Everything else—core network gear, handsets, billing platforms, even the “innovative” services—is rented, outsourced, or white-labeled from someone else. Verizon doesn’t build; it integrates, negotiates, and marks up.

For a decade-plus that was more than enough. Mobile-device penetration went from ~60 % to nearly 90 % and then kept climbing. All the company had to do was count the cash. Hundreds of billions—bordering on trillions in cumulative revenue—rolled in with almost no heavy lifting. The network largely ran itself, churn was low, and Wall Street rewarded the steady dividend growth.

Then the hands came off the wheel.
Greed set in. Prices crept up, customer service eroded, and the attitude became “we’re Verizon—we’re great, right?”

Meanwhile, hyperscalers quietly swallowed the home: they own the routers, the streaming boxes, the smart TVs, the voice assistants. Cable operators and upstarts kept building fiber and fixed-wireless networks. Suddenly every carrier looks the same to the average customer. The only variable left is price.

And that’s exactly where we are today: a commoditized, stagnated industry where differentiation has vanished and the only remaining game is who can squeeze the last margin out of the pipe.

The easy-money era is over. The gig is up.
And now the board and execs woke from their stupor and are taking it out on loyal employees with the temporary, non-sustainable, oldest trick in the book: mass layoffs to “cook” the books for a short-term stock pop.

AI may be part of it, but what else are you going to bring to build real, sustainable growth?

Anyone following the scandal with the company called Delve? Apparently they were smart guys who used AI and India to provide compliance for companies. You’ll never guess but the Indians just made stuff up and issued fake SOC reports, allegedly. So smart that we are moving work to India.

Blount Memorial Hospital announced layoffs affecting 85 workers. These changes will take effect on May 1. The hospital is contracting out its food, nutrition, and environmental services. Most affected employees will be rehired by Compass Healthcare organizations. This move aligns operations with the broader Prisma Health system.

In the so called survivor meeting, they claim Cognizant is excellent partner (which is a TOTAL JOKE if you know what WITCH companies are). And they claim scaling up and down will be easier (scaling up is hard, scaling down is easy). They can fire ones easily by bench policy etc. Please, prepare for other plans. You deserve much better.

Heard about BCC from Sourcing town hall. Is this 3M saying they will hire and replace in these cheap labor markets? Is this the strategy, hire in OUS and EXPECT US government contracts and customers to ignore? Celebrating US250 this year, shouldn’t this be highlighted and treated accordingly? Maybe I don’t know 3M history well yet, but seems like a giant finger to US and its workers while trying to hide it and simply say they are global.

Many investors want to exit their positions in FIS, but most of them are currently down by 30% to 50%, and some even by 70%. Because of these heavy losses, they are unwilling to sell at this point. What investors really want is either a strong turnaround in the company’s performance that drives the stock price up, or for FIS to be acquired by a major industry player so they can recover some value.

However, FIS has a very large workforce, and no major company is interested in acquiring such a high‑headcount organization. As a result, FIS has begun outsourcing and laying off employees to significantly reduce its full‑time workforce—potentially by up to 50% compared to today. This process is expected to continue through the end of the year. Once the company becomes leaner and more cost‑efficient, a sale becomes more likely

just saying. i am sure it folks will disagree, but the rest of us are wandering about this.

Well guys, should we consider unionizing now or wait until they either outsource all of our jobs to India or replace us with AI

Title says it all. Exxon will not stop untill all engineering and research is done in India or even lower cost countries. There are several studies going on now that are looking at BTC capabilities and off shoring to India. The only jobs will be at the physical plants for operations. Everything else will be outsourced. We already have BTC engineers working at several plants in rotation. Look around and see the future. Costs saving are exxons future. The bottom line is the most important constant and nothing else matters.

There is no need to beat around the bush.

Everyone know FISERV CIO has initiative to move all jobs to INDIA.

The company is on a DOWNWARD SPIRAL for a LONG TIME.

It does not INNOVATE.

That is why we want AI, because there are already MINIMAL STANDARDS.

So if you don't like it? Find a NEW JOB.

Otherwise, It's NOT WORTH IT.

