Cuts in June based on org structure

Just informed that Jane is asking all managers to 1) revisit their org structures to ensure C15s have at least 10 directs and 2) identify support functions (such as risk reviewers) that may be duplicative with BAU functions. Anticipated restructures in June as a result of this review. This was noted as "Firm Wide". June was my managers guess.

May Layoff is Happening 100%

Workday IT support and legal have reviewed everything. They are now testing the data loads into workday. Pipeline is built out and the final kinks are being worked out now. Its been 6 months since the last one, most leaders are worried, on high alert, and ready for movement to get going next week. Lists were made a couple months ago based on the scripting and code prompts being run in workday for testing the last 2-3 weeks. If your manager doesn't think this is true they just have their head in the sand. Q1 results good or bad would change stop this from happening, this is Dan's plan "cut cut cut and cut so more". We took on billions in new debt, cutting employees is the only way to pay that back. Expect another one next quarter before the stock grant is given in October.

Stores without Beauty Merchandisers!!!

How’s it going in the stores without their beauty merchandisers?! Are the cosmetics associates doing the job? Visual captain?! Is stuff getting done?! Why would anyone think it was a great idea to cut them? If anything there should be a full time and a part time at every store! They’re important because they do a lot in 40 hours a week! Mind you, the pay should align better too.

SNPS L5 - ISU cut by 45%

Since my ISU got a big cut, I’ve officially entered my "Linux Villain Era." I finally installed Ubuntu 26.04 and banned my work laptop from the house in the evening and weekends—mostly because I prefer my OS without a side of corporate heavy eavesdropping. If the budget is gone, my "extra mile" just hit a dead end.

Broward School Board Delays Job Cuts Amid State Probe

The Broward School Board postponed a vote on proposed job cuts. The proposal aimed to eliminate 800 positions due to decreased state funding and student enrollment. This delay occurred as the board addressed a state investigation into credit card misuse. The probe concerns the Board chair's $150 ticket purchase for a political fundraiser using public funds. The Board will strengthen credit card policies and provide additional training.

Unusual RIF

Are the RIFs really expected to be worse than usual? There’s always some level of reduction in force, but a lot of what’s being said doesn’t seem grounded in anything concrete. It’s hard to imagine them cutting a third of OI or Health with so many active projects underway. I also haven’t heard anything from our controller or VP that would suggest cuts on that scale, nothing. I wonder if they pull names out of a hat…

Nike’s Win Now strategy is starting to look like a Cut Now reality.

Nike's former CTO agrees with this LKDN post that Nike is divesting the wrong things.
These repeated cuts feel less like a thoughtful long-term strategy and more like a short-term push to satisfy board expectations and quarterly metrics. “Win Now” sounds more like reactive cost-cutting than a real competitive investment plan.

In plain English: Nike should stop overreacting with broad, random headcount reductions and instead focus on making strategic investments that strengthen innovation, technology, and long-term market leadership.

Cutting core capabilities, especially in tech during a digitally driven retail era, risks weakening Nike’s ability to compete, rather than positioning it for sustainable growth.

Nike’s Win Now strategy is starting to look like a Cut Now reality.

Nike just cut 1,400 roles, mostly in tech.

Their official statement? It's part of their "Win Now" strategy to position for future growth. And I cannot stop laughing at the sheer audacity of that phrase.

You're firing your entire technology department during the most technology-dependent era in retail history, and calling it "Win Now"? That sounds like a surrender with better branding.

This brings Nike's 2026 total workforce reduction to approximately 2,175 employees when combined with the 775 roles eliminated in January, representing a staged approach to cost optimization that most FP&A teams recognize as "we didn't get the cuts right the first time."

When you do layoffs in multiple tranches within four months, you're not executing a strategy. You're making it up as you go. The tech department specifically? That's the department that's supposed to help you compete with lululemon's digital-first model and On's DTC dominance. But sure, let's cut those people because nothing says "future growth" like dismantling your competitive infrastructure.

From an FP&A perspective, this is textbook "optimize for this quarter's EBITDA, worry about revenue growth later." Which works great until your board asks why market share is hemorrhaging faster than your cost savings can offset.

And can we talk about "Win Now" as a strategy name? That's what you yell at your fantasy football team when you're down by 30 points. Real strategies have timelines, milestones, and don't require firing the people who actually know how your systems work.

The forecast model practically writes itself. Cut costs in Q2, miss revenue targets in Q4, announce "restructuring 3.0" in Q1 2027, rinse, repeat. Nike's not positioning for future growth. They're liquidating future capability to hit current-year numbers.

But hey, at least the PowerPoint probably looked incredible.

Abbosh get massive raise for “Partially met expectations” rating

https://www.thetimes.com/business/companies-markets/article/activist-investor-backs-pearson-ceo-pay-rise-c2ds8j55d

This is really obtuse to give this joker a pay raise while employees suffer through no raises, compressed and lowered pay scales, artificially calculated demotions for profit.

The fleecing of workers is so obvious, but here we are.

IC layoff email ?

Does anyone know when ICs from lead down will get the layoff email invite ?

Based on Friday it sounded they they were going top/down and focusing on Sr. Dir. is today still targeting upper leadership or free for all ?

Don’t care either way and I will be more relieved if I get laid off at this point.
