Irish redundancy

What's the rumoured redundancy package. I heard 4 weeks, 6 weeks and 8 weeks per year from all different people.

Anyone any idea what they are giving this time. Just wondering if the packages are getting worse or staying the same as the years go on.

Will there be more layoffs this year or do we think it's all over until 2027 now?

Reach plc Cuts Jobs Amidst Industry Challenges

British publisher Reach plc is implementing significant redundancies, impacting approximately 220 full-time equivalent roles across its Irish and UK operations. The company announced the closure of three online news sites, including GalwayBeo, as part of these cost-saving measures. Reach plc attributes these decisions to a broader decline in the publishing industry and shifts in how audiences consume news, citing factors like AI overviews and Google algorithm changes. Despite the job losses, the company plans to create about 60 new positions, resulting in a net reduction of around 160 roles. The National Union of Journalists has strongly criticized these "relentless" cuts, calling them an "act of self-sabotage" that will negatively affect public access to local news.

Build a Rocket Boy Faces New Layoffs

Scottish game studio Build a Rocket Boy has reportedly undergone another round of job cuts. This follows the poor reception of their action-adventure game, MindsEye, which launched with numerous issues. The studio previously laid off a significant number of developers after the game's release. Despite these challenges, the company has continued to update MindsEye and even offered a free trial. The extent of the latest redundancies remains unclear.

Axe list priorization

Does this make sense. In this specific order... I think they are following this logic when deciding who to cut. Feel free to add or correct me.

  • HR issues, complaints, conflcts, or employees seen as "problems"
  • Low perormersperformance
  • employees hated by their manager
  • Duplicate / redundant positions
  • Teams or functions being consolidated / merged
  • Mgmt layers (cut during reorgs)
  • Managers with low direct-report counts (always a target)
  • Employees on sh-t/canceled/deprioritized projects
  • Role not aligned to corp strategy
  • Remote folks
  • High-cost areas / highly comped peeps
  • Older / highly compensated employees
  • Recent hires (especially if their teams overhired)
  • Employees w/no skills aligned with newer priority (hey AI)
  • %-based cuts applied across orgs or mgmt hierarchies
  • Some get selected because canning them through a RIF is easier than managing a performance exit
  • Remaining selections needed to meet the final number needed

New hire in tech

Is there a chance of me being impacted by any layoffs? I’ve been on the team a little over two months and it took me forever to get in. I do feel that there is a lot of redundancy within my team and more folks from vendors being brought in on H1B, and already having a team in India.

I’m assuming I’d be sc--wed on any severance?

And so the redundancies continue ..

You would think after the genpact announcement there would be some more stability, but nope .. they have been quietly making more people in every country redundant. Mind you, these are people with 10-25 years worth of specialised knowledge with essential roles who are being let go… only to keep the people who still don’t know what they’re doing. Seriously what the actual f*ck are wrong with these people and decision makers ?!

Again, everyone is now on edge wondering whether they will get the tap on the shoulder next, especially with all the extra focus on introducing AI and the global standardisation project for OTC (sounds like we won’t have any customer service in the future, only AI bots). I feel bad for all the customer service teams I’ve worked with over the years in EMEA, they truly work hard for their customers and now they are being forced to hand over what they do day to day for their customers to a database.

BB needs to f*ck right off please. Hope this all back fires in his face.

FIS stopped paying redundancy compensation

Does anyone have clarity on how redundancy pay is calculated in Australia?
In Singapore, FIS paid 1 month's salary for each year of service to employees who were made redundant. In Australia, it looks like FIS is following the government-mandated rates under the National Employment Standards. Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

Identifying redundancies and eliminating it by Dec

There appear to be significant redundancies within G-8 Tech positions, particularly across product owner, GCL, and architect roles, signaling imminent consolidation in this area. Concurrently, there is a renewed focus on tech team productivity, placing large AI teams under intense scrutiny. The prevailing sentiment suggests that data scientists are primarily producing low-value papers with virtually no impact on actual business deliverables.

