Retirement Package possibility?
Heard a rumor retirement packages may be offered next quarter along with a possible rift targeting MS in dmos5. Anyone heard anything?
In dificult times like these...(Long read)
I am reminded that we each have a little Karl Marx in us. For someone who is far from a Marx fan, let alone apologist, something inside kinda understands his view point.
How could I not in a world where there will soon be a trillionaire, and we are hearing news that the economy grew 4.3% in a country where months even years go on without adequate employment. For some, being unemployed in a so called best country in the world is hard to grasp, especially if you are able bodied, and willing and want to work.
If you are in precarious situation like so many, where variables that allow for adequate employment such as skills, right training/education, and employers willing to add to their personnel are lacking, news that GDP and the economy growing appear to be a mirage.
This is not whining, but rather a desperate realization that this is the new reality setting in. For so many we have to contend with the fact that sitting in an office, engaging in PI planning sessions, sizing stories, pushing code through production is going to be a thing of the past.
The hiring in today's job environment is happening in areas that people in third world countries would laugh at. I'm talking about jobs that would barely help you pay your mortgage. Jobs that sooner or later will have you dip into your retirement accounts out of desperation because savings have eroded.
I wonder if Karl Marx knew how to count to one trillion. Because as the great book says, those who have abundance will have abundance aplenty, and those who have no two pennies to rub together will continue to have nothing. So many of us are in this last group.
Why only an Extension?
Why is the union negotiating for an extension? Why not get a new contract. They have to fix retiree Healthcare. Then the union should try to get everyone a pension or at very least a bump in the match in 401K plans.
Layoff and rule of 55
For those of you that were laid off, or left, after age 55, does the 401k plan offer partial distribution or only lump sum? The SPD doesn't mention. Fidelity states partial is allowed, but says it can't provide documentation since it "could" change.
Union negotiations so now it begins it’s all been planned
As I said months ago they already have a contract extension in place .Both sides just needed to make it look like there was so much between them.As though so much hard work had to be done .Now they sell us the bag that’s filled with you know what. They will say man we made progress it was a tough fight and this is what we got .So I think retirees best not get their hopes up the cost of the health is not reverting. The only hope you have is a cap of some sort. The raises will be just enough to cover the medical increase for active workers. The company as you know wants to wack the disability down so there goes that when the majority of us now at at a point we may need it.So here’s to 2026 best of luck brothers.Lets just hope they don’t sell out the lump for the pension carriers maybe they throw us a bone with another paid holiday like June 19
I have a plan not like Dan
After working for this company for over 30 years. I plan to have a lot of FAMILY time during this period.
I sacrificed valuable time just like many others and in return what did we get? Dancing Dan, what a joke he is. You'll soon find out.

Four years to go
I am close to retirement, but constant cuts have made every day feel uncertain. I can’t believe that the final years of my career will be constant stress and anxiety about cuts. Getting through that will be harder than it should, but there ain’t much I can do about it.
Another one gone
Another Frankie c-suiter is leaving. Chris Augustine is retiring. I wonder if it was by choice? Word is another Indian from FIG is taking his place.
Recommendations for wealth management since leaving
I know this is not the best place to get good feedback, however I am finding it difficult to get "honest" input anywhere. For those that have left, or are still with the company , any recommendations on a company (The Retirement Group, Quotient Wealth, Fidelity, or others) that can help to navigate and manage pension, 401K, etc? I am not savvy in this area and would like some help until I am confident to do it on my own or keep it longer term with support. I think a fiduciary is important. Please just helpful comments and maybe that is asking too much on this site. Thank you.

Why Admins retiring Annandale?
Seems like 6 Admins retiring at same time, one with 52 years and one with 51 years others with 30+ years. Those seem like amazingly loyal employees and all leaving st same time. Coincidence?
Just checking on retirees
How is everyone holding up after being deceived and cheated out of their rightful pensions?
I firmly believe that the elite members of the Mars family will eventually get what they truly deserve in life and beyond.