Or else stay at Fiserv and have your job OUTSOURCED.

If not deal then deal with LOW QUALITY,

There was a very disjointed and brief call today, with no questions allowed to be asked, stating FIS is going to outsource almost all parts of the business.

The National Correctional Employees Union filed a complaint against Knox County. The union alleges the county failed to negotiate over jail layoffs. The county reduced the jail workforce from 22 to eight full-time workers. It also outsourced inmate housing and replaced kitchen staff with a private company. The union seeks an order for the county to bargain in good faith and stop anti-union acts.

In many discussions with the Betriebsrat, the executive board noted that they won’t push for layoffs in 2026 as long as the share price is above €150. With the global economy crashing and SAP reducing innovation and its core business to curry favor with American CEOs, the share price will go below €150 in March or April.

I wonder if this means that CK and DA and Gina and others can enact their evil plan of mass layoffs. Because the gains from AI are so dismal, they’ll probably outsource most jobs to other countries such as India.

When do you think these layoffs are coming and in which LOBs and for which roles? My guess is that HR wants to get rid of support engineers and product managers first across most LOBs. And that they will focus on anyone who hasn’t been with SAP for at least ten years as anyone over ten years are seen as loyal. So bye bye acquisition employees.

And so it begins: the pressure from above to start using AI tools. The reality: whatever can be replaced in the next years will be. We wont need to outsource anymore, AI will do it. So, if things are bad, it will get worse.

And through it all, they'll keep giving us pep talks about working harder. The disconnect is staggering.

Do we really think the company will lay off all merchant facing jobs and move to the Phillipines? How could we do that and still be an American company and publicly traded?

This is alarming to think we could lose our jobs just because cost is cheaper in a third world country. Is this what worldpay does? I heard they are closing most buildings down at the end of the year, except Cincinnati, Atlanta, Rochester, and Jacksonvill. Is that true? Thesis is scary times. 😢

Ship it all to ITC but…..

1. They don’t care about the brand.
2. They don’t care or know how to serve the athlete.
3. They’re not awake when their customer (the biz) is.
4. They work bare minimum and are not proactive.
5. Laying off long time Fte sec folks who gave their all but had horrible leadership and a lousy product and vendor to work with is cold. Accenture su-ks….
6. Sales and innovation su-ks so definitely cut, but creating jobs in ITC for folks who will not be held accountable for anything is a money su-k.

Apparently Centene is outsourcing Fidelis Retention responsibilities to a third party called “Fortuna” as some kind of pilot, claiming it’s to “offer additional options” to members for enrollment/renewal. This is while Retention reps have been begging management to hire more staff, lighten the load, etc. I have a bad feeling about this.

I think it’s time for the fed to stop doing business with XRX hopefully putting SB, the EC, and the company out of their respective misery. We have sent so many jobs offshore that there should be a penalty.

The University of Vermont (UVM) Grounds Crew has been laid off. Nine workers are affected by this decision. UVM Facilities Management announced the move in a February 20 email. The university stated the change aims to improve efficiencies with private contractors. Union representatives believe the layoffs are retaliatory after prior grievances.

Does anyone know the long term plans for Tailored Branch Support? Will it also be outsourced at some point or will it be a long-term position at EJ?

I hear all of IT will separate from ConocoPhillips and be in sourced as InfoSys employees.

I write this as a user of QuickBooks, not as an employee. I'm an accountant. QuickBooks has been my lifeblood. Over the past 5 years, this software has been absolutely destroyed. What was simple has become complicated. What was efficient has become slow, clunky, and unresponsive. The A.I. features are an absolute joke, introducing so many errors that have to be manually fixed. The interface screen used to so intuitive, but is now a confusing mess. Function buttons that were on the front screen are now buried under 3 levels of menus. And glitches... now so many glitches. Transactions are lost. Saved items miraculously disappear. Many of my clients have experienced payroll tax issues.

You can tell the coding was outsourced to engineers in India. Total cr-p design.

Customer service is an absolute joke. Foreign people who can barely speak english reading canned responses from their "Intuit Customer Service Book".

