I think many people do not get it - AI will impact many jobs for the simple reason that in the past 30 years we created lots of so-called bullsh-t jobs and many of you are doing them. And AI will ki-l those, but that is ok. Personal assistants, auditors, project managers, Excel monkeys, recruiters, HR, etc. to name a few - all will be gone soon.

I honestly hope they'll end soon.
It is astonishing that Belk expects professional loyalty while their stores literally rot around them.
From water-stained ceilings to predatory workloads, the 'Belk experience' is one of pure misery.
They don't care about your department; they only care about how much labor they can squeeze out of you before you break.
I quit without notice because they earned that lack of courtesy. It’s a dying brand for a dying generation, and the day they finally close their doors will be a mercy to the retail industry. Just go away Belk.
Upcoming Layoffs
Looks like Toledo Refinery is being prepared for layoffs. A number between 20-30 has been suggested. Some individuals have already left although voluntarily. Any idea what groups will be targeted?
Remotes ARE being trageted for layoffs now..
I've posted about this a few times and get downvoted/laughed at but I'm telling you, full remotes are being targeted now. It was only a matter of time... Dell has made it blatantly clear that they want ALL employees local to an office - as in ALL employees go INTO an office - and that remotes are not eligible for promotions or internal movement. Which puts remotes in a literal dead end job. I 100% guarentee they will cap remotes raises to 2% and 50% bonus's sooner than later, as well.
I had my 1x1 w/ my boss/sr director the other day and I asked what the IBP was. He didn't know for sure but, mentioned he laid off a few people (3) under him and saw the bonus payout for them - which was 100% - but, stated that they were all remotes and that was the primary driving factor for laying them off.
According to what he told me, those 3 were good at their job but was told by higher ups and/or HR to remove 3 remotes that reported to him. I didn't know any of them as they weren't on my team but, long story short.. .they were laid off for being remote.
We have a great relationship with each other so I asked out of curiosity if remotes are being targeted more for layoffs. He didn't say yes or no but in a round about way basically said that yes they are, and has heard from execs that the "plan" is to reduce raises and bonus's for them next year. Basically an attempt to force resignation. Exceptions will likely be made for those who are incredibly vital to an org but otherwise, the plan is to slowly get rid of remotes.
If you are full remote but live near enough to an office, I'd recommend switching your sh-t to in office versus remote... Make the drive or relocate if you value your job because remotes are the ones who will be first to go on teams when layoffs happen.
More layoffs
Well here come more layoffs! Anyone have details about Service?
Atleos capitulates to reality, too bad about Voyix
It says all you need to know that, according to the release, the only Atleos exec or offficer being retained is one independent director.
At least Atleos had an option — because that is more than can be said for Voyix, which managed to transition to a software company right when the market gave up on software. Jim Kelly had no doubt been aiming to sell to Global Payments, but that company’s in the toilet too. (The market has given up on any payment companies that isn’t visa or Mastercard.)
The best option for Voyix is probably to go private, because there is no buyer at this point.
NCR should’ve been broken up 15 years ago, when there were buyers for its businesses.
Id--t Hill needs to go
Id--t Hill inherited Nike when the stock price was $85 and in a span of 1.5 years revenues have declined, margin down by 27%, stock in the dumps. He could have achieved this even without the layoffs.
What exactly have layoffs achieved? He didn't even have the ba--s to add Nike to tariff suit.
The pattern is repeating now, at the rest of the company braces for next round of layoffs with even a reduced severance.
Block Cuts 4,000 Jobs
Block’s layoff news today is pretty fascinating.
Jack Dorsey just cut nearly half the company — over 4,000 employees. Headcount goes from 10k+ to under 6k.
Stock? Up 25% in a day.
And here’s the interesting part:
They’re not losing money. Q4 earnings beat expectations.
The reason given:
“AI and intelligent tools are fundamentally changing how companies are built and how work gets done.”
That feels like a real regime shift.
For the last decade, growth meant hiring.
Now growth might mean replacing org charts with AI leverage.
What makes it ironic is that Dorsey, as Twitter’s co-founder, left behind a famously bloated structure.
When Elon Musk took over, he cut roughly 80% of staff — about 6,000 people — and the platform kept running.
History has a sense of humor.
If fintech is cutting this aggressively in the name of AI efficiency, does that mean traditional big banks will accelerate layoffs too?
Feels like we’re entering the era of “AI + ruthless efficiency.”
Curious how durable this model really is.
Global Tech Layoffs: Rumors and Facts
- They'll be global
- US layoffs to be executed in Q4. Other regions usually take longer for legal reasons.
- Exact US timing likely to be around 3/20 earnings. I heard people say both before and after.
- PHK teams with members in ITC or PTC are likely to be fully outsources (MG spoke of this).
- Management to be flattened. Expect fewer directors with more direct reports.
- Nike is expanding the ITC office.
- Outsourcing part of the mix.
What else?
CDW Can't Keep Top Talent
I knew a phenomenal engineer who was in Managed Services. He was a CCIE, multiple firewall certs, cloud experience, you name it, and every customer we mutually worked with always praised him. According to him, management ignored his promotion inquiries so he jumped ship to another company making 40% more and I followed his example.
Maybe CDW only wants average talent?
Severance Question
Two questions about severance, US based. Assume your current position is being eliminated and you would be normally eligible for a special severance.
1) If you apply for a job, realize you do not want it and get an offer, do you forfeit severance?
2) If you apply for a job, realize you do not want it and withdraw your application before getting an offer, do you forfeit severance?
I think you forfeit it on 1, since an offer was extended, but I am not sure about 2, since no offer was extended.
Layoffs Next Month
Everyone get ready, it's supposed to be a big one, I heard it from my LL6 who's husband works in Finance.
AI to displace 4000 workers (40%) at Block - Holy cr-p
I'm not sure that AI washing can really explain this at this point. Seems extreme. Will this be another klarna moment where they are calling people back in 3 months?

