-some-activity-7376369071761752064-npyv

Not sure about other teams but we were recently presented some Digital Delivery s..it that required us to update our own task lists and workload At the same time we were all asked to fill up a skills matrix that AI will use to automatically find people that could work on projects. In his naivity our managers told us that this will, in a first stage go through manual approval. What he missed was that it will require probably 10% of the current number of managers for the same job. This will also curb nepotism, we have people in our team who are favored by managers, they clearly get work above their skills to help them progress and then othe rear licking employees are asked to watch o er and to save their managers' protégé when they can't handle the work assigned to them.

Another round in 18-24 months - never ending!!!!!!!

Heard this from the HR slaves and also people close to functional leadership - there is another round coming within 18-24 months to further reduce “fat” - wow. Better luck next time jumping off this sinking ship of utter gloom and doom. The leadership and managers remaining are all nepo lovers and love the brown nosing incompetent “friends”. More with less. Woohoo!

Lets Look At The Leaders In HSE and ETC

I really mean this folks. Look at our HSE LT. Look at the ETC LT. Can this be more of a joke? We have no professionals left. We have no one that has any substantive amount of time in the field. We just have nepotism, DEI and C-Suite best friends that can't do anything else. There used to be a time where the pedigree meant something. Not anymore. As another poster said, just look at our SIFs. Embarrassing!

The Facts Present Themselves in GB

If you take out the emotion of what the Global Brand leadership is doing, you are left with incompetent people that know nothing about financial services, managing teams in a large corporation and treating their people fairly. These are the facts. It’s quite obvious all of them are in it for themselves. All have worked 3 or less years at a job and continue to fake it to make it. They let amazing talent walk out the door to only bring in their circle of friends and family, no knowledge of our business and continue to have the actual doers train them and then treat us like pions. It’s time for positive change!! How is this allowed??

Conflict of interest?

Serious question — what’s the point of keeping husband-and-wife combos in the same department or even the same company? It always turns messy. Conflicts of interest, favouritism, gossip, and when it goes sour (and it usually does), everyone else has to pick up the fallout.

Plenty of qualified people out there looking for a chance, but instead we’ve got couples playing house on the company dime. Is it really worth the drama?

The New LT rule of 3

  1. America first - Shipment of jobs to the CEO's and CFO's is a conflict of interest.
  2. Eliminate the prior regime's dross - The use of consultants at Waters has wreaked havoc.
  3. Use qualified ppl. for leader roles - Rewarding the LT's cronies has NOT worked out well.

I'm watching the dumpster fire with me popcorn.

The Canadian Network that isn't an entertainment company!

Both ELT and now SLT appear focused on hiring primarily through Rogers Communications’ network of associates - aka, friends.

Simply reshaping the organizational structure will not drive real change that's needed. The company is not functioning as a truly international business, but rather as one directed by individuals whose decisions risk undermining its future while their personal connections receive disproportionate advancement.

Sectarianism which bought down Intel is here

Worked in intel in the early 2010s and I get to see the same thing here in QCOM now. Hiring friends of friends ; friends son. Not sharing information, misleading on purpose.

As in intel , the people who did such practices made it out unscathed.

Examplory Intel 😊 like the old Indian female IT director who had done 13 misconducts (reported against her) .. protected by GM all this time and today promoted to work for IT CTO.

Thirteen hardworking employees who braved it to report her misconducts to senior management. All 13 were stuupid to do so.

Who is cleaning up Intel when cleaners have created most dirt in Intel ?

#CorruptionatIntel #Nepotism #Unethics

Not many people want to work at Cisco. It's not s-xy, nor is it part of the attractive larger companies (Amazon, FB, Google, Netflix, Apple). Even the big telcos (Verizon/ATT) have better focus on delivering software based applications. Not many people looking to keep their skills current think, "I can't wait to build the next router!" And Cisco is still trying to figure out SDN, as they've made TWO acquisitions in this space: Embrane and then Viptela. (Notice that both of those companies were led by former employees from Cisco. #Nepotism.

Retention RSUs

How these get doled out is absurd. I'm in a BU that is about to be shut down and retention RSUs are being handed out. They're going to people "in the know" like middle managers and Project Managers and such but none of the engineers that are actually required to keep the product going are getting them. 100% of the women are getting them for fear of lawsuits (one just returned last week from 6wks of maternity leave). #Nepotism

Yes because Lord Trump hires so many white males to make his f---ing sweaters.....look into his hiring practices. If you spawned from his seed then you may get hired as a white male #Nepotism

Really? #Nepotism is only one problem here - how about managers who cannot and do not want to manage...

This is a shit company to work for, Nepotism rules. Bunch of incompetent people always making the wrong decisions.
