With American tech sector shedding another hundred thousand + jobs this year, what is a techie supposed to do next? Since the planet is on course for a war, how hard is it for civilians to work in the military? Sigint is one of my specialties
Thus is probably a week they announce more layoffs
Kate always likes to do it around the end of a month so they can avoid paying benefits to those RIFed for another month. Have to save money for the next friend of hers to hire for a senior level role, or the next Brene Brown boondoggle training.
Worried about layoffs?
You're not powerless. You can certainly fight back.
The whole point of the layoffs are to keep the already struggling Cigna stock value up. The goal of this is to please investors and because the CEO, David Cordani, is payed mostly in stocks (no really, look it up on the SEC website).
If you are an employee you might have a 401k. A 401k is a collection of stocks used for retirement. Your 401k likely has at least one fund invested mostly in Cigna stock. When you are layed off, or maybe even before, transfer those Cigna funds to something else/better. Your retirement account will be better invested and you have undone any stock benefit of them laying you off.
Post Review Layoffs
Are more layoffs expected to come post annual reviews in February?
And Again the Layoffs Occur
This company is in a constant state of laying people off. Shipping jobs now to India. That will evidently solve all of their problems.
Nice job in giving jobs to another country. You sure your customers will be ok with that especially knowing your pal is the one you’re doing business with? Conflict of interest I would say.
We know what is going on and what goes around comes around.
Linkedin BS
Pure sick looking at LinkedIn and everyone's promotions nearly all VP, Senior VP, Directors and Senior Directors. Not saying theyre not deserved I'm sure some of them are, but when you sit in a location closing later this year, knowing that other locations in the UK and Ireland closing, seeing people boasting (the same people who work from some of these locations but know their jobs are safe) its just disgusting.
Think another package is possible?
Rumor has it..... I have heard a bunch of stuff. Layoffs? Anyone? Cant say no because there is no money. We never had money...LOL
Pull Out You’re Bingo Cards Boys & Girls
Mark the spot for more layoffs are coming!!!
2026 will be brutal.
I wish they would hurry up with the next phase
I'm not scared of layoffs anymore, I'm waiting for them. Show me the money and I'll happily leave and never look back.
I'm tired of always worrying about layoffs
That's it. That's all I wanted to say.
Another layoff?
Did they do another layoff? I’ve just seen a few posts on LinkedIn saying they were laid off due to a re-org!
When people ask why some of us are still here
I hate the company culture and all the layoffs, but I have a fantastic manager and great coworkers. That's so rare and it's the only reason I'm still here. I don't want to risk that, even with everything else.
Kaseya layoffs 2026
Miami-based tech company Kaseya cut 250 jobs in another layoff round that represented 5% of its global workforce.
Chief Communications Officer Xavier Gonzalez told the Business Journal the layoffs were part of a go-to-market realignment that began Jan. 5 following what he described as a "very strong end to 2025."

Is there a point in trying to get a job at Amazon anymore?
I've always wanted to work at Amazon and I've been applying for a while, but with all the cuts, I'm starting to think there's no point in it anymore. I don't want to leave a somewhat safe position to start a new job even if it is my dream job just to be laid off within months.
This forum used to be so active when I was still at Molina
What's happening there? Did layoffs just stop in the last few years? I'm having trouble believing that, but anything is possible, I guess.
Calling in Sick
This week as I am hearing it’s going to be bad. Might as well use some sick time
Remember when jobs were secure?
I miss when you could feel somewhat safe in your position. Layoffs were rare. Now it's constant. I just want that basic security back.
Acquisition review due to the "potential for more layoffs"
"We respectfully urge the Commission to conduct a thorough investigation into the labor market consequences of this proposed acquisition, including EA’s existing wage-setting power, the likelihood of post-transaction layoffs, the degree of labor-market concentration in relevant geographic and occupational markets, and the role of cross-ownership in shaping labor outcomes," the letter read.

