RTO vs layoffs

as a remote employee i’m surprised they haven’t asked all remote employees (yet) to return to office or resign as a first wave. that way they’d save $ with paying out severance. i know they have asked specific roles to do so but not yet company wide. i’ve been waiting for the other ball to drop since hybrid RTO

CRE or HR document links for lease terms

I understand there are no guarantees in job security and there have never been any with any private job. However, given the way RTO was implemented, how long can we assume the non-hubs can exist and folks keep working there. Is there a realistic CRE document or HR guide somewhere to see which locations are going away what year in terms of leases not renewing etc. I see Austin is a COE. Chicago and St.Louis used to be in there, but now they aren't. There are people working now in Charlotte. So, not getting any clarity on this.

Jamie Dimon’s $3 Billion Dollar Tower

If Jamie Dimon thinks that coming to office 5 Days a week is good for all of his employees then you can be sure that his bff Charlie thinks the same way. Maybe that $3 billion dollar tower on Park Avenue was built for Charlie when he takes over his 69 year old mentor’s job soon.

Being honest- 8 hrs

Okay, most are not happy about the 8 hours. I have a serious question-- are people really busy 8 hours a day every day? Honestly? My work has highs and lows, sometimes I'm working 10-12+ hours/day, but in the low times I'm working less, and not always 8 to be honest. But I make up for it during the busy times. I don't dont know how I will stay busy for 8 hours a day in the office. Do people just fake it? I'm serious. In my low times, such as now, I reach out to my manager for more work, but she's never really given anything additional. I've been here for 5 years, I do my work well always a meets or exceeds, but I just dont know what to do for 8 straight hours in the office if I'm not busy. Anyone else have the same concerns?

RTO: a massive failure

Well, we have dropped like a rock since the initial RTO 3x and are plumbing new lows with 5x. All the academics and studies are saying it’s a failure. The future workplace is remote. This is just the last gasps of a dying high cost business model. I bet in 20 years hardly any work is done in an office. Only select jobs are in person where FTF matters. But I digress, they want to preach disruption, well, enable remote options, create new products and services around it. It should be our bread and butter as we are a communications company.

Something is shady here with this 8 hr deal

If they are going to treat exempt staff like hourly employees, threatening to hurt our review and bonus, i want my overpay time pay, i work weekends and sometimes 10 hr days. If they in anyway try and threaten us i would demand to see the data, for us compared to others. I don't know what WF Legal is thinking following directions from Bridget Engle, she doesn't even have a college degree. Their legal team better be ready because there's some hungry down and dirty lawyers who would LOVE to sue the living day lights out of this place and i will be calling them up if i'm in anyway shape or form impacted by some stupid 8 hr rule.

IN OFFICE HOURS REQUIREMENT - CIC

Ok, what is the deal with the in office hours tracking? I’m hearing it’s based on badge swipes, connecting to the network.

Can anyone in management enlighten me what they’re looking at? Is it 4 hours, 5 hours?

Apparently there is some reporting but no one has seen it so we don’t even think it exists. I need someone who really knows what’s going on to shed some light on this please!

HR is closing out all RTO cases with no response or a canned response

If you needed reminding that HR / Allegations department / Ethicsline / Loudspeaker isn’t for employees this is it. They are closing out all cases about RTO with either no response besides “we have closed this case” or this canned response:

“We have reviewed your concern and wanted to provide additional information.
Our success depends on Wells Fargo being collaborative and innovative. We all benefit from seeing our colleagues on a regular basis. When we're together, it's easier to build relationships, get in-the-moment coaching identity career opportunities, and brainstorm ideas.
With this in mind, our approach emphasizes spending the majority of our time together in the office and also provides flexible work options based on what makes sense for different roles. The expectation to work full workdays is not new, and reinforcement of full workday expectations does not change our continued commitment to providing flexibility as situations arise. Employees should discuss with their manager when additional flexibility may be needed.
The case will be closed at this time. If you have additional concerns, please discuss with your manager.”

Hold!

As I enjoy the peace and quiet of the office at 7am I’m reminded of that scene from Braveheart. The English charging on horseback. William Wallace and his merry band of highlanders waiting for the inevitable sla-ghter.

Wallace imploring his warriors to HOLD the line, HOLD … and then bam up come the long spears and the tide is turned.

We must do the same my friends. Do not give into these cowards, those that want to take our freedoms and treat us like children.

Do not resign under and circumstances. They will be forced to capitulate if we stand together. Want us to quit DF? Kiss my hairy ar$e.

Badge tracking

Managers: “Work in the office OR ELSE HR will catch you! 🤬”

HR: “new managers misunderstand the policy and we have a 3rd party vendor, managers are notified of a trend before us”

So is the truth that managers get a higher bonus for people being in the office? Perfect attendance has done nothing positive for my career. Just makes it harder for me to do my job.

Toll booth installations

Starting December, toll booths will be installed at the entrances to SOMO, Peak, Westlake and LT. The access charge will be $10/day or $100/month. They're making a toll to get around parking fee regulations.

The installations should be done by Q2.

Upset?

Good. Then why do you accept the same costs in virtual tolls for RTO?

Value proposition

Let me preface this by saying that I understand and support that in the US everyone is free to look for a better opportunity.   I also support that the company needs to change in order to compete and drive value to the shareholders.
Assuming an employee makes it to January and supports these ideals we haven't heard what that means to the employee.  The reality is more than a few must work for a living not just for their passion.  Right now, without any communication to that end, we are facing up to a 17% increase in health care costs (10% discount program removed and increased employee cost 7%) plus the additional cost of going to the office everyday.  When will you be able to communicate something in relation to the financial benefits of working faster and harder other than being lucky to work here?
