There seem to be tons of new Java requirements being posted in past few weeks. I suspect these are a waste of time requisitions, something to do with H1 or to show they are hiring. Even HR calls on these are a bit goofy than usual. Something is going on with the whole IT job listings. Hope it gets back to some normalcy and not just random games played around. Some really deserving candidates are struggling due to these job games....

Confused
I'm a people leader and I'm being told by my SVP and EVP I must hire only from the GCC. I can't help but feel like this is some what discrimatory , shouldn't I be able to hire who is best for the job? Not just only from the GCC? So I'm being forced to hire from the GCC all while managers onshore that look like they came from the GCC only hires ppl that also reflect people from the GCC. What is happening?
Locked out of internal roles
I was part of the July layoffs in CX. When TJ was reading from the hostage video script she made it clear that “it had nothing to do with your performance” and it was based on needs of the business
Fast forward two more months and I have applied on multiple roles I am more than qualified for. I come to learn there is a flag in the system that shows if you are part of an impacted universe. In other words “we are laying this person off, do not hire them”
I am assuming this type of discrimination is not legal?
Laborers still taking over service track?
Anybody have laborers taking over service track still on BNSF? Hire more and more laborers but no actual craft employees can’t help but think home location is going to turn into a fuel and go have lots traffic in and out of yard especially with interchange with other class one and intermodal. For whatever reason the company isn’t hiring any more craft. Thoughts?
LinkedIn is telling
So many Cengage openings being posted, and so many people posting their farewells. Cengage is looking bleak. ET freaking out about salesforce and the lack of pipeline. NK still thinks things are steady and stable and is in disbelief- that’s what you get for firing everyone who are not yes people and are living in reality telling you that reality.
Offshore
Why most hires in india wont code and just do confluence updates . Are they hired as per ppl manager friendships
Teradata hiring (Indian bias)
Over the past year and a half, many White and Asian leaders in Engineering and Product have been forced out --- while many new leadership come from the same Indian background. Layoffs seem to disproportionately affect non-Indian engineers, while new VPs and Senior Directors who are all Indian -- hire predominantly from their own communities.
I hope HR is reviewing the promotion, and layoff data objectively. Engineers from every background are equally capable, talented, and hardworking. Everyone deserves a fair and equal opportunity, regardless of ethnicity or background.
What is happening at Teradata now --- is not fair.
Dummy requisitions or H1 sponsorship?
For namesake there seem to be plenty of requirements posted and many say multiple openings.
- Not even a call on many. You just get a rejection letter.
- Some requirements are so fine tuned as if they are not interested in selecting anyone rather trying to reject outright.
- Some you get call from HR. Interview goes really well, but hmmm no response for further steps.
- Some requirements there are folks on the call who seem to be he-l bent on proving how hard the role is and how they seem stuck on one technical question that they are familiar with.
- Covid might have pushed a lot of undeserving candidates up the chain and they act as if they run the company :-) . No common sense, no professional attitude. Just folks who were lucky to be in that position...thats all.
If these were labor filings, why waste others time?
If these were internal rotations why waste others time?
If they dont need candidates why do they keep raising hopes only to disappoint?
External applicants
Are external applicants ever seriously considered for roles? And is HCSC even hiring right now or are the job postings all fake? Mixes messages as our department says there is a hiring freeze yet new jobs are posted daily.
No H1b hiring ?
Should Oracle be barred from H-1B hiring for two years after these massive layoffs?

New leadership hires are terrible
All these leadership hires from GM and Stellantis are d-mb as rocks. So tired of them telling long time employees how brilliant their prior company was and how d-mb Ford is. And the GM Club can stop snickering about our decisions, systems, etc. It wasn't too long ago they were fired from their old company. If they were so talented, they wouldn't be here. Go back to where you came from!
Finding Sales & Marketing Talent
Hi folks,
After almost 19 years at Cengage, I'm now happily working with a smaller publisher. I need to fill some open roles in Sales & Marketing at the individual contributor and leadership levels. Any suggestions on where to find the best Sales & Marketing talent that might fit well with a smaller org? What job sites do you tend to use?
The "post and pray" approach on LinkedIn and similar doesn't seem to be great--I'm getting a lot of "easy apply" resumes that aren't super relevant. Meanwhile, I see on sites like this one that layoffs at Cengage (and competitors) continue, so I'm looking for any suggestions on where/how to more actively find Sales & Marketing talent. I've already hit up my own network directly; looking for any advice on additional avenues to pursue...
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Portland Schools Rehires Half of Recently Laid-Off Educators
Portland Public Schools has recalled 43 of the 87 teachers who were laid off at the end of the last school year. These educators have been offered either full-time or part-time positions within the district. Recalls typically happen over the summer due to retirements or other staff changes. However, some classrooms still have substitute teachers, creating uncertainty for students and families. The district is working to fill these remaining vacancies according to union contract rules.

Reservoir engineer job?
Hi all,
I am looking for reservoir engineer job and saw many job posts by Exxon at the same time i am seeing too many people leaving the company. I am not sure what is going on. Is the unconventional teams are doing good and keep hiring or like all departments in the company. Thank you.
New hires
Any other new hires struggling to acclimate? Can anyone share thoughts on what it’s like coming in as an external hire?
Took Vsp- my job is now posted
I just kinda had a feeling I’d be let go, if not then.. eventually. Well my job along with others is posted. We had been told that we were in jeporday.. which is still being told to the remaining teams… confused on why they would repost a position that is already struggling.
The markets love us
The energy in the office is incredible. We are hiring so many that HR can't keep up
Our stock price is heading up due to all the new customers
There are zero layoffs on the horizon as our CEO said on the town hall
Why are we hiring?
Seems like it will only last a moment
Then bye-bye
It will not happen at least next 3 weeks
Quarterly results were good but still stock price didn’t go up. Layoffs will happen when market sentiment improves and Oracle will trade off human capital against stock gains.
They will hire again as they need to deliver.
They can always hire cheap and train on repetitive process. New hire will always put extra hours and will try to prove as much as possible.
October anniversary
The new job postings are out there.
Lots of level 6 positions.
What are the chances that general motors acts predictably in October?
What will happen to the level 7s?