Look at what’s happening to Imperial

So Mr Exxon thinks they are the smartest person in the room; we have a country program that we think needs to lay off so many people and move to a new city uprooting everyone and their families. We think we are smart by holding them hostage for up to 2years when we may or may not decide to make them redundant (after we told them we would make them redundancy). Mr Exxon thinks he is so smart. And then everyone resigns and finds job elsewhere, institutional knowledge leaves the office and we are left with minimum collective competency and morale at an all time low. We have no other option now but to use the TCs and chaos will prevail.

I was layed off in recent restructure

For all of you here who are still waters employees enjoy the ride.
I was recently made redundant.
It is one of the worst feelings in terms of life change, people say no one died it's just a job,but it's not, to loose your job in these circumstances is devastating, I cannot put into words the mental effect this has had, yes no one has died but all your hard work and effort you put into the company are all wiped out in one moment, when you are told your role is been made redundant and you are no longer part of the corporation.
The hardest part in all this of this is why, when the corporation are still activley hiring and you ask the question what did making my role redundant really achieve, did it create synergy reduce reporting lines what did this really achieve in terms of delivering benefit, or living my legend.

Dejavu 1993-1999 ex Synopsys employee

This layoff is so-called cleaning house/overlapping functions....happens with mergers/acquisitions. Saw many heads hacked from top to bottom throughout my tenure and left voluntarily after 7 years.....could hear the axe being sharpened again. Turbulent times then....and still today. BUT so glad I moved on to a better/bigger life.

Favouritism seemed to outweigh performance

My experience with the MBP QA team was disappointing. Favouritism seemed to outweigh performance, and quality work wasn't properly valued. Despite my commitment and contributions, I was made redundant while others with limited output remained.

Red Rover Interactive Cuts Staff After Raising $20 Million

July 2026 - The day we lost so much talent

Today is the day where XOM lost an unbelievable amount of talent between our Australia friends moving to Woodside and the remainder of the Brits being made redundant. Sad day for us all and we will suffer the consequences long term. DWW should pay when something happens but hey this Merica so he will left holding his $100M fund and be left to retire happily whilst others pay the price

So was the option to buy 10 days leave restored or not?

Back in November last year, in UK at least, without any warning the number of days of additional annual leave was reduced from 10 to 5. We were told at the time it was a mistake and when DXC Select reopened in the summer you could buy the extra 5, to restore normality.
Did that happen? Or did DXC management mislead again?
(I'm only curious as I got redundancy a few weeks ago)

Layoffs are coming

Every acquisition brings layoffs, but this will be bad. Usually it's the acquired company that gets the brunt of it, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is used to get rid of as many people as possible on both sides under the cover of supposed redundancy. Prepare yourselves. This will not be pretty.

Chugging out the stock awards to the top brass only

Kyndryl is dishing out shares worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to execs in the middle of a redundancy program

CEO Schroeter's latest stock award takes his total tally to 2.449 million shares. Likewise, Keinan now owns 1.603 million and Chugh 184,455.

The average wage paid to a Kyndryl employee in 2025 was $39,464 versus $15.8 million awarded to Schroeter

Laid of in london - Heres my package in 2026

Was laid off early May and given 3 weeks until 29 May to sign the settlement agreement

My package looks like this
3 weeks to review settlement agreement (no work to do and fully paid)
3 month notice period - Got lucky as this was changed during covid years when they got scared of people resigning with only a month notice
6 weeks tax free redundancy for six years service which was lousy
22 days holiday paid out which I had accrued
Pension and medical insurance paid for 3 months and 22 days

tried to fight for my bonus but got zero

Basically cost me 65 grand to make me redundant in the UK - I was on 140K salary as a senior consultant and I get to leave end of May as I am put on PILON

I start in a new job on 15 June so this is all fine for me and I am delighted

People who are laid off should be using these boards to share what they got so that others can do the same - The time is coming - The numbers are sh-t and they are in a hole with no way out

Managers getting paid out crazy amounts

Do the math! Redundancy costs and also staff decreases are in the notices. If you average it out it’s a lot more than most people are getting. What gives? Obviously there are a few people who are getting paid out a big fat wad of cash while most of the rest are getting paid peanuts.

IT Services

I thought I saw a post last week where someone said IT Services aren't included in IRIF but RH just gone after a fanfare of announcing his new role globally and he was instrumental in the delivery of ITaaS. Is this a shadow redundancy or something more and IT Services are actually in the pool?
