Laying off Employees during Thanksgiving week 'Elevates Fiserv'

Long term loyal employees are professionals and do understand the changing business environment. If the business has a need and decide to send them out, atleast pick a decent time to do it, well before or after Thanksgiving week.

Don't punch them hard in their face 2 days before Thanksgiving, they have to show their face to their family when they get home.

Target Tech is straight-up constructive discharge now — they WANT us to quit

Ever since the layoffs, it’s been crystal clear: Target doesn’t have the desire to do another formal RIF, so they’re trying to make the rest of us rage-quit instead.
The new SVPs openly don’t trust any of the remaining VPs because they’re “holdovers from the Brian Cornell personality-cult era.” That distrust trickles down hard — directors and Sr. directors are getting micromanaged into the ground, skipped in meetings, or flat-out told their opinion doesn’t matter because they’re “old Target.”
And now the latest insanity in Target Tech: they are MANDATING that story pointing be “consistent” across the entire org — one point = one ideal engineering day. Doesn’t matter if you’re on a legacy spaghetti codebase or greenfield green-grass stuff, doesn’t matter if half your sprint is fighting Prod fires or on-call — 1 point = 8 hours or you’re “underperforming.” They’re literally we-ponizing story points to create impossible velocity goals so they can PIP people who can’t hit the made-up numbers.
Hours are creeping up, recognition is gone, morale is in the toilet, and every standup feels like a performance review. Classic constructive discharge playbook.

Abu Dhabi

While Hans is running through the streets of Abu Dhabi shouting “Leeeeeesssssss Gooooooooo” and Dan the man is completely silent, VZ Employees are left with what today?

Who actually has any morale or pride left in working for this company? Is anyone actually proud to be a VZ employee? If the business as a whole doesn’t sink, the morale and sense of pride sure have. Prove me wrong.

Boeing work culture is toxic

Years of layoffs have made a very toxic work culture. People do not want to help their coworkers because they are afraid they might be the next person looking for a job.

You cannot have a work culture where you lay off the most experienced people because they make more and expect those same people to mentor younger employees. Instead, you have created a culture where no one wants to help anyone.

D-mbledore fans - Turn on the light

Don’t let darkness go all the way inside you.

Keep some distance from it all. Don’t give it more real estate in your head than it deserves. Keep it little away!

It’s all cyclical. Bad times come then they leave. Nothing stays forever.

If you have a candle around, actually light it. It helps!

R.I.P.

Thank you to all those in the know, (still on the inside), who have given what you could here.

Thank you to all those, (on the outside), who have chimed in with your experiences.

Thanks to all for the wisdom, the therapy, the venting, and yes, the laughs as we all collectively process through this.

Let the fires burn hot and the whisky sting on the way down. Rock on !!!

To all those who were laid off today….

Just remember that your entire livelihood and career is worth about 1/700 or even more of the $74m discretionary executive bonus pool for 2025. This is split by 5 employees.

Your whole family and your dependents and kids futures are just a rounding error for the leadership team. Shoulda been a shareholder, su-ks to su-k 😂 😂 😂

You people down vote everything

Some people on here have shared some experiences and your reaction is to down vote it. I guess that makes you feel better? Burying your head in the sand?

I am sorry, but Verizon is going to be a horrible company to work for in the near future.

So go ahead and down vote people who post honest remarks if that makes you feel better. It won't change a thing.

Not everyone on this board is a troll.

This wasn’t just Dan’s call to make

Here’s another worthless perspective from a former VZW sales leader.

Large and substantial layoffs like this take several months to plan and put together. There’s absolutely no way that these layoffs were Dan’s sole creation from 4 weeks ago. I’m positive Dan voted for the move, along with the other board members, back when this was originally conceived and decided. This isn’t something you just cook up over a 3-day weekend.
Dan is doing what he should do in this situation and that’s simply taking accountability for the direction that VZ is heading for. That’s what good leaders do. It also won’t hurt that Dan will be much more effective in selling these changes to the street.
This really su-ks for everyone; I know because it happened to me in 2019. I’m praying for everyone that has or will be impacted. I have friends and family that are patiently waiting (not sleeping) for tomorrow’s meetings.
Good luck and peace.

