S&D and Assignments
Anyone work in S&D who can reveal what the wizard of oz is actually doing behind the curtain? How does it actually work? If I find a job that I am qualified for and the team wants me to join can S&D prevent it from happening?
Got up this morning.......
Got up this morning, went for a walk – logged on to see if there were any replies to my employment applications. None. Been doing this almost everyday mon-fri for coming up to two years since my RIF from F5.
Found two more software engineer/developer openings so crafted an application for the first and sent it. Started crafting the second application and stopped. Why am I doing this? With the state of software development as it is, when all you have to do is pay $1000 to $3000 for a 1 to 3 day course to get guaranteed certification of Expert or Black Belt level, it trivializes what software engineering is. I choose not to be a part of the game anymore. I’m giving up seeking new employment and will let it find me if the software gods so choose.
There was a time early on where software development required being a craftsman and artisan. I was working at a company that was in the first 100 that applied and received its domain registration in the 1980s. Those were good and exciting times. You were a part of something greater. Bugs/Errors/Failures as a result of your work were not an option. If something did come up, that became the first priority to solve (that day). The customer needed to trust you. That doesn’t exist anymore. F5 (as well as other corporations) willingly and routinely release software that has multiple serious issues. Big IP Next is a prime example. Development methods of Agile, Scrum, and SAFe were adopted that have no engineering validity to being used, but they are used anyway.
There are likely hundreds of reasons why I should continue seeking employment – all likely are valid. I choose to be the craftsman/artisan and that type of position will have to find me. If it doesn’t so be it.
Stop telling people to quit
A lot of folks say to just quit if we don't like it here, but that’s not realistic for everyone. IT jobs aren’t falling off trees right now, and we'd be competing with a lot of people, especially those of us mid-career or older. Best thing we can do is land something first, and that takes months, if it happens at all. So no, I won't quit for now.
I wish there was a better place as an alternative
What really gets me is that the entire f*g industry is in shambles. Everyone is laying off, restructuring, and slashing costs. In times like this, taking the voluntary option feels risky, and getting cut is even worse, because where are you supposed to find a new job?
Be grateful you have a job
Just imagine being laid off and having to deal with a job market that's incredibly hostile to employees. Yes, Chevron su-ks. It's not the company it once was. Working here is far from great. But at least you're working. A former coworker who was laid off more than six months ago is still unemployed. He'd trade any of you without thinking.
Does USAA hire any data engineers/analysts who dont need sponsorship? All I see if H1B sponsored internal hires ?
There have been hardly any senior or lead positions open in the data space. Even if something is posted, looks like they are mostly labor filing related openings and you get a response back that you do not meet the expectations. No calls no nothing but just a rejection. This all seems to be internal referrals and 3P conversions or referrals taking up the roles or is it true that there is no need for data related roles at USAA. What's the deal?
If there were any real options out there
I’d be gone in a heartbeat. But the job market is a nightmare, and that’s the only reason so many of us are losing sleep over the threat of layoffs at a company hardly anyone actually wants to work for. In any other circumstances, leaving this company in the rearview mirror would only be a good thing.
Not surprised, just moving on
We were doing really well at Ansys, and we came in here with very competent people. But I always expected it wouldn’t matter. I started preparing my exit as soon as the first acquisition rumors surfaced, and now I’m negotiating a move to another job. Hopefully it works out. If the timing lines up with being laid off here, even better. If not, I’ll resign and move on. Why fight to stay at a company that doesn’t recognize value or know how to manage experience, skills, and proven results?
Not looking pretty out there for job seekers
With over 20 years experience in contracting and network management, recently at a senior level, I’m not getting the time of day by other employers. It’s a bunch of thanks but no thanks. I did get an offer to apply as a pharmacy tech at CVS for $16/hr though - so that’s promising. 😉
Word of caution, hang on to what you have until you have somewhere else to go. I know it’s hard, and the corporate su-k is su-king hard, but if you are not financially independent it’s going to really rough for awhile.
