There is life outside of Verizon

I was a senior manager and was severed in late 2023. We were given like 3 months notice which was awkward. The worry, anxiety, feeling of being a failure was very overwhelming. The job market had changed dramatically since 2011 and I found it very frustrating to apply over and over to jobs I was 100% qualified for to not even get an interview. I made getting a job my job, worked at it 8 hours a day. It took 3 months before I landed a job....and it was an amazing job. 2 years later and things are still amazing. Way better pay, better work life balance, and they really value my abilities and skills. Verizon trains very well, and remember that you bring alot to the table that is very attractive to employers. Leaving Verizon does not mean lower pay. Being somewhere were you are more than just a number is refreshing. Not being at Verizon anymore is refreshing. Hang in there folks, you got this!

Lau Org 2025 Employee Satisfaction Survey

Results received by Kevin, Stef & Senthil and they couldn’t be worse. Some of the worst / lowest in years.

They are trying to sweep them under the rug and write them off as people are always upset during times of change.

Kevin & Senthil called out repeatedly in comments for little to no ability to lead, motivate, communicate, arrogance, condescending behavior, etc….

They are trying their hardest to not share these results with the teams / larger organization.

If they aren’t held accountable we should stage a walkout fur a day to get CC attention.

Does anyone in Fire or Auto claims even care?

This place is a total sh-t hole. My sister works in Fire and hates her job and I'm in Total Loss and it is a complete disaster. It's not my Team Manager but his my crazy SM and CM that cause constant chaos. My poor TM looks like a scolded dog every day and tries not to take it out on us but really has no choice. This place has become so d-mbed down it's almost impossible to even have an intelligent conversation with most people. Clown show all over. I feel almost dirty when I sign off every day.

Cengage has become the joke of the industry

Cengage has gone so far down hill in my 15 years with the company. I used to feel like they actually cared about their employees. I am no longer proud to work here. Why are we not paying a livable wage? Why are we expecting so much out of people who make equal to someone making your fast food order?
What happened to company picnics and showing appreciation to your employees during the busiest time of year? WHY ARE ELEVATE POINTS SO HARD TO GET??? Then when you do get some the amount is just offensive. Cengage eliminated some very important roles and everyone left after is expected to just stay positive and figure it out. What happened to white glove service? Why is there no support or true leadership for the employees? PAY US MORE. stop eliminating roles just to bring people back with a new title and less pay. The customer support over seas is not working either. Bring the jobs back to the US. This company is just getting worse and worse by the day.

Quiet quit

That’s what I plan to do from now on. I’ll give back exactly what I’m given in return. They’ve shown us how little they think of us, so why should I bother giving it my all anymore? My best effort will be reserved for my next company, hopefully one that treats its employees better.

FROM ALL THE MOMS!

You want to know why so many working moms are drowning? Because we live in a world that says “take care of your babies first”… but also, “make sure you’re bringing home a paycheck”. So we get up, clock in, and make sure our kids have somewhere safe to go while we work. But let me tell you something, this world wasn’t built for us. Work is 8-5, but school runs 7:45-2:45. The pediatrician closes at 4. The dentist isn’t open on weekends. Bedtime is at 8, but practice doesn’t end until 7. By the time dinner is made, the house is clean, homework is checked, and a dozen other things no one even notices are done. Then it hits, there was barely anytime with the kids today. So when you ask the mom at work how she’s doing and she says “I’m fine” just know, she’s probably not. She’s exhausted, stretched too thin, and missing the people she’s working so hard for.

SO FU-K YOU & ALL THE MEN THAT THINK WE ARE SKATING BY!!!

We get paid less than you!
We do more than you every single day!

Flextime was the only way we could slightly achieve it all.

Good Bye F5

I liked to say it was a good experience - it wasn't.

I'd liked to say that we helped each other thrive - we didn't

I'd like to say that F5 puts out new and innovative products - they don't

I'd like to say that F5 puts out quality products - it doesn't

I'd like to say that customer issues were resolved - they weren't.

I'd like to say that the customer was treated right - they weren't.

I'd like to say that the executive staff members are leaders - they aren't.

I'd like to say that I will recover from having worked at F5 - I can only hope.

Dan Schulman is stepping in as Verizon’s new CEO. At PayPal he built a reputation for being employee-centric, even raising wages and improving benefits for frontline staff. He talks about purpose and fairness, not just profit. Is this the turning of the page for Verizon?

Living the well life

Corporate Communications sent an email to our location today asking for us to send in submissions about how we’re living the WELL life at Wells Fargo.

Really? You ask this now?

Even if you think those of us upset about the 8 hour thing are being whiny, you have to admit that sending out something asking us for a testimonial about the great Wells Fargo RIGHT NOW is pretty laughable.

Interesting that Dell was named as a top 3 places to work, renectly...

I have NO idea who took this survey or who they asked, or how many people they even asked but...

Those Tell Dell results were pretty horrible and I highly doubt most people would ever "recomend" dell as a good company to work for. Maybe 10 years ago but absolutely not anymore.

I've worked on PQC and QKD intiatives....and it doesn't matter!

Wow! what can I say? No matter what one works on, the only thing that matters is how the second layer L8 thinks of one! Yep, one could be a rocket scientist, but unless one is connected, guess what......NOPE. You are just not the "right fit".
Last time I checked, the ones who could master the technology were kings. It would seem that L8 wants to limit competition to those they can control.
In this case, I feel L8 needs to su-k it up, and go with the flow. But what do I know????

Sports and Concert Sponsorships

In the spirit of cost cutting, why are we still funding extravagant sports and concert boxes for our leaders? A whole crew of junior female managers and their daughters at Toyota Center for today’s concert. I guess us plebes pay while others get the spoils from our fallen colleagues.

I'm so over this place

This last round of layoffs broke something in me. I’ve been running on fumes for months, taking on double the work, and it’s obvious leadership couldn’t care less. You treat people like a spreadsheet and then act surprised when they stop caring? Please.

Morale could not be lower…

My relief of still having a j-o-b has worn off and reality has set in. If CVX was trying to be forward thinking in any capacity, they’ve failed miserably. This model won’t attract (or retain) top talent. Who signs up for a culture that lacks flexibility, provides minimal promotion opportunities, limited resources, and maximum workload? Certainly not the kind of people Chevron will need to stay competitive. This reorg is a joke. This isn’t about not being able to work remotely (solely). My primary complaint is that legacy CVX professionals have been placed in “supervisory” roles (again) in areas of the business they don’t have the capabilities to lead. I KNOW I’m disposable. One voice amongst thousands, but I am just so disappointed that I’m back in a place of looking over my shoulder for the next best opportunity.

I can't "do more with less"

Management keeps hammering “do more with less” like it’s a pep talk, but all it does is make people tired, frustrated, and resentful. I’ve stopped pretending I can keep up with it and I feel bad for those who're still trying. It's not as if it'll do them any good in the long run or save them from layoffs.

If over 50 with time at Chevron EOI!

I'm an ex 19 yr employee that had great reviews and more than exceeded our expectations of profits for years. I got laid off first round but had that icky feeling. Thinking the company I've been loyal to for so many years would do the right thing. It's all politics and bringing in 22 yr olds right out of college that have never been in a refinery, to replace you're 22-24 psg. Chevron will suffer from these horrible decisions! There is no loyalty or morals! When I received layoff in round one, almost everyone in the notice was 45 something and up. Get out on your own terms! I regret not being able to say I retired. On a brighter note, almost a yr pay has me enjoying my family and waiting until next year to even care about looking for a job! I wish you all well and sorry you are going through this!