Just sending my resume everywhere
Has anyone else reached the point where they're applying to basically anything just hoping something sticks? I've sent out 146 resumes and I know I have the skills, so I don't understand why nothing is happening.
H1B and H4 Ead: Unfair Hiring and Favoritism for Easy Roles*
It's sad how companies don't want to see why all the easy roles like testing etc. are going to H1b or H4 EADs... but then calling people useless, taking away our fair chances to give them to friends and relatives, and then blaming us is not right.
FYI - DHS proposing $103,265 fee for many new H-1B petitions
Bloomberg Law is reporting that DHS is proposing a new $103,265 fee for cap-subject H-1B petitions, including petitions involving workers who are already in the United States.
This is separate from the earlier $100,000 H-1B entry fee that applied primarily to workers being brought into the country. That fee was struck down by a federal judge and is currently being appealed.
A few key points:
- The proposed fee would apply to H-1B petitions subject to the annual cap.
- That includes the regular 65,000 H-1B slots and the additional 20,000 advanced-degree slots.
- Universities, hospitals and certain research institutions would be exempt under the new proposal.
- The $103,265 would be in addition to other H-1B filing costs.
- DHS estimates the fee could generate approximately $8.8 billion per year.
- The US Chamber of Commerce says the fee could make H-1B hiring cost-prohibitive for many startups and small and midsize employers.
For employers that hire significant numbers of H-1B workers, this could materially change the economics of hiring. A company hiring 10 cap-subject H-1B employees could potentially face more than $1 million in these fees alone.
This is currently a proposed rule, not a fee that has already taken effect. The Bloomberg Law report is dated August 24, 2026.
Something to watch, especially at companies that rely heavily on H-1B hiring.

Whoop Plans Significant Expansion Amid AI Job Concerns
Wearable tech company Whoop plans to hire over 600 employees in 2026, representing substantial growth. This hiring spree contrasts with recent predictions of significant job losses in Massachusetts due to AI. CEO Will Ahmed believes AI can be a "force multiplier" rather than a job displacer. The company is launching a new program to attract graduating college seniors. Whoop's expansion highlights a different perspective on the impact of artificial intelligence on the workforce.

Cigna’s hiring process and lack of communication
Is anyone else noticing that Cigna’s hiring process has become extremely tedious and lacking communication? I worked here for years and left the org to gain greater experience because as I tried to advance I was running into roadblocks with my background not being enough. I have been trying to get back in for years. I make it to the hr interviews and told I’m progressing forward. Then an interview never comes and recruiters and communication is awful on just simply telling me no. Is anyone else experiencing this?
Competitors
Are competitors paying higher than XOM for experienced hires?
layoffs with open new reqs
With the layoffs last week, I was surprised when I was in a staffing meeting and my program has 5 open reqs from level 3 to level 6 that we are interviewing for. We also have 3 offers out.
This is a fu---d up company
Hiring Pause Over
Talked to a recruiter and the pause is lifted from last month and they are recruiting again. PayPal back on track to hit 27,000. D-mb company
I feel bad for new hires
I wonder how long before their excitement will turn into the disappointment I feel.
Hiring while PIPing
We are in such a strange place right now as a company. Clearly there is a shortage of skilled workers. At the same time we are doing everything imaginable to make the skilled workers we have feel miserable and leave. We are also hiring experienced hires and college graduates. It makes zero sense. What is the goal here?
Some Tech Jobs Growth At Least
I hope this is at least a bit of good news for folks that got affected - summary & link below:
- U.S. tech employment grew by 86,000 workers in August 2026.
- Tech companies themselves cut about 14,700 jobs.
- More than 320,000 active job postings required AI-related skills.
- Employers are shifting from AI experimentation to real-world implementation.
- Nearly 600,000 tech-job openings remained active, with 42% newly posted.
- Much of the tech hiring is happening outside traditional tech companies.
- AI-related roles are rising rapidly while traditional software-development hiring is weakening.

College hires
So with all of these college hires that Sam’s have what is the plan when they all go back? Do we just have 3 per shift? Since Sam’s doesn’t want to hire anybody….anyone?
Is SCPT safe?
I saw they’ve got a few roles open. I’m thinking about reaching out and connecting with the hiring manager, what do you all think?
Burlington Stores Relocates Headquarters to Philadelphia
After over fifty years in South Jersey, Burlington Stores has announced its relocation to Philadelphia. This move is part of a significant investment totaling $370 million, supported by $30 million in state grants. The company plans to transfer 1,500 employees from New Jersey to the new headquarters and hire an additional 500 individuals. Burlington will maintain its New Jersey warehouse and distribution centers. This announcement comes as Campbell's Co. recently laid off approximately 515 employees due to declining sales.

Dear HR : Since when background checks are Not mandatory for hiring ??
Like dr-g tests/criminal history check etc.. why aren't H1B/STEM visa holders' background is not being checked IF they had maintained the 'legal status' prior to being a Fiserv employee ??
Creating fake pay stubs while on H1B with an 'uncle's garage consulting' company is not Legal. Hiring them even through Infinite is not legally approved since they already violated the H1B visa requirement ( lied to USCIS to have a paid position ).
STEM visa has a time limit. Prior long breaks make it invalid for not meeting the requirements and the individual becomes out of legal status.
