Laid off and relieved

I was hoping for this outcome. I don't have another job lined up, like most of us don't. I'm going to take a break, decompress, and then figure out what's next. Good luck to everyone, especially the real pros and the good people I had the pleasure of working with. My advice to everyone still at Nike is to focus on finding something else. It will not get better around here.

End of Employment Box Link

Hi all,

I was laid off today and received a link to a box folder for my end of employment documents.

I have my email and password but everytime I login, it asks for a 2FA code. Its been years since I logged in or did anything in personal box account. I dont remember setting up MFA.

So I cannot seem to access/login. Anyone had similar issues ?

Reorg

Got laid off last week due to reorg at Gainwell — no notice, just same-day exit. Management changes, no budget, increased pressure on teams, and offshoring made the direction pretty clear in hindsight.

It’s a tough reminder of how quickly things can shift, especially with AI and evolving priorities reshaping the industry.

Layoffs third week of May

Converge. Sales Kick Off in Vegas. But I am hearing that layoffs will be third week of May which makes no sense at all to fly people to Vegas and then lay them off. But...NetApp has done crazier things...

Any chance somebody knows more about this? Whether it's true or not, among other things?

Why I'm begging to be cut

I have been here eleven years and I used to really care about Cisco. I thought it was special. But somewhere along the way, probably around year eight, I just lost it. Now all I want is out. The problem is I can't just quit because I have a mortgage and a kid who is starting college in two years, so I need some kind of package to bridge the gap while I figure out my next move. Every single time there is a rumor about layoffs, I let myself get hopeful. No luck so far, though.

So many stories like this one

  • Brad Jenkins was laid off from his technician job at Intel last year.
  • He's been struggling to find work for the last six months.
  • Jenkins, who's in his 60s, said the layoff has disrupted his retirement plans.

I might have just saved somebody's job

I quit. I got a comparable offer and I just wanted out. My only regret about leaving Fidelity is that I can only quit once. I'd do it every week if I could. Every day. That's how much I've grown to hate this place. I just hope somebody in my team gets to keep their job as a result. I doubt it, but who knows.

Major RIF coming in June?

Sounds like all departments in both companies have been told the last two levels of Orgs will be settled in late May through June. This means mass layoffs at this time. Curious if anyone is being told different, later in the year etc.

I know some at the Director level are not being retained and are already aware

Unusual RIF

Are the RIFs really expected to be worse than usual? There’s always some level of reduction in force, but a lot of what’s being said doesn’t seem grounded in anything concrete. It’s hard to imagine them cutting a third of OI or Health with so many active projects underway. I also haven’t heard anything from our controller or VP that would suggest cuts on that scale, nothing. I wonder if they pull names out of a hat…

Laid off on PTO

Curious how it works if you get laid off while you’re out on PTO. My manager has been very distant for a number of weeks now so I can only assume I’ll be part of the April 30 cut. I took this week off so they don’t lose my PTO but I’m curious would they still call me on Thursday? What if I don’t answer 😅

Verizon can remain irrational longer than you can remain patient

I noticed a lot of irrational decisions when I first joined GN&T. We had directors and managers of engineering who had no engineering background whatsoever (no engineering degree and no hands-on experience). They, in turn, would promote people who lacked experience and were clearly unqualified. They would spend a lot of capital on projects with dubious benefits and predictably low return on investment and reject projects with obvious benefits and ROI, etc…

I thought this state of affairs couldn’t last and things would eventually follow a more rational path but I couldn’t have been more wrong so I volunteered to be laid off. Verizon can remain irrational longer than you can remain patient.

UTA Reduces Workforce by 49 Amid Financial Challenges

The University of Texas at Arlington has laid off 49 employees. These layoffs occurred since June 1, 2025, across 14 departments.