More Layoffs and Grandstanding by CEO Christa Quarles - Keep CV current
Layoffs have continues across 2025 along with DEI grandstanding on the part of Christa Quarles and more reorgs:
- Sr. Directors across the org has been laid-off that one were the product directors
- More people from Marketing have are gone
- Engineers across the company based on tenor or so-called no culture fit for those in Mauritius
- Michelle Chiantera is no longer the CRO/CFO, she is now back to the CRO
- Waiting to see if Jason Royer SVP Finance will land the CFO title that was held by Jeff Byal, then given to Michelle Chiantera and taken away.
Since Christa started at Corel she has gaslighted everything and everyone. She was all about DEI except it's just talk. She is all about finding the right public opportunities with the aim of crafting a savvy persona. While she managed to cozy up for a photo-op with Martin Luther King III, it's pretty clear she has no interest in MKL's legacy. Brown American employees don't last and she only connects to brown people that have a c-level title. Try volunteering with an organization that is actually helping people with families like those you've laid off or go visit the National Civil Rights Museum rather than so-called volunteering at some Marketing (=more money). place.
Yes, more layoffs and consolidation to come. If you have performed your job and matured your practice, you will not last at Alludo. Your job will be given to someone else.
Keep your resume up-to-date.
Whatever the deal turns out to be, we’ll be sc--wed
It’s not like any of this will benefit us. Layoffs will keep coming, and who knows how this will play out for Intel overall. I’m not stopping my job search, and the moment I find something even remotely acceptable, I’m pulling the plug here.
Anyone got lucky and landed a job offer?
I’ve been grinding on the job search for months and nothing. I guess the market really is what everyone says - a black hole where resumes go to die. And what’s with all the fake postings? Why even bother? Just to je-k us around like it’s some kind of game? I’m getting desperate, slowly realizing there’s no real alternative to this horrible place, at least for now.
Holy cr-p, I finally got an interview!
After months of sending apps into the void, it finally happened. I admit, I nearly screamed when I saw it. It’s wild how one email can suddenly make you feel like you’ve got a shot again. I know it doesn't mean I'll get the job, but it's better than just getting silence for months and months.
As a woman…
The post pandemic work life at the firm has made me seriously consider leaving the workforce completely. “Support” being a new buzzword with zero meaning is the base of the new culture.
So many people keep talking about how other companies are worse, so I kind of don’t want to take my chances.
Tech Ops Laid Off - Where Did You End Up?
For those that worked in Technology Operations and were laid off, can you share where you landed if you were able to find something, or the industry you moved to? Feeling like my days are numbered, so keeping my eyes peeled for opportunities.
New Opportunities
is there any particular company that anyone is aware of that typically hires a lot of FIS employees? Something similar to black knight for example.
Have you started applying?
I have no intention of waiting for the last moment and then competing with everyone else who’s been laid off for the few jobs that’ll be left. Yes, I won’t get severance if I leave on my own, but frankly, I’d rather have a job than some money and the uncertainty of finding something else.
just stop seeking Tech Jobs in India. It is not worth the time and money spent acquiring short shelf life skills

I regret working for Oracle!!!!
What was the point of working hard, getting a good review, caring about your customers, and adding value, only to be let go while performing better than others?
Totally absurd, thank you Oracle I can move to something better.
Well, Chevron has achieved the impossible
I hate it here so much that job hunting actually feels like relief instead of a chore. It takes a lot for that to be true for a procrastinator like me.
Job market
Is it really as bad as people are saying? I've been looking for the past few days and there are plenty of good positions available, which confused me. Are these real or are they just placeholders?
How many Shell folks in IT regularly do Leetcode and study system design?
Anyone in Shell doing it to find their next IT role?
Leetcode = website that allows practice of algorithm like programming questions.
System design = close view of how major companies run large systems.