This company is going down. They destroyed a great product. Outsource your engineering to a 3rd world country and you'll get 3rd world results.

Questions for HR reading this.

1. Are they planning on doing a mass layoff of remote employees?

2. Is there any truth to the shift of sending more positions overseas?

3. What are we not being told?

I'm being dragged into a project to help prepare a consultancy to take over a major compliance job.

This consultancy has never done a good job in my experience.

I'm soooo sure they're going to succeed this time though. Zero percent chance of incoming lawsuits after this.

Cigna is moving to dismantle the trucare pre-authorization department. Eventually, all pre authorizations will be doing through Evicore. In the near future, trucare won’t exist and evicore will be managing all of Cigna’s preauthorization.

Are they so stupid to think AI or somebody in India or wherever can replace that?

With the implosion of the FIS contract handling the TA known as Project Condor, the take back of CS will be completed soon, date uncertain, due to the remaining Retirement and Shareholder skills being serviced at FIS until after the tax filing deadline. They are waiting to be notified by FT that they have the staffing trained up to take all calls. So far, they don't. The panic is spreading, hiring has been haphazard. Workday's AI tool has not been successful in capturing the applications of all tenured staff wanting to come back. Many have received rejections. Managers do not have the capability to retrieve their applications leaving many in limbo. The entire five year drama has cost FT highly experienced/knowledgeable staff to other companies. A TA that was operating efficiently was outsourced to save money. The whole thing is FUBAR.

tgs seems to have too many ineffective people. they hire and promote friends and family, then outsource most of the work. when things are not delivered, they blame the outsourcing partner insted of taking responsiblity. some vps show very low maturity. we need to remove those vps and the cio... and focus on skill based hiring.

There have been numerous rebadging (moving functions and the people that support it to a contracting firm) over the last few years, significant ones with Infy, HCL, and Cognizant. I'm hearing it's coming again, on and off shore.

Anyone have any details on the areas impacted?

We're all going to be laid off as soon as the company possibly can do so, if not sooner, because we're all being replaced via automation, off-shoring and outsourcing. I'm just grateful to have the nice termination package per labor contract for when the inevitable day comes when my position is surplussed.

Did you know that United is licensing AI software from Amazon? This software allows call center representatives in other countries to speak, and it alters the tonality and accent of the voice. This is to prevent American citizens from knowing they are speaking with a representative overseas.

The AI takeover to move jobs overseas is already happening. You just don’t know it yet.

Sit back, relax. We will continue to contract out all the actual work. Do a bit every day, just to stay in shape, everything else will be contracted out.

I think all our customers and as well as our biggest complaints is the outsourced customer service. We need to bombard the next pulse survey with complaints. They are inept , incompetent and are not helpful

1. They'll be global
2. US layoffs to be executed in Q4. Other regions usually take longer for legal reasons.
3. Exact US timing likely to be around 3/20 earnings. I heard people say both before and after.
4. PHK teams with members in ITC or PTC are likely to be fully outsources (MG spoke of this).
5. Management to be flattened. Expect fewer directors with more direct reports.
6. Nike is expanding the ITC office.
7. Outsourcing part of the mix.

What else?

Once certian projects are finished they will lay off the rest of that department and let L T I take over. Congrulations on working yourself out of a job. HR will mostly be replaced by a computer. Get used to talking to a machine.

Middle management will be gutted.

They won't be needed since LTI has their own management in place. Projects will be downsized further and support groups dismantled and/or gone. Operations you aren't safe. They are looking at you. Anyone who is of retirement age will be next. If you have several complaints in your file you will also be gone. There won't be anyone left at cpchem except for a few in corporate.

In Legal Affairs this week, 11 people most of whom are in their 50’s and women with pensions. They are outsourcing their jobs to India and hiring a few of them to teach their jobs to and manage their Indian replacements. Of course if you are one of the ones they hire back, you will get a demotion to a lower job grade level.
Is this happening in other areas?

Corning Inc. is outsourcing a distribution center. Ryder will operate this facility. The center is located in Eastern North Carolina. It spans 780,000 square feet. Corning Inc. is also expanding other operations within the state.
