Federal job cuts add strain to weakening labor market in U.S.

Roughly 100,000 federal employees officially left the government payroll this week, deepening concerns about the softening U.S. job market, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday. The departures coincide with an ongoing government shutdown that could bring additional losses.

The cuts stem from the administration’s deferred-resignation program, which allowed employees to leave but continue receiving pay and benefits for months. About 154,000 took the deal, according to the Office of Personnel Management, with most staying on the books through Sept. 30. Combined with a hiring freeze, voluntary exits and layoffs, the federal workforce is expected to shrink by hundreds of thousands this year.

Wake up Americans!

30 years ago, when they moved factory jobs to Asia, you said “none of my business, let those low-skilled jobs go.”
15 years ago, when they moved office jobs to Argentina, you said “none of my business, I have an engineering degree from MIT.”
Today, when they move engineering jobs to India, what you have to say?
You need to act! Don’t let those white males use things like DEI and climate hoax to distract you, and in 10 years, US will have no jobs!

Confidence?

From what I understand the Stinky never gets any respect when he goes to those technical events in the US. That’s why he avoids them. He’s pretty much laughed at. These TECHNICAL conferences view AT&T as the most government controlled bi--hes. He’s our CEO for gods sake.

New Visa Scam: O-1 and OPT

The new visa scam by those who have OPT (Optional Practical Training) when they don't get picked via the H1B lottery, is to apply for O-1 visa. So many are now applying for O-1 visa since they couldn't get in to USA workforce through H1B. The approval rate of getting an O-1 visa is 95%. Normally their are 20K applicants, and most are approved. I don't know what type of EXTRAORDINARY ABILITY (required for O-1) these foreign engineers and researchers have that US Citizen PhD or Masters graduates don't have. THE ENTIRE USA VISA SYSTEM HAS BECOME A SCAM FROM THOSE COMING FROM MAINLY INDIA AND CHINA, TAKING AWAY AMERICAN JOBS FROM AMERICANS.

After wellness week

It will be announced that a new geo will be formed AMER which stands for Americas north and south.

APLA will disband and GC will become APAC.

EMEA will remain but absorb India becoming EMEIA

CS - AMER
CG - EMEIA
AD - APAC

TP will once again retire

(AI) First getting rid of most employees

They let everyone go, especially acquired like hMF, keeping sales teams but no one to patch or support the products. EMEA will now become India only (eventually), US is just Canada.

Justifying the cost being saved by getting unskilled people in India (replacing the existing) to submit canned responses, knowing customers won't be able to immediately migrate to alternative or seek damages on SLA.

Probably going to fail miserably with this all talk with his own talkshow CEO. Talking about AI, creating a snowy mascot to hop on stage but not actually giving his employees the tools.

With all the diversity promoted, where is your Indian AI mascot?

At least we all got some AI experience as we were filling in those lead to nowhere Career Week forms, another true example to this company being all for show, fake new procedures and hard on it's hard working employees for nothing.

"Better together" never made sense, not when you are forced to commute 2 hours to an empty office, only to conference with 3 other regions who need to do the same.

Good luck to the few left to train their replacements.

**Another video from Asianometry on GF.
**Some deep dive: GF was an attempt to make the US not depending anymore on TSMC manufacturing.
At that time,2009, the US already decided to move against China as its economy was rising too fast. The US could not move, and still cannot move, against China because in the middle there is Taiwan, and the US economy without TSMC chip is toasted.

**The plan made by the US - they were in 2009 a lot of officers from the US navy intelligence in Abu Dhabi - was to use Abu Dhabi money, telling them to prepare the end of oil by investing in semiconductors, basically moving from oil to sand... to buy AMD Fabs in Germany, to create GF, acquire Chartered Semiconductor in Singapore, and to build a new Fab in Malta, New York State. The Fab in Malta was to be joined by IBM remaining manufacturing facilities in East Fishkill and Vermont.

**On the paper, the plan looks excellent as it would offer a chip supply chain from US, Europe to Asia to the US and its allies, independent of TSMC and allowing the US to star war against China.

**Unfortunately, the execution of this plan was a complete disaster.

As GF was supposed to replace TSMC, soon all these people learnt that money do not buy you a Foundry business: Dresden Fabs were specialized in SOI technology for AMD CPUs and it took time to revert them back to bulk silicon, Malta Fab ramp up took to long, only Singapore Fabs were real foundry Fabs and were stripped of all there best people to teach foundry know-how to Dresden and Malta.
Facing disaster after disaster, the CEO starting to change every 18 months, until 2018 were all development was stopped.
GF ended up with a 14nm FinFet technology from SEC and a 22nm FDSOI from LETI in France...
As a final straw, the acquisition of IBM Fabs took too long and only happened in 2015. At that time, GF was starting to become a company with some degree of Foundry culture, but bringing IBM people with no Foundry experience reset the clock back to zero and speeded up the crash.

**At that point, it was very clear for the US that GF will not replace TSMC and another solution was needed.

Then the US thought about making Intel a domestic Foundry to replace GF, and the pathetic Pat Gelsinger was brought in the picture and we all know the outcome.

**Now, the plan is to ask TSMC to build Fabs in the US to produce advanced nodes in the US directly.
However, TSMC is dragging its feet, as people realized in Taiwan, that once the US has a domestic Foundry to replace TSMC, Taiwan would be a pawn in the US geopolitical game and destroyed during the next war against China - like Ukraine is actually.

**so, if WW3 has to start, it will be around Taiwan.

Moving Finance job overseas

CFO just announced that we are going to cut US finance jobs (both voluntary and CPM) to increase HC in lower cost center like Costa Rica. And apparently only targeting to US finance employees. How is that ok especially when the company took government fund (source from our paycheck) to increase OVERSEAS jobs?

Change BS Stream

Did anyone else find the SH session on the Change Stream demotivating today? Apparently all of our products are currently horrible and difficult for our sales people to understand and sell, then why are we beating all forecasts for WL and PL? Only the Change steam will save us now. Also, what a great idea for everyone to stretch and do 120%, what genius! Glad Covid and dealing with kids forced back into homeschooling is no longer a concern (it is). It was pretty slick to say we actually increased headcount in 2021, when we fired across US and UK only to hire in low cost countries like India and now Mexico. Not sure if anyone else caught it, but I heard they aren't sure about Costa Rica. Translation, if you work in Costa Rica TR you won't for much longer. I could go on and on about McKinsey, Facebook, Amazon and the Digital/Change experienced know nothing hires, but I better grab a glass of wine and relax.

Sungard AS is dying

In the first week of August, 75 employees in the US were whacked. The rumbles I'm hearing is that more to happen for the rest of the month. There's no question Sungard AS is dying. For five years, sales haven't met its target. These are unrealistic targets. But long-standing customers are leaving. They can't stand the poor service coming out of Costa Rica and India. What's left of product development is just weak. For example, the automated recovery tool is essentially dead. So now you've got executives bailing from the organization. The reality is, good people are gone, products are just languishing without solid progress, customers are frustrated, and the company is adrift without purpose except to RIF employees to make the numbers look good.