Ageism 100%
I am 62 with nearly 32 years at Verizon. I was the only person who knew and understood what I did. I planned on another 3 to 5 years of working, but Verizon put me into early retirement. I am not angry with my direct management as they seemed to have been just as surprised I was part of the RIF. I completely believe that HR was given a directive from Dan to first target those 55 and older, then move to others. I only know a few people that are of retirement age who were able to stay. Everyone else in my age group got the boot without direct managements input. I am fortunate enough to have planned for an early retirement so I won’t be looking for a new job, but I feel for my colleagues that must continue working. Hans made horrible decisions and now Dan wants to come in and “fix” the problems.. Dan was/is on the Board of Directors and would have approved what Hans did .. personally I think the entire Board should be fired. Verizon was good to me for many years until Hans became CEO and things started going downhill. Best of luck to all of you and hope you have fulfilled futures
Retirement Target
What is your number for amount saved to retire and associated age to retire?
Reorgs
For what it’s worth, I’m a retired PEP guy who unfortunately had to participate in a few layoffs. In the five or six major ones I went through I can NEVER recall looking at specific salaries or ranges. You normally were just given a target, and they were worth a generic amount (I.e.. an L-8 is worth $x, a Band1 is worth $y, etc.). Doesn’t make it any more humane or appropriate, but just sharing that unless things have changed in the past few years you don’t need to stress specifically on what your exact salary amount is. Good luck to all.
Retirement eligible
Anybody have any idea the percentage of IBMers are retirement eligible per site?
Berkley Heights NJ
I see people relocated to berkley heights from all other states including countries, for what? for their stock value to drop over 70% , work in the noisy office 9 hours 3 days, and waste time, most of the products are legacy and need atleast 7 to 10 people to keep them running, no innovation, and they make it look as if they are one of those trillion $ companies like Faang or Nvidia, VP's and SVP's just satisying egos , giving 1- 2 % increments to people working 12 hours a day to keep the lights on, That is fiserv. product managers non stop talking from 8 to 8 with zero innovation, and knowledge , may be they wanna retire here doing mundane work.
Retirement RIF Bonus
I ended up being part of the November RIF at Optum, which actually worked out in my favor thanks to my team lead. I had already told my manager in September that I was planning to retire in October. She let me know about the upcoming layoffs and suggested rating me at the bottom of the team’s performance list—even though I always score highly—to ensure I got the severance package if selected. It was a risk, but it meant I was part of the RIF in November. Big thanks to Optum for essentially providing me with a six-month retirement bonus! Nice to see they are not verifing the information provided to them for RIF selection. Truely an indication of how good upper management is really doing.
December Surplus
I will hopefully be surplussed on December 15th and thus will be leaving the company with 104 weeks pay. Afterwards I'll collect unemployment for as long as I can. Then I'll start taking my legacy pension, my 401k distributions and my social security. Meanwhile I will continue doing the least amount of work i can get away with without getting fired all while lmfao.
Retirement Payout Selection Choice
Retired / Surplus AT&T Managers, when did you have to choose Lump vs. annuity at separation? The day of your exit package, or sometime later?
My supervisor didn't know and I can't seem to find this info on HR One Stop.
Thanks!
For Pete’s sake, retire!
I know it’s easy to point fingers when things are not going well but where was our fearless leader 2025?
While the ship was sinking in 2025, he was no where to be found.
From the start, he took care of all his friends regardless of whether they had the experience or not to work the position.
This is the same guy who told us nothing would change when we were transitioned over to CUSA other than our email. He said it would be a good move for the company to help align support. Can anyone still employed at Canon USA (formerly CSA) say things have improved with the transition?
When he felt intimidated, he created useless buffers by promoting his old friends from Chicago. When he felt people were pushing him out he turned up the heat and forced them out.
Anyone could have run this company during the good times. It’s the tough times that show who the true leaders are. It’s safe to say our leader played and hide and go seek for this entire year. Maybe someone should tell him the game is over and it’s time to leave Melville and buy a one way ticket back to Chicago.
Good luck Mason, it’s safe to say you inherited a mess at the hands of your colleague.
Leadership Change
Those of you saying that without a leadership change this won’t be a big deal. Steve Llewellyn‘s retirement was announced Friday. John Dean is coming to Frito US from Beverages.