Jack Dorsey’s Block to Lay Off 40% of Its Workforce in AI Remake
Parent of Square and Cash App says intelligence tools have changed how to run a company

Block XYZ 4.99%increase; green up pointing triangle, the payments company founded by Jack Dorsey that includes Square and Cash App, said Thursday that it plans to lay off 40% of its workforce, or more than 4,000 employees.
Dorsey alluded to artificial-intelligence tools as the reason for the cuts in a letter to shareholders.
“The core thesis is simple,” wrote Dorsey. “Intelligence tools have changed what it means to build and run a company.”
The company said the plan would cost it $450 million to $500 million in expenses and severance. Shares rallied more than 20% in after-hours trading.
Big companies have already been laying off thousands of white collar workers over the past year, in some cases pointing to increased efficiency created by AI. Salesforce cut roughly 4,000 customer-support roles last year because of AI advancements. Pinterest, meanwhile, has said it is laying off nearly 15% of its workforce as part of a plan to focus more of the company’s resources on AI-related roles.
And the fear AI would shrink jobs and replace the functions of whole companies sparked a market rout earlier this week after a research report imaged a dystopian future for the U.S. economy.
Analysts and economists have pushed back against the scenarios laid out in the report, but Block’s drastic job cuts will likely stoke up those fears.
The company said most of the layoffs would occur in the first quarter of this year and be completed by the second quarter.
“I don’t think we’re early to this realization. I think most companies are late,” Dorsey wrote. “Within the next year, I believe the majority of companies will reach the same conclusion and make similar structural changes.”

New low-oh-oh-oh oh-oh (NKOTB jingle). Wow, we're really sinking, gang. How long do y'all think we will circle the drain until we're under a buck? Will the savings from the layoffs keep our heads above water in Q2? I'm in the weeds trying to keep up the work of three as is. Time to update that resume.
Just a concerned parent speaking up
Laying off 400 people would be catastrophic. And can we stop pretending support staff aren't every bit as essential as teachers to our kids' success? As a parent of two, I'm furious and terrified about the fallout. I also feel deeply for every family these cuts will directly hit. It's an absolute shame.
Micromanaging me into madness
New manager won't get off my back. I'm good at what I do, yet I'm constantly interrupted and second-guessed. They're relentless, especially with me. No clue if this is just bad management or if I'm being set up for cuts. As if I don't have enough stress already.
Anyone have today's tally?
Nothing going on where I am. Based on the little info trickling in, seems like quiet layoffs this time. Not minimizing how awful it is for anyone impacted, just saying this round feels completely different from the last ones.
NYC ?????
It's been scary quiet regarding layoff impact in NYC. Anyone care to share any insight into the matter?
Is this true about 2/28?
What they didn't tell everyone is that 50% of the Alternate work force is also being let go on Friday 2/28. The real black Friday. eBay hurting and families will be hurting. This is not due to AI, but poor management.

