Layoff Rumors Continue

Since November, there have been persistent rumors of a significant layoff, with Boston CG frequently mentioned as being involved. Nothing ultimately came of it following our November earnings call, but the rumors resurfaced later, with speculation that decisions were finalized by mid-January. This week, our CEO shared a company-wide video stressing that the next 90 days are critical, which would carry us through the end of tax season. Beyond that, the outlook is unclear.

Morale among the ICs and M2/3s I’ve spoken with is low, even outside of MTV HQ. There’s constant pressure to move faster while priorities shift rapidly, and leadership has increasingly been framing Human Intelligence HI as if it were a newly discovered idea and the act of thinking.

And noncore areas that are not aligned to growth, including legacy areas are being significantly reduced and/or eliminated and that includes areas such as business wireline, nondirectional products, technology as well, wholesale, legacy copper and voice platforms and even projects with too long of a payback. So the team has done a great job in finding unit cost efficiency as we build both in wireless and in fiber, cost for prem pass, et cetera. So there's a lot of good work being there, and that helps us get to a lower CapEx envelope, but we're very focused on being very efficient with our capital deployment this year

Q3 Bingo Card

Before the DXC Q3 earnings call begins grab your DXC Bullsh-t Bingo card and listen closely for the following phrases:
“Strategic realignment under the new brand”
"AI-enabled transformation”
“Strong pipeline”
“More to come as the brand matures”
“We’re pleased with the progress”

Q4 '25 Earnings

Looking forward to the earnings call. Can we reach 600k customers loss in a year? Blows my mind that failed leadership is not held accountable. Maybe we can have another Kevin Hart commercial where VZ leadership laughs at the competition who are taking all of our customers.

Dan's Comments on Downsizing (VZ-Q3-2025-earnings_call)

“Aggressively sunset or exit legacy businesses”
Timestamp: 0:19:06 to 0:20:17

“While we narrow our focus to invest in key growth areas, we will also aggressively sunset or exit legacy businesses where we don't see a clear path to profitable market leadership. We have a large opportunity to unleash meaningful margin improvement by doing so, and we will talk about this in more detail in January.”

“Divest and exit legacy businesses”
Timestamp: 0:28:31 to 0:29:35

“We’re going to do a hard look at portfolio rationalization and divest and exit legacy businesses where we don’t see a clear path to profitability.”

“Simpler, leaner, scrappier business” and “aggressively reducing our entire cost base”
Timestamp: 0:17:56 to 0:19:06

“We will be a simpler, leaner, and scrappier business. This work is overdue and will be multi-year and an ongoing way of life for us… We will fund these investments by aggressively reducing our entire cost base.”

“Portfolio optimization”
Timestamp: 0:43:32 to 0:44:19

“We have parts of our business that are costing us billions of dollars of margin, and I think we can think much more clearly about how do we invest in growth areas and divest or exit those that are not that for us. We'll spend more time on that in January…”

“Everything is on the table for us”
Tony Skiadas CFO – Timestamp: 0:46:32 to 0:47:12

“We're looking at everything, and everything is on the table for us. It also entails being very efficient with our capital spend.”

Earnings Call - 1 Divestiture Per Quarter through next year

So CIBC analyst asked around the pace:
"How should we kind of think about the cadence of divestitures over the next several quarters here as you look to divest 15%-20% of the overall revenue? Yeah, that's a great question. We've been grappling with that and talking to Steve about the right way to do it. Clearly, there are multiple business units here that are non-core. I think what you'll see is we'll establish a pace of doing one per quarter because it does take a lot of effort."...." I think you will see us generally be done within the next year. "

So sounds like 4-5 major sell offs of units...trying to read the tea leaves, who are the top 4-5 targets? Guessing anything non "Content" is fair game but could be individual products under Business Network ITOM, Cyber (Ent), Cyber (SMB/Consumer), ADM and Analytics. Who has the best guess here?

Verizon CEO sounds alarm on why customers are leaving in droves - TheStreet Updated November 1, 2025

New Verizon CEO flags reasons why customers are leaving Amid its customer struggles, on Oct. 6, Verizon named Dan Schulman as the new CEO of the company, replacing Hans Vestberg. During an earnings call on Oct. 29, Schulman said that Verizon is "clearly falling short" of its potential. "We are not delivering the shareholder returns our investors expect," said Schulman. "Despite investing significantly in network leadership, we have not been able to translate that into winning in the market." He also said that there are four reasons why Verizon is losing customers: price increases, friction in the customer experience, negative value perception and intense competition in the telecom industry. Related: Verizon angers customers with new tactic to boost loyalty Schulman emphasized that Verizon needs to "aggressively transform" its culture and financial profile by being more "customer-centric and executing with financial discipline with a focus on shareholder value." He also admitted that recent price hikes were a bad idea.

D-Day next week!

The Q3 call will be a disaster as most quarterly calls have been since i left. Capt Clown will then go on about re-invention and how 'the street' is believing in the re-invention. LOL
Friend who is still there told me that Xerox isn't paying any bills until the new year. Probably won't have cash for payroll. Rest assured the SLT will get their bonuses and probably a raise. Congratulations to Steve, Louie, Miranda and all involved, you can celebrate running an ICON into the ground.

Q3 Earnings Call

I made two observations.

1) They spent a lot of time apologizing and saying they empathize with the employees and then go back to saying controversial things like we need layoffs even though we’re doing well and not providing any details on why layoffs are necessary y

2) A majority of questions asked on the chat as well as all the live questions were asked by people from the Indian subcontinent. I don’t look forward to another debate about Indians va the world but I wonder why we Germans don’t talk when we get a chance and instead we complain when people from other cultures are proactive.