Exit dates for those LR’ed in USA, Canada and EMEA & the job market
I believe exit dates are two months in USA, and a month in Canada from notification date of August 14. Could someone confirm please, along with the package details? Are packages similar across the geographical area? How does it work in EMEA?
Are people able to find new jobs, hearing it’s a tough market out for anyone looking for a job. Next layoffs are around the corner in Feb 2026, so hang tight.
How many of you are actively interviewing?
Everybody I know is. I wonder if it's just my team or a larger thing.
Why are you still here?
Knowing what's coming, seeing the state of Intel, why are you still here? Do you think you're safe? Personally, I'm here because I haven't been able to land anything good so far, but I've been trying to leave for nearly a year. As soon as I do, I'll be gone and never think about this place again.
Dreading Monday
I don't think I've ever dreaded Mondays as much as in the past few weeks. With everything that's been happening, just thinking about work gives me anxiety. I think I need a new job.
Massive round of layoffs coming
Heard from multiple reliable sources who make the calls......This will be the biggest one the company has ever had.....it is confirmed. Nobody knows about "when". It will include everyone from every department, every project, no matter the seniority. Even VPs won't be spared. Junior or Senior, it doesn't matter. Could be as soon as mid September or it could be 2 months from now. Stop the work and start looking for a new job RIGHT NOW. Good luck everyone.
If you're planning to quit, don't rush it
I handed in my resignation, and I can’t stop wishing I had done it differently. I wanted to get out as fast as possible, but I didn’t do my due diligence, and now I’m in a far-from-ideal position. Looking back, I think I would have waited for a better offer or prepared more carefully before making the leap. It’s a tough lesson learned the hard way.
Is anybody getting interviews?
I don’t even know how many applications I’ve sent out so far, and all I’m getting is crickets.
With so many layoffs, spend your free time wisely
I’m investing in my own skills because clearly no one else is going to. I feel like this place is intentionally pigeonholing us into positions so we don’t have too many options to leave unless they’re the ones to kick us out. Anyhow, if there ever was a time to start expanding your skills people, it’s now.
Landed a job within a month of trying
The job market isn’t as bad as everyone’s been saying. Or maybe it was and it scared people off from applying, and now there are plenty of opportunities again. I don’t know for sure. What I do know is that I had several interviews lined up right away, and within a month I got a good offer. The pay’s about the same, but I get better benefits and, more importantly, the culture seems so much better than Humana. Go and apply, folks. You’ve got nothing to lose and a lot to gain.
How many layoffs do we need?
We have had cuts after cuts after cuts in the last few years. Nobody can convince me any of it is necessary. It's all about greed and we're the ones paying the price. I'm already looking for another job at a company that has actual job security - something we used to have once upon a time.
The job market is brutal right now
Has anybody been able to land a new job? I'd be happy with the second round of interviews at this point.
Any idea how many people might actually end up being impacted?
I mean, after the voluntary exits are counted. I’m honestly worried about the possibility of losing my job. I’ve been casually looking at what’s out there, but the market keeps looking tougher and tougher. Finding something new, or even managing the gap between jobs, feels almost impossible right now. I’m anxious that a lot of us could still end up on the chopping block.
Be vigilant
Each day it more and more reminds Squid Game. I am happy that I left it before this sick olympic cut game started. Remember to refresh your resume, plan updating your skills (there are many trainings online), do not ignore mental issue signs (burnout is a really a huge problem). I keep my fingers and thumbs.
How long after a round of interviews before you hear back?
Pass the screen, go for the round of interviews, how long before you hear something? Same Day? Couple days? Week? Do rejections come immediately while silence means a possible offer? Or is it the opposite, if they are interested you get an offer right away, and silence just means they aren't interested? What's the norm these days on the interview circuit?
Who else has a countdown to November 1st
I started one on my phone to motivate me to find a new job. No leads yet though. I cannot go a month without a job financially.
Interviews?
Has anyone started interviewing for positions in HPE yet? Sounds like we'll need to interview for new jobs within HPE.