GNT Thread

I work in GNT, below is what I’m hearing as of 10:30EST on 11/19. Please share what you are hearing in the comments.

  1. If your AD is getting cut, your ED will notify your AD first thing tomorrow morning, and then notify ICs on the AD’s team. Depending on your ED, they may give the AD the option to call ICs if the AD would like to make those calls themselves.
  2. If your AD is not getting cut, they will get a list after 5pm today and they will start making calls at 8am tomorrow. They may not send calendar invites, so don’t infer anything from that.
  3. Once everyone is notified, your AD (or ED if your AD is impacted) will set up a call with the survivors.
  4. This isn’t just layoffs, it’s also a major restructuring. Markets will be merged. I’m hearing that there will be restructuring/reorganization beyond markets being merged, but I haven’t heard any details.

This su-ks. It has been poorly managed. I’m sorry for everyone who will be impacted, and I’m sorry for survivors who are already spread thin and will be expected to take on inhumane levels of work. Each one of you deserves better than this. Be nice to your colleagues, give everyone a little extra grace, and make sure you have everyone’s contact info on your personal phone.

Unfortunately there will be more in 1Q 2026

Its not over... even for those that survive this round. Keep your resumes and profiles updated and possibly, start looking.

Dan is the true hatchet man and only cares about the bottom line. He's gonna squeeze that extra $0.50 per share out come he-l or high water.

Stay strong people...

Net earnings of $19b isn't enough?

It's all about bumping the stock so the execs get their "rewards"

Given hatchet man has been on the board for 7yrs he deserves as much "credit" for the stupid cr-p that's gone on than anybody.

Now he comes to save the day? It's all about the Benjamins, hatchet and his buddies will make serious bank while many people have their lives close to being ruined.

Good luck to all getting the "hatchet" on Thursday.

Q used be be better than this

Q used be be better than this.

i really mean it. Unfortunately no one is going to try to fix. some says 'leave company'. but those are just less than 5 or 10 yrs. and yes CA really need to do something about middle managers than asking all these useless feedback thing.

i see a lot of ppls to have zero loyal to this company but money.

Be cautious.

Be cautious of what you take from this forum -- there is a bias. People paranoid, with a negative mindset, or disgruntled are more likely to be on here -- that should be obvious.
Additionally anyone can post on here -- and if a Chinese group went through the trouble hack into the company, then this is low hanging fruit for any country that wants to cause chaos in the US economy. Just pop on an anonymous forum, and spew off rumors about upcoming layoffs -- incredibly easy way to manipulate the stock market.

Converse Layoffs?

It’s disheartening to hear what’s happening with the converse team being left hanging with their fingers crossed and no clue what, who, or when, layoffs will impact. Why do this for so long dragging it out with no communication? Folks in VP and director level seats seem to be the problem and the real contributors are disregarded and silenced. Things aren’t looking good.

1-N Ranking

That's how it was done people... someone up your chain had to do this.

"Give me a ranking of your employees."

Be prepared, some groups are going away entirely and some groups could lose 50% of the team.

"You have 10 people? Make it work with 5." -- Dan

People, sadly, it doesn't matter if you're an excellent employee with great reviews and work ethic. Dan has relegated people to simply being a number. X number of X are getting whacked. I wish I could say this wasn't true, but it is.

Constant re-orgs with no direction

Anyone else on a team that has a leadership change every few months and given very little direction? Seems like people are constantly disappearing and we’re all expected to work in a “matrix” environment which basically means the manager has no clue what you work on and is not expected to provide you direction on projects so there’s no one to provide support…and these are all being framed as efficiency changes which I have seen no efficiency at all

What's with the silence?

Can somebody please explain why they're being so cagy with information? What would it hurt to provide us with some clarity? What do they gain by keeping us in the dark, other than reducing productivity and further eroding morale that has already hit rock bottom?

Blessing in disguise?

Layoffs?!? Layoffs?!? That’s impossible. I was told by reliable sources at the corporate update that no layoffs were “planned.” Crazy coincidence the layoffs that were not planned just happen to have occurred the week after the Impact roadshow. What are the odds? To be fair to Rick though technically he wasn’t lying. True Layoffs only come from the Layoff region in France. All other layoffs are just sparkling white Reorgs. Seriously, though good luck to those affected. It’s a blessing in disguise.
