The Greater Roanoke Workforce Development Board is organizing hiring events. These events will assist workers affected by upcoming layoffs at Yokohama Tire's Salem plant. The tire manufacturer plans phased layoffs over several months. A potential plant closure is expected in early fall. The first wave on March 18 will affect about 392 employees.

After layoffs, cyber is hiring over 47 positions mostly managers

Avoid middle-layer vendors, as they often lead to unnecessary hiring. Direct hiring from VZ to the employer is a better strategy and helps reduce the risk of layoffs.

I just don’t see why I should be supportive of a foreigner taking the place of an American candidate that is equally or more qualified, speaks the language, and won’t result in brain drain after a few years. These entitled early career applicants are students with no experience other than symbolic “internships” where they were told they are the center of the universe. We pay them a premium but they are worse than AI. At least AI can follow directions.

• U.S. employers announced 108,435 layoffs for the month, up 118% from the same period a year ago and 205% from December 2025. The total marked the highest for any January since 2009.
• At the same time, companies announced just 5,306 new hires, also the lowest January since 2009, which is when Challenger, Gray & Christmas began tracking such data.
• Also, job openings fell sharply in December to 6.54 million, to their lowest since September 2020. Available jobs are down by more than 900,000 just since October.

Washington state hiring managers are all corrupt. The majority of Washington state jobs that are announced first get offered to current "well connected" state employee's family members and close friends. You may be contacted and asked to do an interview, in which you think you got a chance at the job, but you don't. You are really being used as a suc_ker to meet the minimum number of interviews the State hiring manager is required to do. It's still a waste of your time unless you are connected, because the Washington state hiring managers have already chosen a family member or close friend and quietly offered the job to them before they even contact you asking you do an interview. So, consider all Washington state jobs posted as a sham and don't waste your time applying.

The hiring managers team is going through a reorganization, will be the headcount for the role I applied still available in your experience? Completed the final interview a while ago. The recruiter mentioned that they are still waiting for the decision.

I want to let you know that we're making additional organizational changes across Amazon that will impact some of our teammates. I recognize this is difficult news, which is why I’m sharing what’s happening and why.
As I shared in October, we've been working to strengthen our organization by reducing layers, increasing ownership, and removing bureaucracy. While many teams finalized their organizational changes in October, other teams did not complete that work until now.
The reductions we are making today will impact approximately 16,000 roles across Amazon, and we're again working hard to support everyone whose role is impacted. That starts with offering most US-based employees 90 days to look for a new role internally (timing will vary internationally based on local and country level requirements). Then, for teammates who are unable to find a new role at Amazon or who choose not to look for one, we'll provide transition support including severance pay, outplacement services, health insurance benefits (as applicable), and more.
While we’re making these changes, we’ll also continue hiring and investing in strategic areas and functions that are critical to our future. We’re still in the early stages of building every one of our businesses and there’s significant opportunity ahead.
Some of you might ask if this is the beginning of a new rhythm – where we announce broad reductions every few months. That’s not our plan. But just as we always have, every team will continue to evaluate the ownership, speed, and capacity to invent for customers, and make adjustments as appropriate. That’s never been more important than it is today in a world that’s changing faster than ever.

Did anyone see the newsletter yesterday? Out of 60+ New hires, only 7 are not Indian? This is ridiculous already. The majority of those hired are in India and the ones in the US are mostly Indian. Do we really not have enough American workers to fill these jobs?

What do we think is going to happen with existing HBAs? For instance, I heard over 50% of the home office are HBA. I think it would be incredibly difficult to bring everyone back and hire the needed talent primarily out of St. Louis and Tempe. But I’m wondering what your guys thoughts are?

Heavy reliance on personal networks for hiring (often relatives/friends from India via H-1B/transfers) → opportunities stay within tight groups.
Frequent non-English communication (Hindi, Telugu, Tamil) in teams → harder for others to participate fully.
Some regional cliques/tensions (North vs. South Indian) → minor friction in team dynamics.
Manager concentration in NC (Raleigh-Durham) and Boston → Westlake (TX) employees feel work gets less recognition, with favoritism toward co-located East teams (“out of sight, out of mind”).
A few ex-Infosys/TCS folks bring limited knowledge-sharing habits → siloed work, reduced collaboration, and poorer team culture in affected groups.