Raise the bar Orlando Kickoff Trip
Who is ready to show, blow everyone senseless, and get laid off in 3 months? Just put that money towards our salaries.
Don’t buy Intel stuffs
Employees are in layoff scare times so they cannot make any good products. Better to stay away from it.
Stop spreading rumors.
No end of month RIF notifications. So stop spreading unfounded rumors. Listened to the Joe Russo leadership call and no big news on layoffs. Stop spreading unfounded rumors.
Many Layoffs Today
Several across RA&S, GRS, and Health value streams in Canada.
Lay offs
Total insensitivity for those that have been part of the many layoffs. Metrics are almost impossible to meet and performance reviews are calculated so unfairly. Not the company everyone used to know. Associates are crying, frustrated and disappointed in how the way they make their lives are being handled. SO SAD.
Feb 26 Layoffs
Which groups have gotten layoffs this week? And no internal announcement yet, what's the deal ? Now called Fewer Coworker February since Fast Start Feb clearly didn't work
AIP notice was supposed to be today, or not?
I guess I thought we would hear something today. If it is decent, I also find that a bit odd given all the layoffs underway this year.
You are a number, remember that. They don't care. They never did.
Once certian projects are finished they will lay off the rest of that department and let L T I take over. Congrulations on working yourself out of a job. HR will mostly be replaced by a computer. Get used to talking to a machine.
Middle management will be gutted.
They won't be needed since LTI has their own management in place. Projects will be downsized further and support groups dismantled and/or gone. Operations you aren't safe. They are looking at you. Anyone who is of retirement age will be next. If you have several complaints in your file you will also be gone. There won't be anyone left at cpchem except for a few in corporate.
Goldman Sachs warns that accelerating AI adoption could raise US unemployment...
- Major firms announcing AI linked job cuts include Nike, Amazon, Meta, Dow, HP, Allianz, Telstra, WiseTech, Pinterest, Autodesk, MercadoLibre, SEB, British American Tobacco, and Agora.
Goldman Sachs warns that accelerating AI adoption could raise US unemployment, estimating AI caused 5,000 to 10,000 monthly net job losses in highly exposed industries last year and accounted for 7% of planned layoffs in January.
Companies across sectors including technology, finance, manufacturing, telecoms, and consumer goods are restructuring to prioritize AI, automation, and digital transformation.
Workforce reductions range from hundreds to several thousand roles, with some companies cutting up to one third of staff as they redirect investment toward AI systems, cloud platforms, and efficiency programs.
The trend signals a broader shift in corporate strategy, as businesses reallocate capital toward AI driven productivity gains, raising concerns among investors and economists about structural labor market disruption.

New Hampshire Bill Links Hospital Pay to Layoffs
A New Hampshire bill proposes freezing executive pay at Coos County hospitals. This freeze would occur if hospitals lay off 10 or more workers in a department. State Senator David Rochefort introduced the bill, citing accountability for Medicaid funds. North County Healthcare, which operates the hospitals, opposes the legislation. They argue the bill removes local control and could negatively impact healthcare.

Has Verizon lost its mojo?
I’m shocked how lethargic and resigned so many colleagues are to being laid off…once Verizon was a company to be proud of but right now? It’s a sad situation that employees feel so disconnected from the company
Estee Lauder Cuts 68 Jobs at Minnesota Aveda Site
Estee Lauder is laying off 68 employees at its Blaine facility. These cuts affect the distribution and warehouse operation. The layoffs are permanent and will occur between April and June. Affected positions include warehouse and order processing associates. This action is part of a larger company restructuring plan.

No growth, no security, no point
You get stuck in your role here with no real path forward. Management doesn't care what you contribute. Strong reviews and extra effort mean nothing when they decide you cost too much. The layoffs come for everyone eventually. Only come here if you have absolutely no other choice.
Concerto Biosciences layoffs
No number out, but cuts have been reported.

Major layoffs incoming
I know it'll happen over three years, but getting rid of over 3k people is an overkill, in my opinion. This will affect the company in ways the leadership apparently is incapable of envisioning. I'm just wondering what'll happen when they realize that institutional knowledge is key in our work.
Corporate layoffs
I expected store closings, but I have to admit I was hoping corporate would be spared. Still, with the state of Pap Johns right now, it shouldn't be surprising to anybody. I'm just worried that this might be the start of something much bigger. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Always having to worry about layoffs is exhausting
It's a wonder any of us can get any work done. It's unhealthy and ki-ls morale. If we had better leadership, they'd realize they're destroying the entire company like this.
