Oracle isn’t going to do more with less

Oracle isn’t going to do more with less when their competition is doing more with more.

Everyone has AI agents now. You will only weaken your position if you lay people off and lean into those agents. Your competition doesn’t have to follow the same logic. Your competition will do more with more. Anything you do with less will lose footing.

That’s not even including smaller companies competing with Oracle now that they have AI agents. The drive for more software will increase with AI agents. Even more players are going to want a slice of that market share.

What to do?

I am anticipating my time to relocate (not sure where) might come anytime. My product has a lifecycle of a few years, but many of team members have relocated and many experienced leaders retired due to age and RTO. My motivation to work is low and minimal human interaction is gutting me.

Should I relocate and hope to switch projects? My spouse is under stressful situations at work too with tons of work and wants to quit if I relocate or become stable somewhere.

I am unable to find work outside T due to various factors (skill gap, unfair RTO demands)

If I relocate,,we will take a major financial hit. What to do? Leap of faith of faith RTO or should I quit?

What Cisco (and other companies) do not want you to realize

The abuse, pressure and threats of layoffs are intended to keep you locked into a victim mentality.

They don't want you to realize that in most cases, software services you work on can now be vide-coded and released as competition or simply given away. A lot of this stuff just implements well-known standards or is otherwise not protected through IP law or non-competes. You are still locked into a mindset that because this software was hard to produce five years ago, it is hard to produce now. It isn't.

If you were to suggest Codex or Claude vibe-rewriting bitrotted Cisco tech-debt code, most of your coworkers would sneer and ignore you, and management would put you on "a list". But right now, this is actually something that can be done. If it can be done now, what will the world be like in six months, a year?

Cisco wants you to think using AI is only something you can do in service to them, not yourself.

Get ready, other people in this world are not locked in to your victim psychology.

Anyone seeing layoffs instead of transfers for FS and Pharmacy employees at closing stores?

At an Oregon CVS pharmacy where we were told we would have no issue keeping our jobs if the store closed. When it was announced, RxDL and FSDL both told respective staffs no one would lose their job. But due to market acquisition of Rite Aid stores, we have too many people (supposedly) and now we are being threatened with layoffs. Anyone seeing this in their area too?

XOM is about to implode

Yes, time is coming and we are about to implode with all the multiple organizational changes that add no value apart from headcount reduction and the downstreamers managing upstream like a refinery and ki-ling it long term. Expect more safety incidents, more process safety events and more blame on the employees for not following procedures (even though nobody knows what they are anymore). The attrition is rising and we are in a downward vicious circle now.

Cigna to lay off 2,000 workers worldwide (worldwide?)

Healthcaredice.com posted an article about Cigna’s recent announcement of cuts that affects worldwide employees…yeah right. Meanwhile, they’re actively hiring EMPLOYEES in India.

• Cigna plans to lay off roughly 2,000 employees, just under 3% of the company’s workforce, to cut costs by the end of February.

Speak with your Congressional Representative, I have. They will be looking at this. The number of jobs leaving America is egregious. What economic path will our children have?

L3 Harris infested with Russian spies

It looks like the FBI caught a manager at L3 Harris selling secrets to a Russian broker. This is one reason why there’s layoffs, some people at the company can’t keep secrets because they are overwhelmed by greed.
They didn’t catch everyone yet, and it is still an ongoing investigation. Maybe if the FBI catches everyone there won’t be any need for more layoffs in that section as it will be reduced enough.
The whole company needs a complete government security review.

It's our turn

After watching most major auto companies slash jobs, it was probably naive to think we’d avoid it. But 20 percent is steep. I guess we’ll see how it unfolds, though cutting staff to make up for tariff losses feels like the easy answer, not the right one.

If they were not safe, then none of us are

Three of Los Angeles’ longest-serving TV anchors were abruptly laid off Wednesday as corporate owner Nexstar slashed jobs at KTLA.

The cuts included longtime weekday morning meteorologist Mark Kriski and veteran midday anchors Glen Walker and Lu Parker, along with weathercaster Kacey Montoya and reporter Ellina Abovian, according to NewscastStudio.

The layoffs are part of a broader restructuring at Nexstar Media Group stations in Los Angeles and New York.

Would you prefer to be laid off?

I see some people mention they'd love to be laid off, but I'm certainly not among them. Not when jobs are this hard to come by. I'd rather suffer through a bad workplace than unemployment. But apparently, some feel the opposite. And I'm just wondering, how many of you are there?

Thank you now leave

I mean sure thank the folks you let go... Who are not able to join the meeting... Who aren't give the opportunity to retrain... Who get to enter one the harder labor markets.... Take it from these well paid folks who are getting bonuses during such strong business singles thanks...
