I noticed something recently

If you ask two managers the same question, you will never get the same answer. Never. Not only that, the answers are usually completely opposite. So basically, if you need guidance, just ask one and pray that person knows what they're doing, because trying to reach a consensus will only leave you more confused.

It's hard to build a career here

I came here five years ago expecting to build some useful experience and move forward. Instead, I've spent a lot of time doing repetitive work with systems that feel years behind where the industry is headed. The hours are long and the pressure is constant, but there's very little sense that you're building toward something. Raises are abysmal and don't really make up for the rising cost of living. Promotions are limited, and sometimes it feels as though there isn't even a path to develop into something different. Management doesn't exactly make the situation easier. After enough time doing the same tasks, you start worrying about your skills becoming outdated too. That's probably what bothers me most. It's one thing to work hard for a while when you know you're gaining something from it, and it's another thing to feel exhausted and stuck at the same time.

Why fix what wasn't broken?

There have been so many examples of Nike losing the exact thing that made us good. It always seems to start with decisions that look harmless on their own, then suddenly you're wondering what happened. We have plenty of experience and resources, so watching this happen over and over is pretty frustrating. You'd think we'd eventually learn from it.

Nothing to brag about anymore

There was a time when I would've defended this place without thinking twice. These days, I keep wondering what happened to the standards we used to have. So many decisions are difficult to understand that it's getting harder to take any pride in the place. I don't know how much longer this can continue.

I know this is redundant, but people have really lost it here at Xerox

Everyone is so on edge lately and it’s honestly becoming exhausting to be around. Every little thing turns into a complaint or a conversation about how bad things are, how they can’t get their work done, how they don’t have what they need, how leadership is doing this or that

And I get it. People are worried. There’s a lot of uncertainty and nobody really knows what’s coming next. But at the same time, we still have jobs to do. It’s getting to the point where people are complaining about not being able to do their jobs while also spending half their time complaining about everything going on.

You can literally feel the anxiety in every meeting. Someone mentions a change or sends an email and suddenly everyone is trying to figure out what it something means

I’m not saying people shouldn’t be concerned, because obviously there are legitimate reasons to be but the constant doom and complaining is getting really old. It’s making an already stressful situation even more miserable

New leadership hires are terrible

All these leadership hires from GM and Stellantis are d-mb as rocks. So tired of them telling long time employees how brilliant their prior company was and how d-mb Ford is. And the GM Club can stop snickering about our decisions, systems, etc. It wasn't too long ago they were fired from their old company. If they were so talented, they wouldn't be here. Go back to where you came from!

Culture Survey

Reminder: the only metric they will listen to is not filling out the survey. We tried tanking the survey with low “My company cares about my well being” scores. Only to be subjected to a year of gaslighting and telling us, it is because we don’t know enough about our benefits, as if we all just forgot about them when RTO hit. Most lower levels of management hate RTO and having to talk about it every team meeting. At some point in the leadership chain they start to care more about their career then their employees wellbeing and simply to refuse to push back against Stankbutt. Maybe once we let them know how checked out this workforce is, they will start to tell the emperor he isn’t wearing clothes.

CEOs and Narcissism

Research estimates vary, suggesting 8–12% of CEOs may be highly narcissistic, while many others display milder traits along a spectrum.

Below is a URL to a recent article that goes into detail as research done on CEOs who exhibit narcissistic traits.

The bots are back in force - you know what that means, layoffs time!

You pesky workers! We had a good thing going! All you had to do is go back to your dreadful office every day for the rest of your miserable life, get berated by management, enjoy whatever snacks we stole from the food bank down the road once a blue moon, hit your unrealistic goals and be happy with your current salary and position until the heat death of the universe!! Dont you see!? Most of you arent making us MONEY. Ah yes some of you are selling those pretty little products nicely, but not ALL of you! The Microfocus product hostage- I MEAN CLIENTS have began singing "dont fear the reaper" and "we ain't gonna take it" on renewal meetings! The ONE set of products we had people tied down for life with environments so complex they needed priests on a 24/7 rota to perform exorcisms just for them to work normally and Moses himself to return for a second time to lead a migration away from the products that will take fourty years of what feels like a trek in the Sahara desert and you pushed them away too?! What do you want ?! Was the shifty treatment, silencing and threats and lack of any sort of improvement of your day to day life under the rule of the great leader not enough for you ?! DO YOU STILL DESIRE MORE ?!

Now all joking aside, it seems someone from leadership got told on a meeting "by the way guys, there's this website, not sure if you know it, and the things they write about you there, ooooh boy.." and they remembered about this page's existence again. The last time the bots were pushing the 1984 agenda with its all peaches and daisies and flowers and roses and everyone loves us was right before the last layoffs. We already had a bunch of rumors here for the layoffs coming in October, but in my opinion the bots more or less confirm it. Not sure how it is in your office (and I haven't been to mine yet today) but the previous days the mood can only be explained as a disaster. Even colleagues that are typically positive are cursing the products they're working on.

If your reply contains the words "markets love us" and something equivalent to "absolutely agree, no layoffs confirmed by all powerful glorious leader" you hereby declare you are a bot.

Toxic Environment

Do you all remember what it was like 10 years ago? We had the staff that we needed to get our jobs done. People were friendly and didn’t cause drama for the sake of it, and we didn’t hire toxic people. There is this culture now of toxicity where people will lie on each other in hopes of getting the next promotion. That promotion does not exist, however, because AI has replaced that rung in the ladder.

