7 Questions About a Centene Acquisition (or breakup)

There has been a lot of speculation here about whether we are being prepared for a sale, breakup or some other mega restructuring.

No one here knows if that is actually happening. But with the layoffs, VSP, outsourcing, business exits and all the Mission Simplfy changes, it seems worth asking what employes are seeing internally.

  • Are you seeing bus units being separated or simplified in ways that would make them easier to sell?

  • Are shared functions like finance, HR, tech or ops being split more clearly by line of business?

  • Are leaders asking for more detailed reporting on headcount, budgets, profitability or costs by individual business unit?

  • Have you seen unusual work around contracts... systems, vendors, assets or employee lists that seems designed to identify what belongs to each part of the company?

  • Does the Cognizant outsourcing look like normal cost cutting??? or does it look like Centene is trying to reduce the amount of internal infrastructure it carries?

  • Are there certain businesses, markets or LOBs that look more likely to be sold, exited or separated than others?

  • For people closer to leadership, finance, strategy or integration work, does what you are seeing look like normal restructuring, preparation for a breakup (preparation for a sale,??) or something else?

Lucid Overhauls Leadership Following Layoffs and Production Cuts

Lucid is replacing almost its entire executive team under new CEO Silvio Napoli. This leadership overhaul follows the struggling EV maker cutting 18% of its workforce. The company also recently withdrew its 2026 production guidance. New hires include a Chief Financial Officer, Chief Technology Officer, and Chief Customer Officer. Lucid is also creating a distinct business unit for robotaxis, AI, and advanced technologies.

How many got hit?

How many people got impacted? What positions specifically got impacted in each BU? Any interesting people get laid off today?

I apologize to anyone dealing with the lay off. Both the website and dealing with being laid off. It’s one of the roughest experiences I’ve ever been through myself. But you will make it.

And if Fidelity is reading this, I will pay you to find whoever keeps making the Boston devops posts and take away their phone.

New operating unit merges cardiac surgery and aortic

From LinkedIn just now, from Karim Bandali:
"I am excited to share the creation of a new Operating Unit at Medtronic focused on Cardiovascular Surgery. Today, we unite Cardiac Surgery and Aortic — each with deep expertise, talented people, and a shared commitment to patients and clinicians."

can we please audit our ‘research’ companies or orgs?

There is nothing of value that comes out of 90% of the work our ‘researchers’ do. They get paid for making up bumber in the air, dragging projects for 2-3 years until a new manager arrives , tweak and drag some more. Dead after 10 years. rinse and repeat. how stupid does our company have to be to not see through the BS? it’s embarrasing to talk to them from business unit perspective. there are people working genuinely hard, everyday trying to meet the targets and doing honest work, spending hours stressed about meeting baseline — but the research orgs? what the he-l are they doing? made up work no one wants to use? why are we allowing to continue this clear inefficiency?

If any leader with common sense and some ba--s reads this, please conduct an audit of the claims of research projects and actual value delivered over years. Its mind numbingly d-mb to let these projects and organizations survive. Nothing against the people, they are smart ( but scared to speak up) deploy them to do something useful. Oil and gas is not rocket science.

Will Value be axed and be more like an Indirect Organization?

These Value brands used to be their own business's and pay Verizon for “access”.

Nancy got moved to protect her nearly 40 year tenure.

Indirect dealers have been beefing up their operational staff with old Verizon execs.

Should be interesting next week.

Verizon will maintain the 3 campus hubs, and 11 business hubs:

Y’all’s SVP didn’t give you the full list? Yes, the emails only reveal the big three “campus hubs”:

  1. Basking Ridge
  2. NYC
  3. Irving, TX

But there are also named “business hubs” chosen by business unit leaders for investment:

  1. Alpharetta
  2. Annapolis Junction
  3. Ashburn
  4. Cary
  5. Chandler
  6. Irvine
  7. Lone Tree
  8. Miami
  9. Rolling Meadows
  10. Temple Terrace
  11. Washington DC

If you work in the location other than the ones listed, you are in a non-directional location. The locations will either be maintained or will be exited in the future.

Salt Lake City must have some pull because their center is closing but they’re all going home-based. Hmm!!!