More cuts coming soon?
Do we think there will be another wave of job cuts? Sometimes it seems like the goal is to eliminate every position here.
Major operational changes and closures
- Macy’s recently faced a decline in sales and foot traffic in its stores.
- The department store chain is making drastic changes as it struggles with weak consumer demand.
- Macy's is mirroring a rising workforce trend that's turning heads.

Everything is broken right now
The layoffs shattered our workflow and teams don't talk. Management has no vision beyond cutting costs. We're completely stuck and it's so demoralizing.
From dread to desire
It's sad, but I've gone from fearing layoffs to wanting one. The company has lost all the respect it once had for its workers. I don't recognize this place anymore and I want out.
Can profits stop job cuts?
Serious question: has strong performance ever actually stopped a round of layoffs from happening? It seems like they happen no matter what.
Oracle Announces Bay Area Job Cuts
Oracle is implementing job cuts across its San Francisco Bay Area operations. A total of 254 positions will be eliminated in this latest round. These cuts affect facilities in Redwood City, Pleasanton, and Santa Clara. Roles within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and AI/machine learning projects are impacted. This action is part of a broader company cost-cutting initiative.

I bet they got rid of more senior folks this round too
It makes no sense to fire your most valuable workers to cut costs but here we are again.
The pattern is too clear to ignore
Look at the steps: centralize, lay off, outsource. They're clearly building a system to replace the US based work with cheaper options. The new tools are designed so lower skill workers can do it. We're being managed out.
Bye, bye sports desk
The Washington Post pulled the plug on its Winter Olympics coverage just two weeks before the opening ceremony. Layoffs are expected. And now, according to Puck’s Dylan Byers, rumors inside the newsroom suggest the sports desk itself could be on the chopping block, with the foreign desk also facing deep cuts.

Think twice before moving for this job
A friend was offered a promotion with a move recently, and I'll say here what I told him. Even with a promotion, moving for this company is a terrible idea. Layoffs are hitting everyone, and you'd be putting your family through a lot for a job that might not last. I wouldn't do it. In fact, I think it's the stupidest move somebody could make right now.
Start at the top with cuts
If they really need to save money, they should look at the overpaid directors and VPs who contribute nothing. So many managers here are terrible at leading people. Letting them go would be a positive.
I'm a bit confused
Is the latest round over or is it just getting started? With no officials numbers on how many were cut so far, it's hard to tell.
Hoping for a quiet week
Is there any possibility we get through the next week without bad news? I'm just hoping for a single, normal week without any stressful announcements or layoffs.
This is not sustainable
There’s no way to maintain mental health when layoffs happen back to back with no breathing room. We can’t relax or focus on our work because we know it’s never over, and more cuts are always coming in a few weeks. This is mental torture, plain and simple.
Athens County JFS Reduces Workforce
Athens County Job and Family Services will eliminate five positions. This action addresses cashflow challenges and state debt. Three of the layoffs impact the Child Support Enforcement Agency. An agency administrator expressed concerns to county commissioners. Commissioners voted to proceed with the staff reductions.

401k withdrawals during layoff uncertainty
Do you think it is best to stop 401k withdrawal with the layoff uncertainty?
Only manufacturing
If you are salary or overhead, you are at a great risk in 2026 for a layoff. If you do not actually make product you need to be looking for something else.
Our engineers have limited career spans. We do not design anything of interest or significance. Not like we work for Boeing, NASA, Lockheed, and a company where engineers do really interesting and high-tech work. We design electric drills. Boring...
Take my advice and have your resume ready. Get to know people that work at real companies. Be prepared do deal with a layoff.
Meta Discontinues Austin Gaming Operations - Lays Off Staff

GNC to Cease Phoenix Operations
GNC will permanently close its distribution warehouse. This facility is located in southwest Phoenix. The closure will eliminate a total of 66 jobs. GNC issued a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification on January 7. More than 60 workers will be laid off.