That’s probably the first domino. Since it’s PEPNA, that’s the US and Canada. Prob some realignment and HQ roles being shifted to GBS
Retirement Benefits......HA!
RIF'd after 29 years with company.
I'm retirement eligible, but there are absolutely ZERO retirement BENEFITS!!
Seriously.....extremely high healthcare costs, and a 25% disc on cell service.
That's an insult to any employee that stuck around this sh---y company for so long!!
DO NOT WASTE YOUR CAREER HERE....LEAVE NOW!!!
My last day on payroll is the 19th. I’m eligible for Medicare. Why would anyone pay for Verizon’s expensive retiree medical insurance?
What am I not seeing?
Retirement Plan vesting period
Seems like it's a 3 year vesting period to own 100% of the retirement plan contributions by TIAA. Let's say I started the company and my first official start date was in January 1 2023, would that mean if I quit on January 2, 2026 I get to keep the full amount? Or is it based on hours worked? Also, is the retirement plan vesting pro-rated, or would I lose all of the money if I leave before 3 years?
Tech
My service position was eliminated after 37 1/2 years! I was planning on retiring in a few years, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise! I landed a great job that respected my field service experience with far better pay! I wished Ricoh had laid me off years before!
The grass IS greener, if your not actively looking to leave Ricoh, you should be! I wasted way to many years in this dying industry.
Unpaid Leave – Bridge to Retirement
Anyone else seeing this in their SAP profile? "Unpaid Leave – Bridge to Retirement" for time? What exactly does that mean? I mean I got the over 55 and over 10 years of service, but is that just some admin limbo status placeholder? or does it actually mean something? Someone told me that at one time, even if a person was RAd, they got like 2K blue points, but I don't see anything about that anywhere. I also in vacation/PTO calendar its all approved until the end of the year.
For those not in Sales - explain today??
I’m from the FLNA side but not in sales… so can folks explain why today’s Steve Llewelyn retirement news and John Dean promotion is good or bad? The context would be so appreciated for those of us not in sales. Thanks y’all.
5-Day RTO: Requirement for Working Remotely
Can someone please explain two (2) things…
(1) What requirement(s) must be met to work remotely?
(2) Why the heck hasn’t it been published on “The Source”?
Is Truist hiding something by NOT publicizing OR being transparent about the requirement(s)? It’s a really simple question! It baffles me that HR & Truist Execs have deliberately chosen to complicate and/or avoid the answer. Why isn’t this basic question included in the FAQs?!?!
3 years since the big retirement
Today marks the 3-year anniversary.

Those of you who retired then and still visit this site, can you share and reflect on how your life has been since you retired? Any regrets? Any advice for those of us close to retirement?
How many do you think are moving to Houston, TX from California?
How many do you think are moving to Houston, TX from California?
I know of a few people that are g concerned regarding selling their house in the Danville,CA area. This is a tough market to sell a house.
I took the package and I am retiring. Not sure I want to stay in this area. However, perhaps it is better to just move versus being constantly reminded about the presence Chevron previously had in the area.
For anyone who was recently let go, and also eligible for retirement
- Were you given the opportunity to retire, and collect your SERMA if you had one.
- If you did the retirement route, did you also collect whatever weeks of severance that were being offered at the time.
I'm ready to retire after 30 years. I'd hate to wait for whatever package may be offered only to find out I'd be sc--wed out of my SERMA. I'd rather not pose this question to HR.
Thanks.
Pension funds
Has anyone received there Pension?
I used to think I’d retire at Fido, but that dream evaporated fast
The constant reshuffles and unclear future make any retirement plan a joke. At this point I’m planning for options outside the company.
Happy thanksgiving
This is my last thanksgiving as an employee. Effectively retiring in January. There’s been many ups and downs throughout the years and friends that have come and gone. Though it’s not the place and environment I started with I’d do it all over again. Good luck to those that are left with the upcoming changes, I hope it works out for the best when it’s all said and done.
If I have any advice..:.don’t dwell on what you think could happen down the road. Work and live in the now and someday you wake up 37 years later and it’s all behind you.