Why is this all so toxic???? I’m to the point where I come in and just do my job and go home and I talk to the minimum amount of people possible. I have never been more burnt out and depressed in my life.

Do not cave- remember 8/1/25

Well, it’s here.

DO NOT TAKE THIS SURVEY.

And don’t reply to this with dimwitted comments about how you’re going to hammer them. They don’t care about your comments or your ratings. Couldn’t give less of a flying flip.

ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS WHETHER YOU TAKE IT OR NOT. DON’T GIVE THEM THE WIN ON THIS.

Before the end of next week, you and the rest of your group will start receiving emails from your AD, Director, and VP urging your participation. Do not cave. Despite what you read here, they cannot tell who has and who has not completed the survey. They get a roll up report showing the percentage of their team that has participated.

I know many bootlickers will take the survey and leave glowing comments. I know many dimwits will still think their low ratings and scathing comments matter, and will take it.

I am just hoping for the lowest participation numbers ever.

I’m really happy to quit now

I’ve been a part of Citi since 2018 and it felt like a completely different world back then. Maybe Mike Corbat wasn’t the best CEO and the organization struggled a lot back then, but at least it felt like working in a normal, non-abusive and non-toxic environment. We might have resolved the reg consent orders, but at a cost of sacrificing the human capital. Shame.

VZI "leaders" are so full of it

I havent had a team meeting or skip level in the last 3 months while being told to work 12 hours a day coz "Business team wants something urgently".
But suddenly I have 3 different meeting invites this week to "Go through the Pulse questions".
Absolutely pathetic people are the so called "leaders". Shame on you. I wish they get axed first. No way im giving anything more than a 1/5 to these a--holes.

Employment at Truist as a transactional relationship

I've been here for many years. I do my job well. Not "above and beyond." Not "wearing 17 hats." I mean I do the job I'm actually paid to do.

In all my years here, I've seen exactly ONE person on my team get promoted. And, they have a different job title than me. My reward for sticking around and doing my job? Same performance review every year, bonus and tiny raise. Rinse and repeat.

So at this point, I've accepted that employment here is a transaction. I sell my time and skills, they give me a paycheck and benefits. Pretty straightforward.

I don't see a promotion in my future, so I'm not really sure why I'd voluntarily take on a bunch of responsibilities outside my job description for the privilege of... getting even more responsibilities.

What I find hilarious is watching some people on my team immediately volunteer for literally anything leadership throws at them. "Can you take this on?" Absolutely. "Can you also do this other person's job?" Sure. "Can you work on this project that's completely unrelated to your role?" Of course. "Can you stay late?" Where do I sign?

And then somehow everyone acts surprised when those extra responsibilities become permanent.

A lot of these people are older, so I've genuinely wondered if this is generational. Maybe they were raised with the idea that you work hard, prove yourself, and eventually the company recognizes your loyalty.

Meanwhile, my millennial brain is sitting here thinking: You want me to do a different job? Cool. What's the new job title and compensation?

Because I've watched enough Truist "career development" to understand that "great visibility" and "opportunity to grow" are sometimes just Truist corporate-speak for congratulations, you now have more work.

Maybe I'm cynical. Maybe I'm transactional. Or maybe I've just figured out that doing 30% more work for 0% more money isn't actually a promotion.

Curious what others think. Are people from different generations really approaching work differently, or are some of us simply less willing to donate our labor outside our job description to Truist?

News Media and Shareholders

If when you do an internet search on “Humana Stock.” And then click on “News” at the top, if you do the slightest internet research on each of those news reporting sites, you will find that almost all are owned by and run by India. And most will have sorted (unless your click to sort by latest articles) will show articles that speak favorably as to Humana’s stock.

Why do you think that is?

India is propping up Humana with their news media, with their buying stock into Humana, etc. So, no wonder Humana has so many Indians on the payroll, via H-1B or offshoring to India.

Please, won’t you remaining American citizens wake up and see what is occurring?!

Tech manager’s job is to manage attendance

It’s funny how the primary task of a “technology” manager or “senior” manager is to monitor and manage the attendance of other adults. It’s like being in school and the teacher marking attendance of all the kids. Except the kids here are 40 year olds. Directors senior directors and VPs doing the same, asking devs to update some values in excel files, database columns and loosely using the term “AI” to appear current. All while half their team members are sitting remote, not attending meetings, and always appearing away. How about you manage their “attendance” ?

Oracle layoff after record quarter

Oracle is experiencing record quarters, just like us. They are laying off folk. We are making people miserable enough to quit.
Maybe the lay off rumors for us have some credibility?
What is going on broadly? CEO desperate to replace humans with cheap AI even before AI works well or is cheap?

Education is a DISASTER!

Who is running the ship here? The SVP is clueless on the day to day, the VP is the SVPs buddy, the directors are a majority of the SVPs pawns from his years moving up the chain. Account Managers are doing nothing but collecting orders and being paid $500K+ doing so. When you talk about doing a shake up, this leadership team needs to be separated, laid off or deployed to other parts of the business.

Starbucks Faces Scrutiny Over Nashville Job Incentives

Nashville's Industrial Development Board expressed concerns regarding Starbucks' $30 million incentive package. Board members questioned the company's job creation promises and worker treatment. Starbucks plans to invest $100 million and create up to 2,000 corporate jobs in the city. The board's deliberations highlight potential hurdles for the coffee giant's expansion. Further discussions are expected on the terms of the incentive agreement.
