Frustrated Again

Seeing some deserved promotions, but more undeserved. Seeing quite a few people keep their jobs when I haven’t seen them complete a project in over 2 years. Here we go again.

Start the bets

How many teams will change name and acronyms? Which seems to be the most critical part of any re-org. We are all good as long as the function has a new name.

Convos

Any 15 min Sport Offense Activation Touchbases happen yet? Lateral shifts only? Anyone have a 15 minute TB and a geo shift? Hoping for some good news here LOL

Watch your LinkedIn feed

Pretty soon it’s gonna be filled with promotion posts from people tone-deaf enough to celebrate while others are getting laid off or pushed into roles they don’t even want

Team Layoffs

Interested to hear which orgs are doing layoffs this round. This is just exhausting!!

30mins calendar invite with HR and VP

I got a calendar invite for 30mins EOD at 5pm and it’s for 30mins. I haven’t experienced layoffs before. Any advice to what I should expect going into this would be helpful. What does a typical layoff calendar invite title look like?

Old Timers Options Worthless

It used to be that options after ten years would be worth more than your salary each year. Now, fear getting fired and letting go of options for zero. Many execs have lost millions in the last five years. What a sad story'

Take comfort in the fact that..

EH is somewhere out there crying up a storm at the fact that he has to cut you loose tomorrow. Reflect on the toll these layoffs have on your CEO.. Poor JD lost a whole pound of flesh last year. That’s all….

Severance Payments

does anyone know when severance is paid? is it on your final paycheck or does it come after? if it comes after, how much longer after? how long until accelerated stock vesting takes effect? doesn't seem like any of this was answered in the faq

What happens this week

Most senior leaders already know their roles. Some were informed months ago, others more recently. Mid-level managers were notified last week about changes to their teams below a certain level. They received updated reporting structures and job... — read more

Layoffs next week?

That’s what the rumors are pointing to, maybe for some of us. It’s really hard to make sense of what’s going on. This “restructuring” doesn’t feel structured at all from where we sit as regular employees. A bit of clear communication would go a long... — read more

Part of the 1%

Good luck everyone. I was part of the 1% who got laid off today. I was expecting a re-org but the layoff was very unexpected. I still believe in Nike, and hope to come back.

It feels random

I can’t stop wondering what’s really going on behind the scenes when it comes to layoffs. Who decides which teams are safe and which ones get cut? Is it performance, politics, or just random numbers on a spreadsheet? It's like no one knows what logic... — read more

When did we normalize layoffs?

And why? Layoffs happening this often shouldn’t feel so acceptable. We hear about them, stress through them, move on for a month (or two if we’re lucky), and then rinse and repeat. How did we let things get so very, very wrong?

Nike to lay off about 1% of corporate staff

Nike is planning to lay off less than 1% of its corporate staff. The move is part of CEO Elliott Hill’s efforts to realign how teams are structured across the business. Under Nike’s former CEO, the business was segmented into women’s, men’s... — read more

What's worse?

The idea of being laid off, or being stuck at Nike in this culture and environment for years to come? There was a time when this would have been a no-brainer. Now, I honestly can’t tell which I dread more. If the job market were any better, I’d... — read more
