Stop the rumors and focus on facts

There are so many rumors about layoffs on this forum. But none of them are based on facts.

Please focus on facts. For example, let‘s talk about the enshittification of the company culture and the effects on staff turnover. That is something that can be grounded on facts and board actions.

What's the deal with people?

There’s a strange tendency online and in workplaces for people to build entire narratives about others from very little actual information.

Not everyone who’s quiet is antisocial. Not every awkward interaction means something sinister. And not every rumor deserves to grow into a story people repeat as fact.

At some point, common sense and basic fairness should matter more than assumptions.

I’ve had a difficult year personally and professionally, and one thing I’ve learned is how damaging speculation can become when people stop communicating directly and start projecting motives onto others.

I’m not interested in drama, conflict, or relitigating anything publicly. I just think people should be more careful about assigning labels to others they don’t actually know, have never come into contact with and never met or spoken. Freaking ridiculous and inhumane.


Retail conversions

I read a comment that 600-700 stores are either being closed or converted to indirects this July. Is there any more info on that? There’s not a lot of chatter around it, and that’s a large percentage of total stores. Seems like there would be more conversations around it if it was true.


My Career Story

Rumor has it that leadership and HR are pushing for people to have the Career Story section filled out in MyGPS.
Given very recent RIFs and restructured, this feels very unsettling. Anyone here experiencing this and/or have an insight to why this is?


Predict Size & Date of the Next Layoff Round.

Chime in below. Also, I would not be surprised if someone was to set up a prediction market on Kalshi or PolyMarket for things like this. But then, HR or Management would have an upper hand and would always win (just like they do in the real life but that's a separate topic). So, this thread is my prediction market.

How would account mapping work? Who would handle Cat Center and Security conversations? Leader check in from today, can someone help confirm/deny rumors?


Latest WPE Rumors

I hear from multiple sources an announcement will be made end of May, effective after Labor Day. Four days a week in the office if you have an assigned seat. You will have to attest to compliance with the policy. Three non-consecutive days in the office if you reserve your space. True? I guess time will tell. Just passing along some rumors hoping to compare notes with what others are hearing.
